As an equestrian community we are all reeling. Hopefully we are asking ourselves questions about how we can do better. I’d start with normalising relationship based training. But guess what? Building a bond strong enough that your horse wants to spend time with you takes time, and time is money right? Literally, they never stop eating !So in a way we are all guilty of pushing pushing pushing for instant gratification, quicker results, not just in the horse world, but the way we have set up our socities. Can we teach kids to read stress and calming signals in horses before we let them ride? Can we get them to lead the horse with energy rather than a leadrope? Can we share space with horses with zero expectations? I hope this us the change that’s coming, and I fully intend on being a part of that change! And for the non-horsey peeps out there: it is absolutely possible that our horses choose to be with us. We don’t all beat them to control them. But lets come to the conversation with non-judgement and compassion. When we know better we so better. Lots of much needed love to all of the horsey world ❤️🩹
Hunting season’s coming up and we need to get fit! ( Horses & riders 😁😁) it’s tough, but we can do hard things!

Connection workshop
I’m really really loving these ’Connection Workshops’
Here is Finlay with a teen that’s never had any horsey exposure. To start with her mind was going at 100km/h & she was distracted every few seconds. But she was able to quieten her mind & here they are totally insinc and almost dancing together.
We can only connect to others to the degree that we can connect to ourselves & in this era of instant gratification & constant distractions, getting connected to ourselves is a lost art & I’m sure its contributing to us being more anxious, more depressed, less connected & more medicated.
I’ve added one last workshop date. Friday 15th will be the last workshop for the holidays. Only 4 slots available. Please whatsapp me to book your slot. Only R500 for the day.
More info in comment section.

What is drag hunting?
Here’s a little snippet of our opening hunt yesterday. A ‘drag’ goes ahead and lays a scent for the hounds to pick up. Listen to them ‘sing’ as they hunt down the scent:)
You may be surprised to see how relatively calm our hunts are compared to Ireland & UK!
Anyone interested in joining a hunt is welcome to contact me for hirelings.
