This weekend Wesman Stables was out in full force. We had some horses out jumping and some out dancing in the dressage arenas.

Melia Dros and Mini went to SANESA and jumped two super rounds finishing with a 5th and a 6th place in the 90cm classes.

Beniro and Shaun Colin West won both their Elementary classes and were the overall Highland Equestrian Centre Series Elementary Champion.

Presumido and Vay Snyman won their Intermediate B class and were also the overall Highland Equestrian Centre Series Champions.

Quantica and Shaun rode a super test in the Elementary 3 warmup class coming home with a great score and some very positive feedback.

Well done to all the horses and riders for flying the Wesman flag so high!!

Melia Dros took her two horses out to SANESA this past weekend. Leo in the performance and Mini in the jumping.
She has come such a long way with both of her horses. Melia is really learning to adapt her riding between how Leo or Mini want to be ridden.

This past Sunday Shaun and Luther were out at Burlington Stables.
The pair jumped a super clear in the 1.25m 2Phase to clinch the win 🏆🏆

Today the youngest and smallest duo from Wesman stables took on the wet and cold weather.
Abby and Libby competed in their first SANESA together.
They did incredibly well and have such a bright future ahead. Their results were:
🔹 Two 1st places for dressage 🥇🥇
🔹 4th for Performance 🏅
🔹 5th for working riding 🏅

Congratulations to everyone who has played a part in getting Abby and Libby ready for their first show.

The Wesman Dressage Team had a good outing again this week at the second show of the year at the Highland Dressage Series.

Shaun had a very busy morning with three horses in the Elementary classes,
and Vay and Presumido stepped up a grade to Medium Tour.

🥇First in the Elementary 1 scoring over 71% Callaho Beniro ridden by Shaun West and owned by the Rix family

🥇First in the Elementary 2 scoring over 72% Callaho Beniro ridden by Shaun and owed by the Rix family.

🥈Second in Elementary 1 scoring over 70% in her first test at this level was Manor D’Or Quantica ridden by Shaun West and owned by Jane and Hannah March

🥉Third place in the Elementary 2 with a couple of baby mistakes still scoring nearly 67% was Manor D’Or Quantica again ridden by Shaun West and owned by Jane and Hannah March

🏵️Fourth in Elementary 1 and fifth in Elementary two but off the Podium only just was Nimco ridden by Shaun West and owned by Liza Linde this little mare is really going from strength to strength

🥇First Inter A Presumido ridden by Vay Snyman and owned by Vay and Claudia Berndt

✨ The start of a new and incredibly exciting journey ✨

Today Shaun started out in the show ring with Air Holidays Callaho Luther.
Luther is the kind of horse that would walk through fire for you if you have him on your side. He has his own ideas about the way things should be done and you are lucky if you convince him otherwise 😂

We attended the Hollard Equipage Pre-Easter Show in the 1.10m to start to get the feel in the ring. In their 2phase class they were clear and in the A2 they tested out a few more gears which earned the pair a clear and 6th place 🏅🏅

Even though it’s a very new partnership we are extremely thankful to all of their sponsors for coming on board and making sure that Luther is cared for like the king 👑 he is.

Last Saturday we had our first competition for the year at the Highland Equestrian Centre Dressage Series 2024.

We took 5 horses from Wesman Stables to compete and both Shaun and myself had several clients also riding.

It was a big day as not only was it the first show for the year but most of the horses stepped up a grade from last year.

First up was Callaho Beniro, owned by the Rix family and Ridden by Shaun, stepping out in their first Elementary, for a first and a second with scores of over 71% and 70% and achieving their first 9s for medium trot!

In the same class Shaun also rode Nimco owned by Liza Linde in their first Elementy this combination was third in both their test with scores over 67% and over 69%!

Also in the elementry Vay’s student Andreia Ho-Tong, gave Shaun a good run for his money to win one test with a cracking score of over 74% also in her first go at this level!

Shaun’s student Jessica Otto, who had her elementry debut rode two very respectable test to be just out of the placings.

Shaun’s third ride, Manor D’Or QuanticA owned by the March family, competed in the novice for two second places and also scoring a 69 and 71% this exquisite mare is about to upgrade to elementary and is for sale, she’s a very serious FEI prospect for the future.

Vay rode Claudia Berndt’s Emboçado in the Advanced for a second place just a fraction under 70% beaten by his own student Margarita Theodoru who won the class with over 70%! Erin Muller, another of Vay’s students rode her first test out of juniors also in the advanced for a very respectable score to keep up with the adults, this is one up and coming rider to watch!

Vay had a cracking test in the Inter I with his and Claudia Berndt’s Presumido, scoring just below 72%

Claudia’s young horse ridden by Louise Kotze also picked up a placing in the novice being still very new to the level.

All in all it was a very successful first show of the season with all the horses stepping up beautifully!

Braveheart… This adorable little guy is now retired and living his best life with us. Although his quirky personality has enabled many young riders to have a great start to their career.
He always has such a content look on his face and is such a spot of colour to the stables.

This morning we were invited to attend the year end and Christmas party for Mooibly Stables. What a stunning event put on by Petro and her team.
Everyone received a really thoughtful gift from Afrigen. This included a joint supplement, dental spray, wound spray, hair and skin shampoo and a muscle gel. We are looking forward to trying these products out on various horses at our own yard and seeing the results.

Horse #5 in stable 3 is Nabucco

Nabucco is owned by Paige Prangley-main. He knows how to keep Paige on her toes and does it all with an innocent eye. Since arriving he has flourished and really settled into life here.
He doesn’t do well with sharing attention and when Paige is busy with her other horse Nabucco makes it very clear that it’s not acceptable.
