About Our Mixes ❤️
Whether you feed fresh, a dry mix, pellets or a combination of any of the above, it’s important that your rats receive the correct nutrition.
When creating a mix, we based our ratios off of what rats need in their diet
*Approximate values for the last 4 ratios as carbs and seeds are the "most important".
🐭75 - 80% Carbohydrates (5% allowance for the carbs in fruit and veg)
-50% Whole grains (whole oats, barley, wheat, basmati rice, buckwheat, sorghum, babala, corn)
-20% Processed grains (pasta, egg noodles, cereals.)
-5% Legumes
🐭10% Seeds
🐭*2 - 3% Fruit & Veg (More veg than fruit due to the sugar content)
🐭*1 - 2% Added proteins (Carbs contain a high amount of protein and this is why less added proteins are necessary)
🐭*1 - 2% Herbs (Fenugreek seed, Garlic, Deep Sea Kelp, Rosehip, Nettle, etc)
🐭*2 - 3% Pellets (For added minerals)
Our Basic Mix contains only Carbs, seeds, herbs and pellets. This means that for the full dietary needs of your rats to be met, you will need to provide fresh veggies and proteins regularly
Our Owners Mix contains the full spectrum of dietary needs for rats, and thus additional meals are not required for your rats needs to be met.
★ Rats are omnivore granivores. This means that they get most of their nutrition from grains and seeds. Your pet rat will eat up to 10% of their body weight OR 5g/100g body weight each day. Younger rats will eat more as they need the energy to grow.
★ Always make sure that your rat has access to clean, fresh water. Your rat will drink approx. 10ml/100g body weight per day
