🌡️!!!WE ARE NOW IN PEAK AFRICAN HORSE SICKNESS SEASON!!!💉

MAKE SURE TO KNOW THE SYMPTOMS AND MONITOR YOUR HOOFED FAMILY MEMBERS CLOSELY🙏🏼.

Management tips:
•Midge (“muggie”) control is the most important.
•Take temperatures at least TWICE daily, anything above 38C indicates suspicion and must be monitored closely to pick up changes or any other symptoms.
•Citronella attracts midges, try to stay away from Flyspray that contains Citronella.
•Keep horses in the stable atleast until 9:00 in the mornings and bring them in earlier in the afternoons, before 16:00.
•Fans are a great idea in/around stables to keep midges away.
•Burning old grass/shavings around the stables not too close to the horses will also be helpful in controlling midges.
•Make sure your horse wears a flymask during the day.
•Spray flyspray or apply fly ointment on your horse 2-3 times a day.
•Sweat attracts midges - we recommend not to work your horse before 09:00 or after 16:00.
•If your horse sweats - hose down and apply fly products.
•Adding safe immune booster supplements to your horse’s diet may also be beneficial.
•Be EXTRA cautious when moving horses to different locations.
•UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES VACCINATE AGAINST AHS DURING THIS TIME!!!
