On 19 October, we came across this message on a local community group and immediately reached out to assist:

"Good evening! We live in [Street], and there’s a grey-ish cat that comes into our yard at night. I saw it eating our dog’s food in the bathroom before it darted off. I’m not sure who was more frightened—me or the cat! I don’t know if it’s feral or belongs to someone nearby, but we have an Irish Dane, a Jack Russell/Cattledog, and two dachshunds on the property. They don’t get along with cats—actually, they work together as a pack… depending on how you feel about cats, I suppose 🙈. Just a heads-up: the cat won’t make it out alive if my dogs catch it, I’m so sorry 🙈🙈🙈"

The next morning, the another person added:
"This cat also visits my house in [Street]. I think it might be feral."

We gathered as much information as possible and set out to trap her. On the second day, we successfully caught the cat—turns out she was an already sterilised female! The family was incredibly supportive and agreed to let her stay, providing a raised area where she could safely eat away from the dogs.

We are so grateful to work with people who understand the importance of finding ways for cats and humans to live in harmony. 💛🐾

On 22 October, we returned to Sunnyside to release the mother cat after her sterilisation and set another trap overnight, hoping for good news. Security had spotted four tiny kittens hiding under the staircase the week before. We searched that day and listened carefully, but they hadn’t been seen since.

We set a trap overnight and when we arrived, we were overjoyed to find three kittens in the trap and one on the stairway with their mother. We quickly rushed to get another trap while David kept a close eye on the last little one. By the time we returned, he had carefully scooped it up and into the trap.

All four kittens are now safe in our foster care—what a relief and joy to finally see them! 💛🐾

🐾 TNR Update l 21 October 2025

While checking in on one of our previous rescue sites in Sunnyside — where we helped save kittens who had fallen off a wall earlier this year — we received this update on 17 October:

“There’s a new cat with four young kittens.
She comes to eat the food I leave without a problem, as long as I step away. She doesn’t bolt right away when she sees people — she watches first to see if there’s any interest in her, and only hides if someone approaches too closely. Then she waits nearby until it’s safe again before coming back out.
I’ve only managed to spot two of the kittens from a distance — they’re very wary — but neighbours say all four come out when no one’s around.
Unfortunately, they’ve been hiding inside the engine compartment of a car that’s been standing here for a while. They seem quite agile now — I watched two of them climb down to explore, then scramble back up the moment they noticed me.”

With all the recent rain, our trapping plans were delayed for a few days 🌧️, but we stayed on alert, making sure the little family had food and shelter while we waited for a safe, dry window.

Finally, on 21 October, we set a trap and successfully caught the mama cat! 🐈 She was safely sterilised on 22 October, preventing more kittens from being born into a tough life on the streets.

We’re now looking for a sponsor to cover her sterilisation:

From the streets to a safe, loving home — this is Forest’s story. 🧡😺🤍

Once a scared little boy with nowhere safe to go, Forest’s journey has led him to the most wonderful ending — a forever home filled with love, kindness, and care. ✨

Today, he’s thriving with the Swart family, who opened their hearts and home to give him the life every cat deserves. 💛

A message from Forest’s new family:

“Such a cutie pie 🤩
He has a very healthy appetite 😁
He calls the cat ‘my liefie’ 😊
He really likes him — very gentle and always asks before going into the cat’s room.
Having the time of his life here 😊”

We couldn’t be happier knowing Forest will be cherished, cuddled, and loved beyond measure for the rest of his days. 💕

TNR Update l 26 October

We headed back to the busy underground parking lot in the CBD to trap the last remaining kitten. 🐾

This time, we set two traps — and when we returned, we found not only the black kitten we were hoping for… but also an unexpected arrival — a ginger boy with the saddest little eyes. 🧡😿

The black kitten will be sterilised soon, and our ginger boy has already been TNR’d (trapped, neutered & returned). ✨

A huge thank-you to Bokka for sponsoring his sterilisation — your support turns small victories into lasting change 💛.

Your support helps us feed, sterilise & care for the neglected, forgotten, abandoned and homeless. 🙏🐾

Samurai’s (formerly nsmed Teddy) sterilisation isn’t just a procedure — it’s part of his forever story! ✨
A celebration of rescue, compassion, and being the star of his very own happy ending. 🌟

His mom shared:

“All’s good with Samurai. I take him out in his basket every day for about an hour if there’s sun and air my study. At night he has the run of the lounge as long as the other pets aren’t around. Luna (cross-Staffie) adores him. He was groggy for a few hours but was himself again the next day.” 💌

🐾 Huge shout-out to the Hawthorn family for keeping your promise and giving Samurai the love-filled home he truly deserves. 💖

From the streets to snuggles — Flower is now living her best life in her forever home. 💛

She and her brother were spotted in harsh conditions, but thanks to Marcelia and Ingrid’s care and persistence, they finally found safety. 🖤

We’re so grateful knowing Flower will be cherished, cuddled, and loved for the rest of her days. ✨

🐾 Rescue Update | 16 October 2025

On 14 October, a message was posted on a community group:

“There is a little white, brown and grey kitten, about ±2 months old. We tried to catch it but were unsuccessful. Not sure if anyone lost its kitten.”

We immediately recognised the location — it was the very first site we started as a project, where at least 13 ferals have already been sterilised. The colony had been stable for a long time, so we wondered where this new little one had come from.

Without hesitation, we set out traps and monitored the area day and night for three days. Finally, on 16 October, after patient effort and teamwork, we were successful! 💪

A huge thank-you to the incredible Steenkamp family and one of our dedicated supporters who joined us to help. 💛

This poor baby was found living in a narrow wall cavity, weak, hungry, and absolutely terrified. No other kittens were found nearby, so she’s likely been on her own for some time.

Today, she is safe, warm, and in loving foster care. Thank you to Marc and Sam for fostering this little girl. — finally getting the food, comfort, and rest she deserves. 🏡❤️

Please support our efforts in saving more kittens like her from living on the harsh streets.

Since 13 July, we’ve been assisting with the trapping, sterilisation, and release of ferals at a very busy parking lot in the CBD. Over time, we managed to trap all the visible adults and rescue every kitten — except two clever little ones who proved to be just too smart (or too cautious) for the traps.

Then, on 12 October, when we set the traps again and returned to check, we were absolutely elated to find one of those elusive kittens finally inside — this handsome tuxedo boy! 🖤🤍

A heartfelt thank you to Bokka for sticking it through with us and for sponsoring this boy’s sterilisation — your support makes these small victories possible. 💛
