What a satisfying way to end the endurance year at Elim ride on the 30 November

After pregnancy and a very long break, Sanniesguns Portia made her way back into Endurance this year. When the year started Portia showed a very uncomfortable and stiff way of natural carriage, with and without a rider. Together with the correct training from her owner, Anel vd Merwe and magical hands of Mia, Portia's body and soundness only showed an improvement, especially in her core strength and gait action. The pair completed all their rides successfully this year without any restrictions. Pleased to say they ended the year on a high with an 80km, 3rd place standard weight and Portia only getting stronger and more supple through the ride.

Blok Grace is another special mare to mention who started her novice endurance with us in October. Being young, out of work for some time and have an old injury, she has a lot of building and developing to do, but all the potential is there. The last 2 months have showed a transformation of, once again, gait improvement and suppling under the work of Mia, combined with home conditioning gathered from the feed back Mia and Grace gave us. She completed her first 80km Novice ride at Elim, looking and feeling better after the ride than before she started. Owners, Michelle and Amy are super proud! Eager to see the further improvements next year will show.

Mia is an integral part of our endurance team and leisure horses at the yard due to her eagle sharp analytical eyes, professionalism, dedication and adaptability to each individual horse, backed with the vast, knowledgeable skill set of physiotherapy treatments she can provide. Thank you very much for the year Mia!

Topsi perhaps landed with her bum in the butter(ed hay)?

Noticed Topsi and Portia haven't been lying down so often as they used to. I Asked the grooms to add on and fluff up the old hay bed a bit and vola! Nothing like a morning nap. Been keeping the paddocks clean of old hay to avoid muckiness in the night camps. Clearly the girls were missing it.

Name: Majuba

Age: 11. Turning 12 on 10 November 2024.
Height: 15hh.
Breed: Boerperd.
Gender: Gelding.
Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape.
Reason for selling: Not the right rider-horse fit as rider wants to ride competitively.

Very special Boerperd gelding looking for his new home. It is a very sad sale and due to no fault of his own. Majuba was backed late at age 7. He was originally bought as a happy hack/ trail/ kommando horse but the rider decided to pursue competitive riding which he is not cut out for, hence the reason for the sale.

Majuba is best suitable for an experienced rider as he can get difficult sometimes. In general he is an easy ride once settled. He can ride in front, middle or back and doesn't kick or bite. He is comfortable being ridden alone or in a group. He is not malicious. He is quite bom-proof but will shy for the occasional tractor/ train etc. He jumps well. Recent training with a SANESA trainer and judge involved getting him to canter comfortably on both legs, which he is progressing in very well.

He has very strong hooves and good conformation and is currently unshod. Vacs/ dentist up to date. Lives out. Has passport.

Majuba will definitely suit as happy hack/ trail or kommando horse ridden, preferably by a female. He is extremely affectionate.

He is highly strung and has been treated for ulcers once before but did not get it again as rider managed it. However, with the right rider/ food/ environment ulcers will not be an issue. He is also a slow eater. He boxes with difficulty.

Two weeks ago the two mares Milé Khalida (owner Jeanne-Marie Marais) and Avatar (owner Botha) competed at the annual Fauriesmith Endurance ride. The ride is a 200km event, covered over 3 days in the Free State.
It was:
✅️both horses first Fauries
✅️both horses represented the Western Cape Endurance Ride Association teams
✅️ both horses completed in spectacular form and well placed in their respective categories.
The Easthill groom team was on their toes, but what a pleasure to be part of and support these two combos at the ride.

To their riders/owners - well prepared, well ridden and EXTREMELY well done to your horses

Sannie and Akim traded the endurance scene for "release the hounds" vibe at the Easthill Hunt this past weekend.
The horses, owners and spectators had a great time!

The old hands, Wakita and Laheeb, providing moral support to to the young Parfait on her first outride. They really did not have to do much as Parfait took everything in her stride, while the humans were chitchatting, giggling away and enjoying the beautiful winter's day.

Two weeks ago four of our endurance horses participated in the Al Wefa Oudtshoorn endurance ride.
Perdeberg Mulberry and Laheeb completed their 2nd FEI 1*.
Sanniesguns Portia and Jannat Rembrandt completed their 80km. Both of them haven't done a 80km since 2018. They outshined themselves.

The young and the old...
Wakita, our old girl have spent the last 2 months welcoming and looking after the new, very spirited 5 year old, Parfait, to the yard. Between Mia Steyn and her Equine-librium Therapy Clinic - Cape Town team they got a well deserved laser and beamer party today 🥳 🎉
