Good morning ladies. I need to get something off my chest.
I don't usually complain about professional fees but I was shocked yesterday when I saw yesterday at 11:50 that my 15 year old Jack Russell female had blood in her urine.
(I have just in the space of about 3 months lost 2 of my dogs, the 1 was 15 and the other 14). My dogs are my life.
Anyway I phoned my vet, they were closed, I phoned another vet they were too busy to assist but they suggested another vet. I phoned and the lady said they close at 12 but they can wait for me. But because I will get there after 12 it will be the afterhours fee plus the consult and that adds up to R2300!!!! Really!!! As much as I love my pet and care for them WHERE must I scrath out THAT kind of fee. I said to the lady I don't have that kind of money. She said I can wait for when they open for 30 min early evening at a reduced rate for the overtime fee so I would then pay R1310!!!!

People, where has this world gone to?
I thankfully found a vet who was open to 1pm, raced there, had my old girl checked out by the sweetest lady vet. Full bill including antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and and injection and a thorough check up R1050! Now that to me is a lot of money for me, BUT that I can work with.

I might be wrong in thingking that the R2300 afte hours consult is a lot, and had there be no other vet open to assis me I would had had to try and lend the money from someone because I cannot let my old girl suffer. I can understand if I call the vet out at midnight for them to charge so much but NOT because it will be 12:10 by the time I get there.

And at the end of the day the one who will be suffering is the animal, because not everyone has the wasys or means to try and come up with such an absolute ridiculous amount of cash just for the consult, and then on top of that there will be the medication.

I am so grateful for the vet I saw yesterday. She treated my old girl with such care and love. If not for this vet, my girly would have had to wait until Monday for medical care. This is just so not right on so many levels.

Long Walk back to Freedom !
As you all know I was kicked into Touch by a horse patient on the 2nd September. Fractured l/shoulder ball and humerus and fractured ribs.
1st 4 weeks all good next 4 weeks the wheels came off . Latest x/rays all healing well but it now appears I may have Rheumatoid Arthritis . Physcian appointment booked.
In Life one never knows what could happen next .
A Huge Thank You 🙏 to my Beautiful and Amazing Wife for the Constant Support and Nursing.
Your Patience Kindness and Love ❤️ do not go unnoticed.
