Such a huge loss to the German Shepherd Community, Rest in Peace Maren.. Our deepest condolences go out to all family and friends 😢💔

With profound sadness, we share the heartbreaking news of the loss of our dear friend, mentor, and beloved icon, Maren van der Heyde. She peacefully passed away in her sleep, succumbing to her valiant battle against cancer. Maren's life was a tapestry woven with love for German Shepherds, and her unwavering devotion to the breed was a cornerstone of her being.

Maren's influence was immeasurable, and her impact reached far and wide. Through the beautiful souls of the German Shepherds she nurtured, she left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her commitment to these magnificent creatures touched hearts, inspired many, and forged deep connections within our community.

As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of dedication, passion, and boundless love for these loyal companions. While our hearts ache with grief, we take solace in knowing that Maren's memory will forever be intertwined with the noble spirit of the German Shepherds she adored.

In the quiet of our hearts, we bid farewell to a cherished friend with these words: "Sleep softly, my dear friend, for your love and legacy will continue to shine brightly through the paws and hearts of the German Shepherds you so dearly cherished."

May you find comfort in the knowledge that Maren's love lives on in the gentle wag of a tail, the steadfast loyalty of a furry friend, and the enduring bond she cultivated among us all.

Something to look forward to for those in the Gauteng region.. The amount of training that goes into getting the dogs to this level is unbelievable so it's definitely something to experience if you can!

Friendly City Gsd Club is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bernd Machtle, one of the founding members of the GSD Federation of South Africa, friend and teacher to many, his dedication and love for the sport and the breed was an inspiration to us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tessa, Jordan and his entire family at this sad time. RIP Bernd.
