Hop Haven

Hop Haven Bunny Rescue is a rescue centre aimed at finding forever homes for unwanted bunnies. Each bunny has their own personality and individual preferences.

We raise awareness and educate the public about the correct care of rabbits. Hop Haven Bunny Rescue is home to around 50-80 bunnies that have been rescued from a number of different circumstances. We run primarily on the money that is brought in through our Open Day shops and with donations. We rescue, sterilise and give bunnies a safe and loving home until they find their forever homes. You've all seen our post about Peter (and man, we got so many applications for him!) But now it's time to finally introduce his brother, Paul 🐰

This guy is a cuddle in bunny form!

He follows me around daily waiting to be picked up, kissed and snuggled. He falls asleep in my arms most days while i feed the sanctuary bunnies 🙈

Paul is a precious boy and would need an indoor home where he gets loads of attention and love. He will also need a bunny friend as he wants to be cuddled 24/7. He is starting to make friends with some of the single girls here who love to groom him.

Paul is a neat, dwarf-mix bow who won't take long to re-learn how to use his litter box when he goes to an indoor home 🌼

Our Twiggy boy is living his BEST life in his foster home but we are really hoping that he can find his forever family soon! He has SO much love to give 🤍

His foster mom sent us a little message about Twiggy:

"Beautiful Twiggy Twigs.

This foster is just everything.
If I need to describe Twiggy in 2 words, it would be puppy love.

You know when you first meet puppies, and they are super excited to see you, follow you everywhere, and trip over your feet from excitement. Jip, that's Twiggy, our very special foster bunny.

Twigs absolutely ADORES humans, from handing out tons of kisses, following you around to be part of the human gang to sleeping on his own pillow in our bed. Twiggy ticks all the must-have boxes.

Things Twiggy loves :
• CUDDLES and lots of it. He loves to be picked up and cuddled with.
• Snack time, he zoomies up and down till you give him his delicious veggies.
• He loves to make a race track for himself, where he could show off all his binkies and zoomies. Especially in a tunnel where there are open gaps to peak through.
• Twiggy would love a free roaming home where he could be with his humans whenever he wants.
• Head rubs.

Meet Fuzz ✨️

Fuzz was surrendered yesterday as Fuzz was living outside and being chased by cats. I am glad thay he's safe and sound now!

This little guy has the coolest personality! Seconds after he was dropped off, he fell asleep in my arms and after having a snack and some water, i got endless kisses the rest of the day 🤍

Fuzz is a confident, friendly and super loving little cutie 🐰 he would make for a great indoor bunny who can spend loads of time with his humans 🌼

Fuzz is around 2.5 months old now. He has a great appetite and is all-round a happy, sweet, loving bunny ready and waiting for his new forever family 🤍🤍

Sweet Chino needs to find a new home!

It breaks mine and his owners hearts to have to post this but Chino needs a new forever home 🤍🤍

"Meet Chino

Our hearts are absolutely SHATTERED having to rehome our sweet boy.

We first met Chino when he got saved off the streets. Since the first night he bunny flopped on our bed, we fell in love with him, but our buns disapproved.

We have literally tried everything in our power to accommodate him, but unfortunately, after several bondings, (with the most wonderful, most experienced bonders ever) we couldn't get our buns to accept and love him as much as we do.
He is very lonely on his own and would love a friend.

Personality:
● Gentle boy.
● He loves humans and gives tons of kisses.
● He is very well behaved and loves to explore.
● He doesn't mind being picked up and would cuddle next to you every chance he gets.
● Mr. wiggler gets super excited for his food. His favorite veggies are Parsley and Kale.

We would love for him to find his forever home where he can be loved unconditionally.
He does well indoors and outdoors.

Everyone, please meet our newest boy that we rescued yesterday. We got a call saying this guy had wandered into someone's garden a little while back. They had tried to find his owners but had no success, so they contacted us to assist.

When we went to collect, we saw that this poor little guy was in a very sorry state. His nails are extremely long and looked painful, he was matted even though he's a short haired bunny and he hadn't had a proper nutritious meal in a while 💔

His foster has helped to trim down his nails a bit and brushed out most of the knots in his fur. He has been goven plenty of fresh hay and some veggies and is munching happily!

We have booked him in for his neuter next Thursday. If anyone is able to assist towards the costs of his neuter (R500), it would be much appreciated.

Finally, an official introduction for our new little buddy!

Everyone meet Denver 🤍✨️
(thank you for the very fitting name suggestion)

I got multiple calls and messages from concerned residents worried about this tiny rabbit running loose in the park. When I went to see if I could find him, I saw him sprinting across the park with a large cat chasing him! Poor baby was terrified and went to hide in some thick bushes. I went to set up a trap for him and popped in multiple times a day to feed and try get him to go into the trap.

