Meet Duke – A quirky senior looking for his forever family 🏡❤️

Duke is one of our golden oldies, and he’s hoping for a loving home where he can spend his senior years surrounded by love and comfort. 🐾✨

Duke's journey hasn’t been easy. He had a rough start, living on the streets and fending for himself. But despite his tough beginning, Duke is a sweetheart who has blossomed into a cuddle bug of note. He’s mastered his basic obedience training and is an incredibly clever boy who loves everyone he meets. 🐕💙

One of the cutest things about Duke? When he’s happy (which is pretty much all the time!), he can’t just wag his tail – he wags his entire body! It's the most beautiful sight to see, a true reflection of his joyful spirit. 🥰

Duke loves to play with his toys and will happily bring a ball to anyone around him. His friendly, quirky personality makes him such a joy to be around – he truly has so much love to give. 🎾❤️

He also has a fondness for water, often hopping into his little paddle pool to relax without a care in the world. 🌊🐾

Duke is an 8-year-old Terrier blend, medium-sized and well-suited to a home with children and other domestic animals. With his loving nature and playful quirks, Duke would make a wonderful companion for any family.

Meet Louis – A sweet senior looking for a forever home 🏡❤️

Our hearts are broken for this golden oldie. After the recent passing of his sister and best friend, Louis finds himself alone for the first time in his life. 💔

At 13 years old, Louis is a beautiful Labrador/Terrier mix who has been patiently waiting at DogTown for many years. Being an older boy, we know the chances of adoption are slim, but we’re holding out hope for a miracle – and maybe you could be the one to make it happen. 🌟

Louis is a gentle soul who loves people and adores going for short strolls. He may not walk far these days, but he cherishes every outing. And when he’s not walking, you can find him splashing around in the paddle pool, tail wagging non-stop. 🐕💦

His sweet personality shines through, and despite his loss, Louis remains a happy boy, always ready for some love. He gets along great with children and other dogs – making him a perfect addition to a family that can offer him the love and comfort he deserves in his golden years. 🥰

🐾 Tuesday Tip: How to safely introduce a new dog to your home 🐾

Bringing home a new dog is an exciting time, but for a smooth transition—especially in a multi-pet household—introductions need to be done carefully and slowly. Here’s a step-by-step guide to ensure a harmonious start for your furry family! 🐶🐱

Step 1: Neutral Territory
Start the introduction in a neutral space, like a park or a friend’s garden, where neither dog feels territorial. Keep both dogs on leashes, allowing them to sniff each other at a distance before slowly moving closer.

Step 2: Controlled Home Introduction
Once home, keep the new dog on a leash and let them explore one room at a time. Allow your resident dog to approach gradually while supervised. Keep initial interactions short and positive.

Step 3: Separate Spaces
Give both dogs their own space to retreat to, ensuring they have separate food bowls, beds, and toys to avoid resource guarding. It’s important for each dog to feel secure in their own area.

Step 4: Manage Excitement Levels

Meet Pax, a lovable 3-year-old Weimaraner blend who's searching for his forever home! 🐾

This handsome boy is an energetic, playful spirit with a heart full of love. Although Pax can be a little shy when meeting new people, once he warms up, you'll see his outgoing personality shine. He’s full of energy and a total goofball, especially when his favourite toys are involved.

Pax has a serious passion for playtime! 🎾

Whether it’s a squeaky ball, a tennis ball in a sock, or anything he can toss around, Pax loves to zoom around the garden, entertaining himself with games he invents. Watching him throw his toys and chase after them is pure joy! His bouncy squeaky ball is his absolute favourite, and his zoomies will have you in stitches.

Not only is Pax playful, but he's also incredibly clever! He took to clicker training instantly and loves learning new tricks. He can even shake your hand like a gentleman!

Pax is very focused during training sessions and thrives with mental stimulation. When it’s time for a walk, Pax is a pro—he walks beautifully on a lead and enjoys exploring the world with you by his side.

One of Pax’s most striking features is his unique light-coloured eyes, which only add to his charm. And when those zoomies kick in, toy in mouth, he’s one of the cutest sights you'll ever see!

🌟 Monday Motivation: The strength of Apache 🌟

Good morning, Dogtown family! Let's kick off this week with a story of resilience and hope that embodies the very spirit of why we do what we do.

Meet Apache, our sweet senior girl who has been with us for quite some time. Recently, we noticed that Apache wasn’t her usual self—her abdomen was sensitive and enlarged. Our instincts told us something was wrong, so we took her to the vet for a checkup. That’s when we got the news no one wants to hear: Apache had a splenic tumour.

In a race against time, she underwent emergency surgery that very day. Given her age, we were deeply worried that she might not survive the procedure. But Apache, true to her resilient nature, pulled through! Her spleen has been removed, and now she’s on the road to recovery, though she needs close monitoring.

Apache’s journey is far from over, and neither is ours. We’re doing everything in our power to make sure she recovers fully, but we need your help to cover her vet bills. Every little bit counts, and your support can make all the difference in ensuring Apache gets the care she deserves. 🐾 Training Tip Tuesday! 🐾

Teaching your dog to sit is one of the most basic and important commands! Here's how to get started:

1️⃣ Hold a treat close to your dog's nose.
2️⃣ Slowly move your hand up, allowing their head to follow the treat and causing their bottom to lower.
3️⃣ As soon as their bottom touches the ground, say "sit" and give them the treat with lots of praise!

Practice makes perfect, so be patient and have fun! 🎉✨
