Good afternoon everyone, we trust everyone and all the Little Paws are doing well on this cold and rainy day. We apologize for being quiet but things at the rescue has been super busy for us, so where do we even start? We have some very very exciting news, we now have handmade toys for your Little Paws available via our online store. These toys are specially crafted by Choco Rat Chew Toys made to be the best of the best for your Little Paws. Prices do vary but we have many different options available! So let's start by saying our online store is still up and running, all profits from our store go straight back into the rescue to help pay for their bills. We courier nation wide with PUDO lockers, shipping prices do vary but from 1st November to the 10th November, spend R800 or more and get free shipping! Yes that's right, your shipping is totally free.
We also do have some very cute babies up for adoption, unfortunately Willow a rescued Guinea pig passed suddenly and now Rosco is really needing a freind of few. Rosco is a soft and gentle soul, he doesn't mind a cuddle after being bribed with some treats. He is the most curious little guy but really just needs a freind to love him on the cold days. His adoption fee will be R200 just to cover the food he's been eating.
Tulip a gorgeous white rabbit that we had rescued via AWS is also seeking a forever home where she can either free roam in the room all day or free roam around the house as much as possible, she's a gentle giant and loves to play. Her favorite things are most definitely to have a cuddle up on your bed with you. Each of them will be getting their separate adoption post however in the meantime these babies are ready to be adopted. Tulip is already sterilized through AWS however her adoption fee of R300 is just to cover her food that she's been eating.
We still have the bonded trio female rats available for adoption, Zara, Lucy and Holly are awaiting someone with patience and time on their hands to give lots of loves to them. Even though they may be slightly shy, they will still come out for some treats and may even Snuggle on your bed with you. Their adoption fee is R350 for all three just to cover the food that they have been using.
On another note though we currently have a raffle up to win a R1500 voucher for Little Paws Rodent Rescues online store. With this winning you can choose to donate your winnings to us or to use your winnings and spoil your Little Paws!
We hope to get some support for this raffle as these items won't sell on their own!

We do have a new rescue coming up, two young rabbits whom live outdoors are desperately needing a new home due to their dogs not approving of them. They're still rather young, one male and one female. They are a bonded pair aswell which makes them a lot harder to adopt out however we will need a foster or a adopter to help us here, we unfortunately cannot take them in as we already have Tulip out and free roaming the room so to add another two babies may not be the best option as of right now. Each sterilization is R1750 per rabbit which leads us to not only R3500 for both of them to get fixed but it also leaves us in major debt and we will urgently need to atleast get the female sterilized in the mean time. We really do hope to raise some funds.
Our current raffle is up in support for these bunnies.

We have come up short on food unfortunately as it's been a really slow and bad month for us, we are really hoping to get some raffle tickets sold and we will also be hosting our very own auction for some of our available products soon! Make sure to pop us a WhatsApp on 0814111583 to be added onto our auction group!
It's for the love of the Little Paws 🐭.

