It's a Zuperdog Thing! 🐾 Our first walk of 2024 there's no better way to start the weekend🤩🐾.
Welcome to Day 14 of our #15 Days of Enrichment!
Today we will focus on enrichment with the help of a snuffle mat. Dogs are natural scavengers, and their sense of smell is the primary way they interpret the world. By allowing dogs to sniff for their food, we are tapping into their foraging instinct.
What are the benefits of using a snuffle mat?
• It provides mental stimulation, which can help to calm your dog.
• It slows down eating, which can reduce the risk of bloat.
• It promotes relaxation, as sniffing is a calming activity for dogs.
If you're interested in purchasing a snuffle mat, which makes a great Christmas gift for your furry family member, you can contact https://web.facebook.com/PawPantryOfficial. They supply all of Zuperdog Training Academy's snuffle needs.

Welcome to Day 13 of our #15 Days of Enrichment!
Today, we will focus on fun and fast💨 recalls. Building a reliable recall is a crucial skill every dog owner should train their dog. However, it is often underestimated by most owners. If your dog does not return when you give the current recall cue, it may be time to change it as your current cue may be "poisoned". The best cues are specific words or a whistle. Let's start working on building a strong recall with our furry friends! 🐕🐩
When you teach your dog a new recall cue, they must understand two things:
• The recall cue means they will receive the best reward available.
• The recall cue means they get to return to whatever they were doing before you called them, provided that it's safe.
Here are a few games you can play to make your recalls more fun:
• If your dog tends to run off and not return, keep them on a long line attached to their harness. This will prevent them from rehearsing the behavior of running off.
• Have two different types of treats available - one of lower value and one of higher value.
• Throw a less valuable treat away from you and wait for your dog to eat it. Then, run in the opposite direction. Repeat this a few times, and every other time, call your dog and reward them with the high-value treat from your hand. Once your dog is enjoying the game and running back to you as soon as the treat is eaten, you can move on to the next step.
• Still using the two different value treats, throw a treat and wait for your dog to eat it. Then, run in the opposite direction and circle with your dog. Once the circle is completed, throw a treat and run away again.
• If your dog is toy-driven, throw a treat, recall them, and then play a game of tug.
• Ask a family member to restrain your dog and walk away animatedly. Turn and recall your dog, but don't wait for them to sit. This is not an obedience session, it's just for fun.
• Remember, never scold your dog for returni
Welcome to Day 12 of our #15 Days of Enrichment!
Today, we will focus on strengthening your relationship with your dog and mentally enriching their day by teaching them how to bow.
Did you know that the bow trick can help improve your dog's rear-end awareness and serve as a stretching exercise? It's a great way to stretch your dog's hamstrings and back, and it's also a really cute trick to show off!
Here's how to teach your dog to bow:
• First, make sure your dog is familiar with the stand position. Prepare some delicious treats to reward your dog.
• From the stand position, lure your dog to put their elbows on the floor, and mark and reward them while they're in the bow position.
• You need to reward rapidly, as most dogs will lie down, and we don't want them to get confused between the down and bow positions.
• Repeat the process above until your dog can hold the bow position for a few seconds, and then add your cue for the bow.
• Once your dog is successful 8 out of 10 times, you can start asking them to hold the bow position longer.

Welcome to Day 7 of our #15 Days of Enrichment!
Today, our focus will be on enhancing your dog's body awareness, proprioception, and coordination through the back-up onto an object exercise.
The exercise involves having your dog back up onto an object, which helps them improve their sense of where their body is in space without being able to see where they are placing their feet. This is particularly useful in strengthening their stabilizers and enhancing the range of motion of their hind limbs. It is important to ensure that the object you choose for the exercise is safe, sturdy, and won't slip or fall underneath your dog while performing the exercise. Step-by-step instructions are in the comment. Share your training videos and our Instructors will give you some tips.

Welcome to Day 5 of our #15 Days of Enrichment!
Today, we will focus on teaching our furry friends a fun and super cute trick - the Roll-Over! By teaching tricks to our dogs, we can strengthen our bond, have fun, and mentally enrich their day. Roll-Over is a fun trick to teach your dog, but it's essential to do it safely and comfortably.
How to teach the Roll-Over:
• Choose a soft surface like grass, carpet, or a yoga mat to practice the trick. This will ensure your dog's safety and comfort.
• Make sure your dog is familiar with the "down" position before starting. Prepare some delicious treats to reward your dog.
• Once your dog is in the "down" position, lure them onto their side using a treat. Use your left hand to guide them to roll over to their right, and vice versa. Repeat this step several times.
• Once your dog is comfortable rolling onto their side, use the lure to get them to roll over completely. Once your dog can reliably roll-over eight out of ten times, start using the cue "roll-over."
• Some dogs may find rolling onto their backs scary, so if your dog shows any signs of discomfort or unease, contact our instructors for assistance.
• Remember to keep the training sessions fun, short, and rewarding for your dog. With patience and practice, your dog will learn the roll-over trick in no time.

Our aim throughout the #15 Days of Enrichment is to assist you in enhancing your dog's🐶life. Many dogs become bored because they lack an outlet for their physical and mental energy, which can lead to them seeking out ways to enrich their lives that may not be so great for their human companions.
Today we will focus on mental enrichment, bodily awareness, and coordination by teaching our dogs to shake a paw 🐾!
