🚨 Summer Warning for Pet Owners in South Africa: Snake Bites 🚨

As temperatures rise, so does the risk of snake encounters, especially in warmer months. South Africa is home to a variety of venomous snakes, and summer can see an increase in snake activity. 🐍☀️

💡 Key things to remember:

Snakes are more active during summer, often seeking shelter in gardens, long grass, or even under patios.
Protect your pets by keeping them on leashes during walks in unfamiliar areas and regularly checking your garden for signs of snakes.
Know the signs of a snake bite: sudden lethargy, swelling, or abnormal breathing in your pet can indicate a venomous bite.
Act fast: If you suspect your pet has been bitten, seek immediate veterinary help. Time is critical!

Over the holiday season we are more likely to tackle jobs like exterminating pests with substances that may be harmful to our furry friends. When vacationing in a new environment, this also means exposure to new toxins like insecticides, pesticides and new toxic plants. It is a good idea to have a plan of action in mind, should your pet eat a chemical or plant that they aren't supposed to.

A Multipurpose Treat

Animals cannot brush their own teeth, so we encourage their owners to do so. On top of that, specific types of treats can also help clean animals' teeth. We have a whole range of chews to encourage dental health as we want to focus especially on animal dentistry awareness in November. Come and buy your dog a multipurpose treat! ‐------ Diere kan nie hul eie tande borsel nie, daarom moedig ons hul eienaars aan om dit te doen. Boonop kan spesifieke soorte lekkernye ook help om diere se tande skoon te maak. Ons het 'n hele reeks kou-goedjies om tande gesondheid aan te moedig, want ons wil veral fokus op diere-tandheelkunde bewusmaking in November. Kom koop vir jou hond 'n veeldoelige bederf!

Rolo was die naweek by ons vir 'n nare pofadderbyt. Ten minste kon sy eienaars vinnig reageer en Dr Ronelle kon spoedig vir hom die nodige teengif binne-aars inspuit. Pofadderbyte is sitotoksies wat beteken dat dit vernietigting van die weefsel in die area van die byt veroorsaak. Dit veroorsaak ook dat die bloed stadiger stol, wat beteken dat die hele area van weefselskade met bloed vul en ongelooflik seer is. Op dié video gesels Dr Ronelle lekker met Rolo oor ons hospitaalkos. Dit lyk darem nie hy vind dit te onaangenaam nie! 😂

FIRST VET VISIT Nine baby Schnauzer puppies had their first vet visit today (except of course that they were born in our hospital). They all received their first vaccination, a microchip, deworming and a health check. -------- EERSTE VEEARTS BESOEK Nege baba Shnauzer hondjies het vandag hulle eerste besoek aan 'n veearts gehad (behalwe natuurlik dat hulle in ons hospitaal gebore is). Hulle almal het hulle eerste enting, 'n microchip, ontwurming en 'n gesondheidsondersoek ontvang.

BLUE RED 'N LEWE Dr Ronelle se Doberman, Blue, het ons vanoggend besoek om 'n baie belangrike taak te verrig. Een van ons pasiënte het 'n dringende bloedoortapping nodig gehad en Blue het ingespring om te help! Kyk hoe soet lê hy vir die prosedure. 🥰 BLUE SAVES A LIFE Dr. Ronelle's Doberman, Blue, visited us this morning to perform a very important task. One of our patients needed an urgent blood transfusion and Blue stepped in to help! Look how good he is during the procedure.🥰

Dr Elna se kat, Patrys, geniet haar gecko 😂 Dis net een van die nuwe speelgoedjies wat in ons winkel te koop is vir ons spesiale katte-maand.🐱
