💔 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐲: 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 💔

A year ago today, we said goodbye to Rocky, a brave Boxer who captured all of our hearts. His story began with hope, as he was rescued live on Facebook, but despite all our efforts and your incredible support, Rocky’s journey was a painful one. Diagnosed with terminal cancer after a long fight, he received the very best care possible – a premium diet, consultations with specialists, and round-the-clock veterinary attention. Though we couldn’t save him, we made sure his final days were filled with love, dignity, and peace.

Our Chief Inspector, Jaco Pieterse, kept his promise to Rocky by adopting him, ensuring he lived his final days pain-free, surrounded by love. On that difficult day, Jaco held Rocky close as we gently sent him over the rainbow bridge. The bond they shared, though brief, was powerful, and it’s a comfort to know Rocky left this world feeling cherished.

To all who followed Rocky’s story, sent words of kindness, and contributed to his care, we thank you. Your compassion changed his world. While Rocky is no longer with us, he will never be forgotten. May he run free and happy at the rainbow bridge, where we’ll meet again one day. 🌈🐾

In Rocky’s memory, we continue the fight for animals who suffer as he did. Chief Inspector Jaco Pieterse and his team will be participating in the 5km peace run this weekend as part of the Sanlam Marathon, and we need your help to keep them on the road. Our inspectors are on the front line, protecting animals like Rocky, but we can’t do it without your support.

May JUSTICE prevail! What a disgraceful act!

🚨 Animal Cruelty Charges Laid Against Steenberg SAPS Officer 🚨

💔 On 15 October 2024, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA laid criminal charges against a police officer from the Steenberg SAPS under the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962. This followed a deeply disturbing incident where a puppy was intentionally run over multiple times by the officer in Lavender Hill.

🐾 A brave community member came forward with a crucial witness statement, allowing the SPCA to pursue justice for this innocent 5-month-old puppy, who tragically had to be humanely euthanised due to the severity of his injuries. The SPCA is demanding the immediate suspension of the officer while the investigation unfolds.
