How it all started...

A bit about me... I have always loved a Dachsy. Their funny little bodies, tenacious nature and a love for food that rivals my own, they just make me smile. So naturally my first puppy was a Dachsy! Minx is a miniature brown Dachsy with a liver nose and hazel eyes. Then of course the firm South African favourite Jack Russel, so there’s Captain- a JRT of dubious origins somewhere outside of Uitenhage and heading up our security force is Ranger - a locally bred Boerboel with the sweetest nature, but an unfortunate habit of marking his favorite spots in the house. Stay with me, I’m getting to the point here :) Captain and Minx were often under the covers in our bed and with babies and toddlers playing musical beds the night-time shenanigans became somewhat contentious. I needed to boot them out the bed (without feeling too guilty) so I decided to make them cosy beds of their own. After a few attempts, the Zedbed Duvet was born. Soon enough friends started asking me to make beds for their pets and were kind enough to spread the word so here we are!

Zedbed offers the Duvet design (a sleeping bag type bed with a flap lined with fleece and batting). The Sleeper design is for larger type breeds and even smaller types that don’t want to be covered (rectangular shaped mattress style bed with a removable foam chip inner pillow). The removable cover allows for easy washing and the inner foam chip pillow can be washed too if needs be. Sizes range from XS to XL as well as custom shapes and sizes on request. The “pillowslip” style I use on both the Duvet and the Sleeper to avoid zips and buckles, so dogs that tend to chew their beds won’t be tempted. Fabrics are hand picked to suit your pet and your home, so you can play it safe with durable denims and cotton canvas or make a fashion statement with printed linens and florals!
