Electronic-Cigarettes are toxic to pets.

The signs of ni****ne poisoning may begin within 15-30 minutes of exposure to e-liquid

Symptoms:
- Excessive drooling
- Vomiting with or without diarrhea
- Agitation or restlessness
- Increased respiratory rate or panting
Signs my progress to:
- Excitation
- Disorientation
- Tremors
- Twitching
- Convulsions or seizures
- Increased heart rate
- Increased blood pressure
Further progression:
- Profound weakness
- paralysis
- cardiac arrest
- hypotension
- coma
- death

Prompt and aggressive veterinary care is required to successfully manage poisoning from e-juice exposure.

Bladder stones
What are the clinical signs of bladder stones?
The most common signs that a dog has bladder stones are hematuria (blood in the urine) and dysuria (straining to urinate).
A complete obstruction is potentially life threatening and requires immediate emergency treatment. A urinary obstruction will usually be recognized in a dog that is straining to urinate without producing any urine, or is only producing small squirts of urine.

JPS is an intervention procedure most effectively performed on puppies between 15 and 18 weeks old.
JPS alters the orientation of the hip sockets, so the femoral heads are less likely to slide out of the joint (subluxate).

It involves premature and purposeful fusion of the p***c symphysis cartilage, which prevents further bone growth in that area. The rest of the pelvis continues to grow, creating a hip socket that more effectively covers and holds the femoral heads in place.

Endoscopy offered at Accuvet: The endoscope allows full color viewing of the esophagus, stomach and the upper part of the small intestine. The clinician can identify abnormalities such as inflammation, abnormal swelling, or areas of scarring or stricture (abnormal narrowing). If a foreign body, such as a bone, stick, rock, toy, coin, string, or hairball is present, it can usually be seen and retrieved. Chocie

Chocie was referred to us by another practice in Pretoria for spinal surgery. He was not able to use his hindlegs at all before surgery. Dr Louw performed spinal surgery on him as an emergency procedure. Look at him now!

Achilles the Amazing

Video supplied to us by our client. Thank you so much for this. We have seen an increase in poisonings in Pretoria east lately. This valued client had all three his dogs poisoned. With a very late night and dedication Accuvet managed to pull all three dogs through. Achilles featuring here took the biggest hit and suffered brain damage but is recovering daily.

This is a normal ultrasound of a bladder where urine is injected via the ureter from the kidneys-the little spurts are urine injections into the bladder. Well done to Shirley Huysamen with the correct diagnosis! Thanks to everyone who took part. Mystery Monday!! On Tuesday because of public holiday. Please identify what's happening on this ultrasound on a male dog. Exciting shop vouchers for the first correct ID. No radiologists or sonographers will be eligible for the prize in this round unfortunately.

Rolo

AVH has a special interest in orthopedics and especially spinal work. Rolo recently came in with loss of sensation in his hind legs and rapidly progressed to complete paralysis in his hindquarters. After a combined laminectomy and pediculectomy on two adjacent vertebrae Rolo is making a good recovery through physiotherapy and some TLC. What a champ!