Good morning everyone, we trust you and your Little Paws are doing well. We have been super busy between all the rescues however we have really been taking the time to focus on the two Guinea pigs whom have come into our care suddenly without a cage. Willow (the female) was pregnant and yesterday afternoon she had her babies however apon further inspection all four babies were still borns. We have no idea what happened unfortunately however after some much needed pampering, Willow girl is now doing great. Rosco whom is her partner in crime has really started coming out of his shell. Both Willow and Rosco have started to come sit on my lap whenever they want scratches and Rosco adores it when he gets some head scratches whilst Willow loves tummy tickles. We had potential adopters for these two piggies and while they were willing to pay for Rosco to get neutered, unfortunately plans fell through after the family got some bad news. Rosco and Willow are a lovely pair of angels to have, they can be quite vocal but they thrive on treats and some extra love. While Willow loves to be pampered and treated like a baby, Rosco prefers to hang back and relax a bit. Rosco is a little more shy than Willow but Willow helps Rosco overcome any potential fears. These two little piggies must be adopted out together and Rosco must be neutered before leaving the rescue. If there are any other plans on having more piggies or you potentially already have piggies then both Willow and Rosco will need to be sterilized and neutered. We will be posting some photos of them soon!
On another note, the three gorgeous female rats that unexpectedly came into our care are starting to come out of their shell aswell. Whilst they are still a bit shy, it seems as long as you have treats ready then you may just be their new best friend/s. They now go by the names of Holly, Lucy and Zara. All three girls have their own unique personalities however they do not disappoint. Holly is a gorgeous yet shy girl, she will gladly come up to your hands and give you a smell. She loves taking treats and it seems that if you really put the effort in, she will even do some tricks as long as she gets that treat🐭. She is a rather active girl and loves her sisters company but she can definitely wander around away from her sister's for a quick five minutes. Lucy on the other hand is a lot more shy but she definitely doesn't mind for treats, she's also a well known weirdo because everytime their water bowl gets filled, she seems to have to dunk her head under the water for a little bath😂. She really does enjoy company but she will need some extra time to get used to her new servants😅. Zara on the other hand, once she gains your trust there is absolutely no going back, she can be a bit sceptical around new people but she definitely doesn't mind flopping over for some belly scratches once she trusts you. Yet again she is a foodie, similar to her sister's she will gladly love you as long as there's some treats involved. All three girls must be adopted out together as they're a bonded pair and stress out when apart for too long. Having all three girls right by your side may sound like a lot however it's the best decision you'll ever make. These girls need a retirement home, judging off the way they look and act. They are already around two years of age so they definitely just want some servants to feed them treats and give them tons of free roaming time. Photos of them will be posted shortly!

Now to get to some other topics, we are asking everyone whom can help us out. If you have any cages that you're no longer using or any accessories and items, we ask you to please help our Little Paws. These babies have already had a sad background however we make it much better for them. Especially since they have such a short life, these babies should be experiencing how amazing their lives can actually be. A single R20 may not sound like much but if we can get 10 people to donate a R20 then we can start buying them some accessories and food. All their basic needs. If we get some people to donate a R20 we may even have enough to buy a second hand cage that's better for the rescues. If we get enough people to donate a R20 we may even be able to buy some hammocks for the Little Paws. So if you have anything to help, please do consider helping these Little Paws. We are willing to send bank details on request aswell as show everyone where the donation money goes. We thank those whom have helped us thus far and we trust that our Little Paws community will help us!
We hope everyone has a great day and we hope everyone's Little Paws gets some Extra treats from Holly, Lucy and Zara 🐭.

04/10/2024

Good morning all, we apologize for being quiet however we have our hands full. As I am the only one that's been managing social media, things do fall behind sometimes unfortunately. However here's what has happened at the rescue.
We had a unfortunate case of two Guinea pigs being sold on a WhatsApp group stating that they come with their cage. After speaking to their owner they were willing to hand the two Guinea pigs over (A male and a female whom still needs names) the female is unfortunately pregnant and has had a litter before she came into our care. Apon their owners arriving to drop them off, we were a bit in shock once we realized they did indeed not come in a cage however did come in a 5lt ice cream tub. Unfortunately we cannot give much information about them however we were in shock and thankfully after having them in one of our travel cages for the night, we jumped into action and reached out to some people to see if someone possibly had any panels for us to borrow in the mean time. That's when Holistic Hamster stepped up and gave us some panels to keep permanently. Although we are usually prepared, this was unfortunately not the case as these babies were handed to us in a ice cream tub and not their cage unfortunately. After jumping into action and setting their new cage up, we are now awaiting mom to deliver her gorgeous babies. Both mom and dad urgently need homes, however that can only happen after babies have been born and are off of mom. So in the mean time we are seeking them future homes aswell as homes for a minimum of two babies. Both parents are absolutely gorgeous however they can be a bit shy but once they get to know you, their personalitys really start to show. They are in no means aggressive or have any health related problems however they do need an owner who will be willing to feed them extra treats and take the time to get to know their personality's.
About three days ago we were alerted about three female rats being sold on gumtree with their cage for R100, thankfully a very kind hearted lady stepped in and bought them from the seller. She immediately contacted us before the purchase happened and we happily took them in. The condition of the cage was really scary and the food that they were being fed was even scarier. They had been living on wire and an old towel in the corner of their cage, their cage stank so bad that we immediately needed to do a deep clean and now all three girls are as happy as can be. Unfortunately they have very clearly never been given attention, they're beyond scared when they free roam but after some time out they become much better. They absolutely thrive on a Hammock and just overall love being given challenges, weather that's hiding their treats around the cage or hiding treats in their hammocks. They absolutely love a challenge. They will be in quarantine for a minimum of two weeks before they're available for adoption however we are seeking future adopters for these lovely girls. In the two weeks of quarantine we will be trying our best to get them as calm as possible however their new owner/s will also need to work with them as they can be a bit shy around new smells and new faces. One of these gorgeous girls flops over for belly rubs if you spend enough time with her. Overall they can be really good cuddle bugs once they are comfortable around you. All three girls have yet to be named so suggestions are welcome for names on both the Guinea pigs and all three ratties.
Unfortunately everyone's food is low again however we are trying our utmost best to get tickets sold on our raffle in order to buy some food for these babies.
Every Little Paws says thank you for taking the time to read this post and thank you so so much for all the help we have had thus far. We cannot have done it without all the Little Paws lovers out there! Our main goal is to get enough food to see us through the month and we are willing to do whatever it takes to get this goal acvhived. A huge huge thank you to those who have bought tickets on our raffles, it has helped us absolutely loads!
For the love of the Little Paws 🐭.

