We 'loose' some but in the same breath, we 'win' some...
Jazz boarded 1st this morning and is on his way to Portugal while Mr Miles will arrive in Dubai tomorrow morning...
We also welcomed Tibby & Fifi, 🐈🐈, along with brother Milo🐕 from Durban, heading for Scotland early next week as well as Luna from Cape Town who will spend a couple of months with us prior to joining her human family in Australia 🤗

Today was tough! Really tough!💔
Pablo & Coyote... Who will be awaiting me in front of my bed... You both came such a long way! Not only time wise (you have been part and parcel of the Berrakaw since January! Eleven months!) but also in self-development and may I refer to 'growing'? Pablo adapted quicker to the 'pack' than Coyote who took about 2 months before he had the confidence to peek around the corner of the verandah but since then, all stops were 'pulled'.
These two dogz are true 'soft, silent, gentlemen' if I may refer to a dog this way... Pablo's face may not have the 'invitingly' give-me-cuddle look, but boy o boy, this boy is affectionate! He would cuddle up with his head on your lap gently requesting a cuddle and a kiss... Wow, I don't wanna go to bed tonight 😭😭😭
But I knew, when I sign up for this life that I have to return those not belonging to me... Your paw prints will always remain on Berrakaw's soil but most of all in our hearts!
The same applies to Olli, except for the 'silent and gentle' description as Olli doesn't have a 'calm down on enthusiasm' switch off button🤣...but... He lives his life true to his 'wiring' and we would not like him any other way!

In general human Mommy's & Daddy's find it very hard to believe that their furry kiddies will ever entering a crate, let alone being comfortable sleeping in a crate...
To us crate training is the foundation of 'easy travels' as all pets have to fly in their travel crates. We cannot remove all stress related to travelling but we can definitely make it easier on our furry companions!

I copied the following article from Wikipedia:

Allelomimetic behavior or allomimetic behavior is a range of activities in which the performance of a behavior increases the probability of that behavior being performed by other nearby animals. Allelomimetic behavior is sometimes called contagious behavior and has strong components of social facilitation, imitation, and group coordination. It is usually considered to occur between members of the same species. An alternate definition is that allelomimetic behavior is a more intense or more frequent response or the initiation of an already known response, when others around the individual are engaged in the same behavior. It is often referred to as synchronous behavior, mimetic behavior, imitative behavior, and social facilitation.

Allelomimetic behavior is displayed in all animals and can occur in any stage of life, but usually starts at a young age.
This behavior will continue throughout life, especially when an individual is living in a large group that emphasizes group cohesion. Cohesion is seen as a prerequisite for group living, with synchronous activity being crucial for social cohesion.
However, animals in large cohesive groups face trade-offs when allelomimetic behavior is adopted. If the behavior is adopted then the risk of predation or capture decreases significantly but the inter-individual competition for immediate resources, such as food, mates, and space, will increase when cohesion is still stressed.
Many collective group decisions in animals are the result of allelomimetism and can be explained by allelomimetic behaviors.
Some examples are the cockroaches choosing a single aggregation site, schooling behaviors in fishes, and pheromone-based path selection in ants that allows all the workers to go down the same path to a specific food source.
Allelomimetic behavior can also be seen as an animal welfare indicator. For example, if cattle do not have enough room to all lie down simultaneously then it indicates that there are not enough resources present and this can result in lameness of the animals that are forced to stand.
[5] Allomimicry is affected by circadian rhythms and circadian cycles of activity within groups which can give the overall appearance of poor animal welfare, if allomimetic behavior were to be used as a welfare indicator then it must be measured several times throughout the course of a day.
Most mechanisms involved in performing allelomimetic behavior do not require circadian rhythms to function. Decisions at the individual level are, more often than not, enough to encourage allelomimetism. Patterns of allelomimetic behavior can vary from species to species and can possibly explain other behaviors seen in the animal kingdom.

UPDATE:
Our State Vets availed their services on 19, 20 & 21 Dec allowing relocating agents to make an appointment on only one of these days.
Praise the Lord - our pets departing the 25 & 26th Dec will be able to fly. The pets scheduled to depart on 8 Jan will now only leave on the 9th as their documents will be endorsed on Monday, 8 Jan...
All will be well😀🙏🏻🙌🏻

We started with Luke & Vader boarding their plane to Australia 🇦🇺
Proceeded with Pepsi to Canada🍁
(only to collect Pepsi again who was bumped for the 2nd time due to technical challenges on ET😕)
Next was Malaika to New Zealand 🇳🇿 accompanied by Champ who will proceed his journey to Australia via Auckland and then...
Chivas was delivered in time to catch her flight to the USA 🇺🇸
A 3rd trip to the airport late this afternoon is bringing Bella 🐈‍⬛home from Durban. She will remain with us for a couple of days before catching her flight to Australia.

Will your dog be travelling to Australia or NZ anytime now up to 10 Jan?
Please get the blood tests done (Leishmania Infantum and if your dog is still intact, Brucella Canis) either on Friday or Saturday to ensure that the blood samples reach Onderstepoort by the latest, Monday 4 Dec as this is the last sample submission date for 2023. The Labs will reopen on 8 Jan 24.

This morning started off by waving good bye to Daisy and Woeska 🇦🇺
Then Malaika was bumped from her flight as the Qantas plane apparently suffered a bird strike and all AVI booked for today, was cancelled... 🤔
The day ended more successfully when Riley 🇮🇪 & Sproetjies 🇳🇱 were checked in late afternoon.

British Airways has a maximum weight restriction of 64kg for dog & crate... Wooden travel crates are currently 'forcing' us to utilise other airlines... Soon we will be able to offer our clients an alternative, plastic travel crate! As it is our motto to keep pet & owner united, we will offer these crates to other pet travel agencies for sale as well😜...

Our day didn't start too bright as Moose & Nova were bumped from their Ethiopian Flight to Canada of which we received the OK2FWD early last week already...
It is always difficult to inform the owners of these challenges.
However, the day did turn out brighter as our pooches, representing 5 families in Aussie-land did board and departed successfully to their new motherland a few hours later...

Third time lucky! Meisie was supposed to arrive in Dublin on the 28th of September. All was set and done until the last minute when Lufthansa postponed her flight with a week. Just prior to departure from home on Tuesday, we once again received a call informing us that Meisie was once again bumped from the flight due to technical errors on Lufthansa's plane... We managed to secure a place on KLM for tonight and we are extremely happy to say that Meisie is finally on her way home!
