This guy is an absolute dream boat , very flashy boy with movement to die for!
Sensitive with loads of quality. Soft mouth, beautiful paces with the kindest nature. Looking for his own person to love and grow with. No vices, easy to handle on the ground, with a beautiful, curious personality, a kinder soul you wonโ€™t meet.
A naturally forward gelding but easy to control and very responsive.
He is not for a novice rider , but if you give him a chance , heโ€™ll give you his heart.

Dearest Riders,

Please let me remind you of something very important. Horse showing, riding and training are insanely difficult. If you have a crappy ride, a less than stellar show ring result (or if you made your trainer want to pull their hair out today), it just means there's more to learn. The people who had good rides today are not exempt from disappointing rides tomorrow. They also have bad days and, if they're very experienced riders, they've had a whole bunch of bad days.

There will always be someone out there on a more talented horse, someone with a bigger bank account, someone who never struggled to learn to sit the trot...life isn't fair. You probably can't win the lottery or grow 5 more inches of leg. You can, however, wake up every morning and be thankful that you're able to ride horses. Work hard at becoming the best rider you can be with the body and the bank account that you have right now. Work at being the rider your horse wants up there on his back. Your horse's opinion of your riding is more valuable than any judge's opinion could ever be.

โ€œTrust meโ€

Thatโ€™s what we say to our horses every time we put a headcollar on and ask them to follow us, put tack on and climb onboard or walk them up a ramp onto a horsebox.

โ€œTrust meโ€ we say as we give them a swift kick in the ribs or over zealous โ€œhalf haltโ€ for not doing what we ask, when the likelihood is we asked the wrong question or asked the question wrong.

โ€œTrust meโ€ we say as we put a bigger, harsher bit in their mouth because we want the greatest control with the least effort, when a bit of time and training could create a far more harmonious relationship with no need for additional metalwork.

โ€œTrust meโ€ we say as we leave them stood in a stable 23 hours a day, not allowing them any time to be a horse, because turn out is โ€œtoo riskyโ€, admitting that our bank balance is more important than our horseโ€™s happiness.

โ€œTrust meโ€ we say as we refuse to listen to or acknowledge obvious signs of pain or discomfort, we just reach for the spurs, supplements of bigger bit, rather than taking a step back, remembering horses do not choose to misbehave, and investigating the real reason for the behaviour.

It amazes me that day after day, week after week, year after year, these horses STILL believe us when we say โ€œtrust meโ€. They still try and perform for riders that put success and titles far above their horses welfare and happiness.

And we wonder why horses say no. We wonder why we get explosive behaviour that turns unmanageable or โ€œdangerousโ€.

So next time you ask your horse to trust you, you have to show them why trusting you is the safer and easier option. Working with horses is a privilege, not a right and your actions should always reflect that.

When you say โ€œtrust meโ€ to your horse, make sure you give them a reason to.

Say it louder for the people in the back!!! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™

I heard a great quote the other day that I've been thinking a lot about lately. "The most honest person in the room is the problem child".

When it comes to horses, they are naturally designed to be good liars. From a prey perspective, they're supposed to lie to predators about their physical and mental weaknesses, because their very survival depends upon it.

"Good" horses are good liars. They're stoic about physical ailments, they tolerate mistakes, and they can perform their duties without needing to be heard by their human handler, or requiring a lot of skill from a rider. These are horses we value a lot in our equestrian society, and they're great for many reasons.

Problem horses are very bad liars. They cannot just go on with life when they are hurt, or upset, or feeling like their needs are not acknowledged or met.

They either find somebody who understands that, or they are sent to a trainer who's main job is to teach them to learn to SUPPRESS this urge to constantly communicate their emotions and needs, effectively becoming better liars. Some horses can learn this, but the ones that cannot are labelled permanent problems, and often find themselves shuffled around.

But what happens if we begin to value communication over compliance? What if we prioritize the relationship before our egos, and trust before our human goals?

We can all agree that we would prefer to be in a meaningful human relationship that ivalues empathy to a different perspective/reality. Why wouldn't we consciously cultivate the same relationships with our equine partners? Would that not be beneficial for everyone?

The next time you find yourself making a binary judgement about your horse's behavior, pause for a moment instead and consider the root cause of it. What are they trying to communicate? How can you help meet their needs and build trust instead of prioritizing your ego in that moment and demanding compliance because you've arbitrarily decided you deserve it?

Iโ€™ve never seen a more misunderstood animal more than ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐‡๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž ๐“๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ˆ๐ฌ ๐‡๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ .

Iโ€™ve been trying to tell you that I am in pain, but you donโ€™t seem to listen.

I show you that Iโ€™m in pain by not being willing to work but you just call me ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐›๐›๐จ๐ซ๐ง or ๐ฅ๐š๐ณ๐ฒ. Instead of helping me, you just ๐ค๐ข๐œ๐ค ๐ก๐š๐ซ๐๐ž๐ซ.

I show you that Iโ€™m in pain by rearing when you try to ride me, but you enjoy showing people you can sit to a rear. Instead of getting off and listening, you just say

I show you that Iโ€™m in pain by throwing my head in the air, but you just say itโ€™s one of ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ข๐œ๐ž๐ฌ. Instead of helping me, you just buy ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ž ๐ ๐š๐๐ ๐ž๐ญ๐ฌ so that I can no longer ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐š๐ข๐ซ.

I show you that Iโ€™m in pain by bolting, but you just get scared and decide Iโ€™m not the one for you. You sell me and I still remain as ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐‡๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž ๐“๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ˆ๐ฌ ๐‡๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ .

Itโ€™s our responsibility as animal owners to do right by them, horses canโ€™t speak, they communicate through their actions. So we need to listen!

9/10 times โ€œnegative behaviourโ€ is caused my pain, the rest is learnt behaviour. Either way I always check for pain first.

๐“๐ก๐ž ๐‡๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž ๐“๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ˆ๐ฌ ๐‡๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ , deserves the world. The amount of tolerance, loyalty, patience and trust the hurting horse has, is something I can only dream of having.