Hi everyone, we trust everyone's doing well. After some crazy days and tons of rescues we have now decided that it may be best to call off our Pet Portrait due to the lack of interest. While the rescue has been absolutely crazy busy, rescues just can't stop coming in. Our current rescue cases are, five gorgeous bunnies who are being locked up in a tiny parrot cage all day and all night with minimal to no shade at all, genders are all unknown as of yet but within the next week or two we should have them in our care. We are seeking help on all five as we have just made enough donations for Tulip our other rescue however we have no idea what genders we are working with and no idea regarding their vaccinations. However if we get everyone neutered / spayed at once then we may get some discount (+- R400 a bunny) we also are needing tons of supplies for them and we are also seeking a puppy play pen for their quarantine time however we need it to be fairly large so please make contact with us if you know of some available. We are still seeking a forever home for our bonded pair of female Guinea pigs whom go by the name Coconut and Hazel. They are a bonded pair so will have to go together, please keep in mind that courier will be available at adopters expenses. They do have a slight adoption fee just to cover their basic needs, their ideal family would be someone willing to take the time and patience to get to know their unique personality's and to allow them to free roam as much as possible. We also have a rescue for yet another rabbit at the end of September as his parents are moving and can no longer care for him unfortunately. He is a free roaming bun which means we will need to get him neutered aswell (another R400 +-) although he is litter trained and has a great personality. His ideal family would be someone preferably at home almost all day or another little rabbit to keep him company. I'm sure he would also like to Snuggle up in your blankets and give you cuddles. His little face has a lot to say and with the cutest of attitudes aswell. We then got a very urgent call yesterday from a gentleman who had an unfortunate case from a pet store. He intended on buying two female ratties however they ended up being a male and a female. Apon further inspection he ended up with 15 babies, he unfortunately had no time to split everyone up based on their gender and now many females are ready to have their babies. Thankfully they are now separated and we are expecting a good 50 to 70 babies shortly. This will be a huge huge challenge for us to take on as we already are full however we will be seeking homes before any babies come to us. Adoption fees do apply and courier is available at adopters expenses. They are currently in Gauteng however will be on their way to Port Elizabeth ASAP.
We have listed our available products below in hopes to get some items sold in order to raise funds for all the new arrivals, profits of these sales go straight back into the rescue. We have also included photos of our wishlists for new arrivals, we ask if you have any time available to take that time and have a look at your Little Paws wants and needs and hopefully you can order from us. We have had many happy paws receive our products. Please do keep in mind that we do courier either via Pudo or The Courier Guy. Courier is available at buyers expense🐭.

