ins is the most remarkable sanctuary, for dogs who have lost their families or have been rescued from dire situations. Every day the dedicated team at Dogtown provide individual care to each of these dogs in a peaceful, tranquil setting while they wait for their forever homes. There is often a misconception that all rescue dogs are going to be damaged in some way, but that’s simply not true. There are plenty of wonderful dogs at Dogtown SA, who through no fault of their own have found themselves homeless and are just hoping for a second chance at a new life in a loving home. Sometimes however there are sadly a few dogs that have had a rough time and are struggling. At Dogtown we have a dedicated rehabilitation area where our full time qualified trainers and behaviourists work tirelessly each day, improving the lives of these misunderstood dogs. Often being their last glimmer of hope to become well-adjusted dogs who can live full and happy lives. Our retirement village provides a safe and loving environment for the more mature residents who often require special medical care and are sadly dumped at animal shelters when they become too much trouble. With your help, we can SAVE more lives and provide the best care for the abandoned and abused, while we search for loving families that will give them their happy ever after. We aim to offer a lifelong commitment to the dogs that come into our care and a lifetime of support to their new families.

Hi friends, it’s me Roadi, I’ve been discharged from the vet woohooo. Now I’m heading to Doggy Paddle - Animal Hydrotherapy Centre for my therapy to make my legs nice and strong. I’m super excited to be able to spend some time outside and to burn off some energy. Because now my legs work a little I just want to zoom zoom zoom. But I have to stay in smaller areas for now so I don’t over do it 🤪. Wait till you see me getting all the therapy stuff done. I’ve been told it’s awesome but I’m not really sure what it’s all about. All I know is I need to figure out how to get myself about because I’ve seen some cool looking friends here. I’m a bit of a celeb apparently everyone knows about the Roadi but if one more person says he’s smaller than I thought I’m going to get a complex. Mamma Tracy laughed because she said she gets that all the time too. And told me all the best things come in small packages, like diamonds . He he I think that’s what she tells herself. I’m still young and growing so I won’t be this small forever.

Anyhoo I just wanted to let you know how I’m doing and to thank you again for giving me a chance at life. When you see me playing and running you will know it’s all because of you. My story could have ended the day I was found paralysed tied to a kennel at the side of the road and you said NO, that’s not how his life ends, we want him to see how wonderful life can be, and it’s finally happening for me. We really have the best supporters anyone could ever ask for!

We always feel a bit sorry for ourselves on Christmas Day, looking at all the dogs who are waiting and hoping to be adopted. But our hearts were full on Christmas Day while dishing up for the dogs, boy oh boy were they spoiled!

Thank you Judy & Sam, for spending hours and hours cooking a delicious Christmas Day meal for our dogs, they LOVED it!

It's not every day our dogs get to enjoy boneless chicken breast, chicken livers, butternut, spinach and rice, all cooked in broth! The biggest bonus is that Judy & Sam cooked so much, we had enough for breakfast AND dinner!

Thank you so much Judy & Sam for making this day so special for the incredible dogs of Dogtown ❤

What a wonderful end to 2024!
On 31 December our handsome Quill joined his forever family!

For those who don't remember his rescue, he lived a pretty sad life before Dogtown. Confined to a small cage with little to none interaction, let alone love and affection.

But that is all behind him now, he is now living his very best life ♥️

Thank you Townies, you are the ones who make this possible. You guys allowed us to save Quill and give him this wonderful opportunity to experience life the way it should be!

Just back from visiting Roadi today and he is full of it. When I arrived they’d set up a lovely mat outside for us to get some vitamin d and I thought lovely we can just chill together. I hadn’t sat down for a minute and he was trying to get up and run off 🥴. He was using his cone of shame to help him up. He is definitely feeling better, I think he’s more frustrated than anything. His legs with the operations don’t seem to be bothering him at all it seems to be the missing limb that’s confusing him more. But this boy is ready for some serious zoomies. I tried to take a video of him but everytime I took my eye off him to set the camera up he was trying to make the big escape.
He is starting therapy now to build those legs up and if you would like to help us continue his care please

Hi there friends. Roadi here popping in to let you know, I’m starting to learn how to stand on my bionic legs. They need to hurry up and work already because I’ve got some serious zoomies I need to get out of my system. They’re trying to make me eat dog food now and I’ve become quite accustomed to my Woolies butter basted chicken, so they put bits in there to fool me. But I know 🤪.
I am so grateful I am here to share my recovery with you. I sure am lucky that Dogtown found me because they told me the Townies will rally together to save me and you did. I’m still a puppy and you’ve gave me my whole life ahead of me now. Thank you for giving me a chance. I can’t wait to show you my bionic legs in action. I have to go and have something called therapy once I get out of the hospital so I can get some help for my legs to be strong for zoomies. I still can’t believe this is my life. Yummy meals, comfy bed, being told how beautiful I am at least once every hour 🥰. How can the one person I know tie me to a broken kennel at the side of the road paralysed and in pain in the rain. Then amazing humans like you who don’t even know me, help save my life. I love you townies, thank you for believing I was worth it.

Although we got a set back on Christmas Day I still think Im a Christmas miracle because of you. 🥰❤️

Hey townies, hope you all had an amazing festive season with your families. I didn’t want to ruin your Christmas but we had some bad news on Christmas Day 💔. One of our boys legs was no longer sending blood to his foot. We’re not exactly sure of what the cause was but it’s a suspected clot. The amazing vets at Fourways Vet Hospital were devestated at this new unexpected turn of events. They were convinced if the leg was removed he would bounce back as he’s been a trooper from the get go. He has just been super grateful to have a warm comfy bed, yummy food and endless love. He’s become a firm favourite in the hospital with his pure resilience and happy little face. You can see just how happy he is to be finally loved. He loves his roast chicken and ear tickles.
We were torn to whether we amputate and give him a chance or to finally give up. After a lot of soul searching and many conversations with the vets it was decided as he was so young and had come through his other ops so well, we would give him a chance. So on Christmas Day our Roadi lost a limb 😢. Today he’s having his big op on his hip which will take minimum 4 hours then it’s a road to rehab and recovery for our boy.
You have all been so amazing and supported our boy through this journey.

Our boy Roadi is doing really well today. Christmas came early for this little boy. He is much more alert as he’s starting to feel much better. His appetite is back with a vengeance and he is loving his chicken. It’s so lovely to see his little personality coming out. For the first few days he just wanted to sleep. The more I think about it, apart from being abandoned in the storm at the side of the road. He was in terrible pain so of course when he got a comfy warm bed for his bones he just wanted to catch up on some much needed pain free sleep. Even though he’s had 2 big operations already you would never know he’s so happy. They were going to do his big operation tomorrow, but have decided to delay his next op till after Christmas to give him some more time to recover from his other operations and build up some strength on the operated leg. I tell him everyday how many people love him and have helped him get this special care and he asked me to tell you all he’s so happy that you love him and he loves you all so much. We joked that he will be the bionic dog once his other leg heals too.
