Everyone always wants a cute kitten, before it's personality is even evident. Why not make a real difference and adopt an adult?

🐾 Adoption Appeal

Meet Annie, a brave and resilient mom cat who has captured our hearts. Annie is just over two years old, and despite her challenging past, she's now ready for a fresh start in a loving forever home.

Annie's life took a difficult turn as she had four litters, and tragically, all her precious kittens were lost one by one. She did her best to protect her new babies, moving them around to keep them safe. She faced rejection wherever she went, which led to a deep fear of humans.

It took the dedicated Cat Care field worker five days to finally trap Annie, who was now petrified of human contact.
When she came into my care, she was wild, and we couldn't approach her or her babies. We began the slow process of gaining her trust, spending days simply being in her presence, playing calming music, talking to her, and exchanging "slow blinks." It was a beautiful moment when she returned that slow blink, and from there, her fear slowly transformed into cautious trust.

Today, Annie is a testament to the power of patience and love. As I write this, she's lounging on my desk after a long cuddle session, a testament to the bond we've formed. She's a true survivor and has stolen our hearts.

While we've come to love Annie deeply, we believe there's someone out there who needs her more than we do. She deserves a safe, calm, and loving environment where she can bask in one-on-one attention.

Are you the right person to provide Annie with the love and care she deserves? If you're ready to open your heart and your home to this beautiful girl, please don't hesitate to contact me. Annie is ready to embark on her new life, and we hope it's with you.

Reach out to Salome - 0829070954 if you'd like to meet Annie and welcome her into your family. Let's make her journey from fear to trust a story of love and happiness. 🐾❤️🏡

Kitty of the week challenge 😻 Please sponsor Sasha R250 for a Christmas gift 🎁 Click on the photo and comment “sponsor” on the original photo. Santa Cause for paws will send the banking details. Thank you ❤️

UPDATE : I have kindly been sponsored by Lynne Nilsen

Hello I'm from Nine Lives Cat Foundation,

Please sponsor me for R250.
Simply comment sponsor and SCFP will send details. They will shop and deliver items to the charity with a card and your name on it.
Please share.
For any information regarding adopting me, contact the charity directly. If I find a home before my gift arrives, I will gladly offer my gift to a new intake. If I am an outreach animal, your donation will help an animal similar to me. Please note each charity sends a wishlist and the volunteers shop and pack as best as possible to that wishlist, so charities get what they want. Gifts can include food, treats, warm items, toys, useful items etc.Often charities opt for bulk options as this allows your generous donation to go further, instead of many small packs of food, a large bag will be purchased for the animals to share - it makes the funds go so much further. We hope you can understand the need to do this

Pretty boy S***t 😻

S***t was collected from an animal organization: he was born to a stray cat and was surrendered in a cardboard box for euthanasia. Thankfully the staff instead reached out to place him in a foster home so that he could find his forever home.

S***t is such a loving young kitten who loves to cuddle with cats of all ages. He has a big brave adventurous heart and loves to climb trees and play. 💙

Meet Xena, Siamese X, she was found in a ditch next to the freeway. A kind lady saw her, she looked very lost confused & scared. She managed to win her confidence and got her in the car. When she posted her on groups a lady phoned to say she recognize her as one of the cats that was dumped and this was not far from where this man threw 3 cats out of his car. The other 2 was caught and taken to a Welfare organisation. This lady knew in the state this kitty was she will have no chance and nurtured her back to better health and she’s fatten up a bit more.
She’s now up for adoption, the only fee is to cover her Walfare sterilization cost of R550. To meet beautiful Xena please contact Vicki on 0766217671.
She deserves a life where she knows what it is to be loved and not chucked away like garbage! 🐱❤️

This poor FIP kitty desperately needs funds for treatment. Please donate towards her cause if you can and share this post with all your friends and family. She is with Nine Lives Cat Foundation 💕

XENA, WARRIOR PRINCESS

Xena started walking funny on the 26th January 2023. At the time no one knew what was to come.
Five weeks later, after starting treatment for Biliary, and numerous tests done, she collapsed and couldn't walk at all. Couldn't eat, she had to be syringe fed.
Panicked is an understatement.
She had been seen by Dr Marlies Bohm, a vet specialist, who suggested that it might be FIP.

FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) has cost the lives of too many cats. Up until recently there was no cure. It is a mutation of the Feline Coronavirus (FCoV) and has 4 distinct forms. Wet, dry, ocular, and neurological. Some forms can occur simultaneously.

Xena was trapped as a feral for sterilization in August 2022 at an industrial area next to a township in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha, South Africa. They estimated her to be between 2-3 years old. When I fetched her from the vet, with her ear tipped, I realized that she wasn't feral at all, just scared. There was no way a tame, starving cat could be returned to that area. She would not survive. So I took her home.

From the beginning she has been such a character. She crept instantly into our hearts. She made a space for herself, putting the other cats firmly in their place, beneath her. She adores attention and is quite clingy at times. But who wouldn't want that much love from a cat?

When I realized through the fog of reacting to her symptoms and all the vet visits and tests that she probably had Neurological FIP my heart stopped. Xena?!!! No!!!! Not Xena!!!

Being in rescue I have had to have quite a few cats euthanased in the past. FIP had no cure! Until now...

Treatment is usually 84 days but depending on the blood tests, cats might need to extend their treatment period.
The cost is huge. I didn't know how I would afford the treatment but I couldn't have her put to sleep. That would have broken me completely. Especially knowing that there is a treatment out there.

That Monday, the 6th March 2023, she was started on Remdesivir injections, 2 every day. Within 2 days we saw an improvement; 13 days later she started to walk again for the first time, very wobbly.

Blood tests done on Day 74 indicated that her treatment needed to be extended past 84 days even though she had been slowly improving. On Day 87 she suddenly and inexplicably relapsed. She was off balance when she walked and had the occasional head tremor.
After emailing Dr Richard Malik in Australia, who is at the forefront of FIP research, the feedback was to change her treatment and dosages. Neurological FIP is the trickiest of them all as it doesn't follow the exact pattern of symptoms, treatment and recovery as the other forms.
Xena is now on Day 120 of treatment and is up and down with her recovery.

I have become one of those cat advocates that wants the whole world to know that there IS A CURE FOR FIP. We do not need to lose our babies to this horrible disease anymore!

The cats that have successfully been through treatment and observation are called FIP Survivors. Xena has demonstrated a true fighting spirit and her name suits her personality perfectly. I will fight for her, beside her.

But the emotional toll is very high. I'm battling to function as Xena's continuous setbacks are crippling. I feel like I'm on a rollercoaster. Xena's best chance at survival is importing BOVA oral GS-441524 tablets.

I am pleading for help to cover the cost of her treatment. If enough people help even in a small way we will be able to call her an FIP Survivor.

Please share this so that more and more people can find out about this very effective treatment for FIP, and if you are able, contribute to Xena's recovery.
Help Xena be a Warrior Princess!

Remember this beautiful, sad and scared kitten that was chased by kids that threw stones at her? 😿

Well look at her now. We have decided to call her Leela. Just look how gorgeous and chubby she is. 😻 She loves playing especially with teasers and swat toys. She enjoys food and cuddles.
She adores company from other cats. 🤗

Leela had quite a few people interested in adopting her. Unfortunately due to a “runny tummy”. We had to put her adoption on hold. She has always been a very healthy kitten and finally we got the all clear from the vet.

If interested in adopting her please contact Karen - 082 990 1426 ☎️

Savanna was rescued from the inside of 2 walls when their mom was killed by a car. She was only about 2 weeks old when a friendly lady contacted us to come and rescue her and her siblings. Because she cannot remember her mom, she thinks us humans are the same species and therefore she will bond with you like you’re her mommy.
Savanna is about 12 weeks old now. She has a gorgeous coat with coloring you don’t see every day. Her ginger shines through so beautifully. She falls asleep in your arms. Savanna is the type of kitten that wants to be with you 24/7. She is extremely loving, affectionate, curious and playful. She will crawl into your lap or arms every chance she gets and reward you with loving head buds and kisses all over your face. Cats only lick the faces of those with whom they share a genuinely close connection. Your cat licking your nose is a sure sign that your kitty loves you and feels safe and secure.
I am also of the opinion that she will make a great emotional support animal! So if you are looking for that special companion and lap cat, Savanna is your girl! 😻

If interested in adopting her please contact Gerda - 084 550 0626 📞