Hi everyone, we would like to start off today's post by saying we apologize for being quiet. We were focusing on our raffle group as that's our way to get funds in to continue our rescue. Funds have been tight but we still make our way through all of our problems. For those who are on our raffle group, you'll know that we have had some personal problems happening so between managing all the rescues, potential rescue cases, personal life problem's and much more. We took some time to gather everyone and everything, just trying to keep up. All the Little Paws food is starting to run out, we might have another two or three feedings left out of what's left. After that all feed will be finished and we will have to start begging for help again... Although donations are slow and slim to none, we still take money out of our own pockets to support the needs of everyone. For those who know me personally will know that I will try doing my best just for these babies, they all have their own needs that we need to tend too however with minimal to no funds we have to beg in order to keep the rescue going. We have explained some of these things before and rescue work isn't easy. You get a bad rescue case almost on a daily basis and almost all of them require loads and loads of work. By this I mean we are constantly attending to those who have trust issues and prefer to be left alone, attending to those who are neglected or the ones who were starved. Sometimes it's even as bad that they attach themselves to one person and one person only like our Chinchilla that we rescued. He has attached himself to me and after non stop training he is still scared of people other than me. Our recent bunny that we took in, Tulip loves cuddles and attention however she gets frightened very fast and that causes her to go into a panic. However through all these challenges we are still trying to keep both the Little Paws and rescue stable.
We have a bonded pair of Guinea Pigs that are currently seeking their forever home. Both are females, one short hair and one semi long hair. Both girls have very outgoing personalities and are super active. They thrive on attention and love their food. They live for the space and will not be adopted out if they will be kept in a small cage. We have requirements that needs to be followed before adoptions however these sweet girls are seeking their forever home and if you have what it takes, please send us a WhatsApp on 0814111583 and we will get back to you ASAP. Photos of the girls can be found below, both girls are as loveable and cute as can come
Please note both girls must be adopted together as they're a bonded pair 🐭.

Afternoon all. We have been rather quiet recently as we have been trying to focus on our current rescues and making plans for food, bedding, cages, housing, accessories etc.
Although we thought everything was running smoothly and that we could help everyone with their feeds, we have unfortunately hit rock bottom. Between cost of food for all the babies, hay prices, cage prices and much more. We fear that if we don't get donations for them we may have to put a slight stop to everything until we can get back on our feet. We not only have a new rabbit joining us from the SPCA which will be going up for adoption soon but we also have a Chinchilla coming into our care which we suspect was dumped. Thankfully the guy who found him is in love with him and even though he can't keep him, he will make sure to visit him and get constant updates to make sure the baby is doing well. He has even built the little guy a cage and has asked us to be his permanent home to make sure that nothing like this happens ever again.
We would also just like to take the time and say a absolutely huge thank you to Ratatouille Pet Supplies for donating a huge cage aswell as tons of hammocks and bedding, they even donated a packet of midnight foraging mix (everyone's favorite). This cage has helped us loads and even the hammocks and other fun accessories has helped us in ways that we cannot explain. Please do have a look at their page and show some support to them. The work Jeanne puts in is absolutely amazing and she always goes the extra mile to help where she can.

On another note we have come across the exact same cage on Facebook marketplace for only R600. However we need the funds first for food and accessories before we can buy this stunning cage unfortunately. We are hoping that it's not sold by the time we have the funds as this is a deal that we would not like to miss out on.
For those who have joined our raffle group and showed support there, I'd like to thank each and everyone of you as that has helped us loads. We trust that the support will continue as long as we have patience. In the meantime please contact us on 0814111583 for all of your Little Paws needs and wants. We have a huge variety to select from and cannot thank everyone enough for all the support thus far🐭.

30/08/2024

Hi everyone, today has been a rough day for us. Today we found that our food for our hamsters, rats and chinchillas are about to be finished. We do not have the funds at this stage to go out and buy everything that is needed, we beg of you to even just buy some tickets on our raffle so we can go out and buy some food for these poor paws. We fear that if we do not get funds soon, we will be sitting with a huge problem feeding wise. We have also run out of all fresh fruits and vegetables and are urgently needing some items. Please please show support on our raffle group of by buying some items for your Little Paws from our store. This isn't an easy passion but we try our best everyday to make sure everyone is full, has fresh water, enrichment and is loved. We ask if you can't support us to atleast share our post🙏. We are doing this for all the Little Paws that are in need and right now we need everyones support on this, 10kg bag of rat food can last us between 3½ weeks to four weeks. Hamster Food 2kg lasts us +- the same time and Chinchilla food 2kg we need every 4 weeks. Fresh fruits and vegetables fly by as everyone needs these, we ask if you have anything to please help us out on this rough day and please to support our rescue.
For the love of the Little Paws 🐭.

