Tortoises do need water!
They rehydrate themselves through a soaking.
Tortoises may drink water through their nose or mouth or absorb it through their cloaca.
They may urinate more while being soaked in an effort to eliminate urine with high solute levels and to replace it with the fresh water it is taking in.

A rolling donkey is a happy donkey ... ?
For donkeys, there is nothing quite like rolling in a fresh patch of dirt.
Rolling on the ground helps to scratch their backs.
It's also a natural behavior for donkeys to cover themselves in dust. This provides protection from extreme heat and cold weather.

The Hadeda Ibis make perfect gardeners.
They aerate the soil as they plunge their long curved bills into the dirt and grass.
This is great as it creates healthier environments for plants and keeps insect populations under control.

This clever little critter knew exactly where to go for help.
She was successfully trapped and brought to us.
She is another fire victim and has lost her front toes, and her feet are also very raw from burn wounds.
We treated her and will keep her for a couple of days for further observation before she can go back into the wild.
