I am busy looking at a venue in Humansdorp to run shows at. The grounds have no affiliations to any equestrian disciplines or bodies so we do not have to run according to SAEF regulations. There will be precautions taken like masks being worn and forms filled in in case of a Covid case. Hopefully in the near future maybe jan 2021 we can run a show. Watch this space

Have just read an interesting article on SAE concerned member group in regards to SAEF banning shows. SAEF has used a badly drafted version of another sports discipline about competing. The legislation does not cover the equestrian world as the minister of Sport has not promulgated legislature banning horse shows. So SAEF threatening riders with disciplinary issues is unlawful as there is no law stipulating that Equestrians have to be a member of SAEF. The same goes for road running. You do not have to be a member of a club to run and the same applies to equestrians. So wevmust stand up fight SAEF on this but we can hold shows and not have SAEF dictate to us.

I will be running a show out a Slipperfields which will include showjumping, prix caprilli and showing. Now to find someone who will make my rosettes as Blue Steel will only start making again in January. Hopefully at the end of September we will have the show.

The Corona virus is creating havoc with shows being postponed and cancelled. Here is an excellent opportunity to keep up your show skills by videoing your test at home and sending it in to be judged by a judge who has qualified but no longer a member of SAEF and DSA. A nominal fee of R100 a test to be paid and you will be scored. Your results sent to you as well as a rosette. My first show to be run in Port Elizabeth is about to kick off on Sunday at 2pm at Lauricedale Equestrian Park in Recreational Road Theesecombe. Would have been super to have had more entries but 10 for the first event is not bad. Remember you can enter on the day. There are sponsored prizes with overall sponsorship of R1400 for Sunday as well as rosettes.