Eventually, on Friday evening, I got a call from one of the residents saying that Denver has been caught so I rushed over to collect him. The poor angel was so scared and SO hungry. He didn't stop munching all night after realizing that he is safe and cozy now.

Thankfully Denver is still very young and he has a long life ahead of him which we are hoping will be in an amazing forever home with a family that will love and care for him and make sure he never feels scared an unsafe again.

I suspect that Denver is around 2.5 months old now. He is a healthy, sweet bunny who needs a patient and loving family to help him trust humans again 🤍 he is also really needing a bunny friend - he relies a lot on my foster babies for comfort so he would need to be adopted with a friend or as a companion for a single bunny or group looking for new friends to join 🐰

Denver will also be sterilized as per our adoption contract when he is 4 months old 🌼

🤍 Salty's History:
Salt was rescued almost 2 years ago from a home that could no longer care for him, his brother and his sister. The home turned unsafe for them and they didn't have adequate food or protection. One of our fosters went to collect all 3 and they've been safe with us ever since. Their sister Lyla was adopted a while back and Salty's brother Pepper was adopted late last year. The three had unbounded since coming to the sanctuary and all made new friends.

Salty has become a very chilled, sleepy boy that spends most of his days hanging out with Molly and Joy. Those three do not leave their corner and demand for snacks to be brought to them. They are very content with one another and do not let any other new bunnies in their space! Salty is the friendliest of the bunch and will come running for a snack and an occasional head rub.

It is very special that Salty found his best friends. We just hope that the three of them will find a home that will allow them to stick together and to have a good, happy, relaxed little life 🐰

Adopt a trio!

Salt, Molly and Joy are the BEST of buddies! They are very independent bunnies who prefer to be without humans (but won't complain if you bring them snackies) 🤗

Salty has been with us for ages and is a gentle, sweet boy. Molly has been at the Haven for over a year and is very shy but is learning to trust. Joy was rescued last year from Durbanville graveyard and is now a healthy beautiful girl.

These bunnies unfortunately are not the most human oriented, friendly bunnies, meaning that their chances of getting adopted are next to nothing 💔

These 3 would love a courtyard or bunny garden area where they can be their best bunny selves and be loved from afar from their humans. I believe that with time, they will learn to trust their humans more and become tamer 🤍

Their ages range from 3-4ish years old and they have all been spayed & neutered already. We are also prepared to offer a reduced adoption fee for these 3 if they find the right home as they really do deserve it 🐰🩷🌼

We are completely in love with one of our new rescues, Peter 🤍

He's been living his best life in his foster home and has been spoiled rotten but now he is ready to find a forever home and family 🐰

A bit about Peter from his foster mom:

"Lil Peter pan 🐰

We love this bun sooo sooo much, but unfortunately, we can't keep him due to having too many buns of our own.

Peter is our perfect well-behaved office assistant.
He absolutely LOVES humans and attention, but he also enjoys his quiet, dramatic nap time.

He is curious and full of energy. He follows us around while handing out 1000's of bunny kisses every step of the way.
He is such a snuggler and doesn't mind being held and snuggled with. He also snuggles and loves his blanky. Bonus points, he takes very good care of it and doesn't mess or eat it.

Peter's favorite part of the day is to zoomie and binky as fast as he can to the fresh hay we give him each morning.

Poppy 🌷

Sweet little Poppy was rescued from a busy road in Stellenbosch where she was most likely either dumped or born on the streets.

She's a tiny little petite girl with a big heart and a massive appetite. She has fit right in with the assortment of foster babies I currently have and loves to snuggle with the boys!

Poppy is a zesty little lady who has found her confidence since being rescued. She loves people, bunnies and other animals and would make a great companion to a single bunny looking for a friend!

Hello! My name is Milo and I'm new here at Hop Haven 👋🏼

Some kind bunny lover saw me being sold on Facebook marketplace with my hutch and knew that I would end up in the wrong hands. She pleaded with my owners to let her have me and ta-da - here i am - safe and sound!

My foster parents were awesome and they gave me loads of love and snuggles while I got ready for my neuter appointment and they helped me heal nice and quickly afterwards 🩷

Now I am at Hop Haven and making some bunny friends (I've never had one before!!) I am loving the space to run and play but I would really really love a family of my own soon!

I would prefer an indoor home as i really love being around my humans as much as possible, and I would need a bunny friend as I am just loving all the bunny snuggles at the sanctuary 💜
