As an equestrian community we are all reeling. Hopefully we are asking ourselves questions about how we can do better. I’d start with normalising relationship based training. But guess what? Building a bond strong enough that your horse wants to spend time with you takes time, and time is money right? Literally, they never stop eating !So in a way we are all guilty of pushing pushing pushing for instant gratification, quicker results, not just in the horse world, but the way we have set up our socities. Can we teach kids to read stress and calming signals in horses before we let them ride? Can we get them to lead the horse with energy rather than a leadrope? Can we share space with horses with zero expectations? I hope this us the change that’s coming, and I fully intend on being a part of that change! And for the non-horsey peeps out there: it is absolutely possible that our horses choose to be with us. We don’t all beat them to control them. But lets come to the conversation with non-judgement and compassion. When we know better we so better. Lots of much needed love to all of the horsey world ❤️🩹
Hunting season’s coming up and we need to get fit! ( Horses & riders 😁😁) it’s tough, but we can do hard things!