Hi everyone, we have decided to make some wishlists and hope to get some support regarding these items! We are in need of these products and so so much more, we really do hope to get some more cages in aswell due to the fact of new rescues coming in with no cage at all or what we refer to as a "travel cage". Please please support our raffle group https://chat.whatsapp.com/GO4lAitpNO8FI8l5IHSJck aswell as we only have 18 tickets left at R10 a ticket on our current raffle. The raffle includes hammocks, housing etc. If you have any products that you'd like to put up for raffle please make sure to pop us a WhatsApp on 0814111583. Thank you for all of the support thus far, we appreciate each and everyone of you! 🐭

28/08/2024

Afternoon everyone, we do apologize for being so quiet recently however we have been busy with all the rescues non stop and at the same time trying our best to get some items sold as we are urgently needing funds for food and cages. Whilst we have a good amount of travel cages, we do not have permanent cages for the rescues to live comfortably. We are in urgent need of rat food, Chinchilla food, hamster food, and rabbit food. We are also in urgent need for cages for all of the above. If you cannot donate anything towards the rescue, please consider buying some raffle tickets or even just a product from our site. We do also need fleece blankets and some other items like hammocks, bedding, housing and much much more. We ask for our supporters to help us get the word out there and let people know just how bad petshops actually are. We are still seeing so many innocent Little Paws being dropped off at petstores or being released into the wild. We are trying our best to raise funds for both the rabbits sterilization fee (see photo below) and for all the rescues.
On another note we do also have a very gorgeous female rabbit coming into our care soon, she was found roaming the streets and while we cannot wait to meet her this weekend we are also in need of some items for her. We would love to make her the biggest and best possible home for the time that she is in our care so if you have anything to help towards her please do pop us a WhatsApp. She will need to be sterilized and due to this its R300 to cover her medical bill. We ask for donations or items to be bought on our website for us to pay her sterrie fee.
We would also like to take the time to thank each and everyone who has been supporting us on our raffle group, buying their little paws needs from us, making donations towards the rescue and for even sharing our posts. We appreciate everything and all the support.
We have high hopes that our supporters and fellow little paw owners will help us during this process. We do this for all the Little Paws and we try our best each day to make sure everyone's getting the love and care they need whilst still trying to keep up with cleaning and feeding. We are flying through food and ask if you may have anything to please help us with this.
I will attach a photo of our new cutie who will be joining us this weekend and we hope everyone can see why we are trying our best to help her🐰.

19/08/2024

Hi everyone, we do apologize for being so quiet recently but we are stacked up with the rescue and our store. Here's just an update on everything that has been happening by the rescue recently.
We have got a good amount of full cages at this stage with rescues, we do also have some rats available for adoption. If you're interested in adopting please send us a WhatsApp on 0814111583 and we'll get back to you shortly.
We have just been called today by a kind gentleman who rescued a mommy rabbit and four babies, he had since taken them to what's been told a "safe haven" as he did not know about us. Apon him taking these poor babies there, both him and his daughter have visited them everyday and it's come to his attention that the mom has dug out of the cage and is missing aswell as one of the babies, the workers here have covered up the rabbits burrow wholes and have trapped them inside without any food or water. This has since been taken to spca where we have been contacted and the remaining 3 will be coming into our care as this "safe haven" is anything but safe. We do not name and shame but this is an absolute shocker and we pray that nobody takes their animals there as they seem to lack basic knowledge and care for these Little Paws. We are in need of three large rabbit cages as we don't know if there are any babies in the burrow. They will be coming into my care ASAP and we will be taking them as their current "cage" is clearly not suitable for them.
Whilst we have been drowning in work we are still here for all the Little Paws, donations have been slow and our raffles aren't selling as we needed but we are still trying our best to keep the animals happy and healthy. If you do know of anybody interested in raffle tickets please send us a WhatsApp on 0814111583 and we will add you to our group. If you know of anyone who may have anything to donate or any rabbit cages available then please do pop us a WhatsApp aswell. We highly appreciate all the help we can get on this rescue case as these poor Paws will need tons of care before they can be adopted out. Thank you for your support thus far, we cannot thank everyone enough. 🐭
