As many of you will know, each year we collect money for the two animal charities we support.
This year we have raised a fantastic £23,000 - and it’s all down to your continued support, we can’t thank you enough, particularly the last two years which have been difficult to say the least.
Our two charities are Ape Action Africa and ORANGUTAN APPEAL UK and this year we have also been able to donate to Rare & Endangered Species Trust and Sangha Pangolin Project through sales of the pangolin Pilsner and Umsizi Umkomaas Vervet Rescue Centre from a painting sale.

Rescued this sweet boy who was found laying in someone's garden. He has bad bites on his back that caused slight paralysis in his back legs. All stitched up now he needs time to recover.

Babies are full of energy in the early mornings. Definitely no such thing as sleeping in for our surrogate mothers 🙈
Imagine our surprise when Mika's mother showed up the next day. The caller luckily trapped her and we collected her today and brought her back. It looks like she was shot. We have been trying to reunite them but mommy is quite stressed and not very interested. We will try again tomorrow when she is hopefully not so stressed. At the moment interest from both sides is not very strong so it doesn't look good but no matter the outcome at least both are alive and healthy.
Meet Mika - He is our latest arrival. Someone who looked after the troop luckily heard him crying in the bush at night and found him on his own. The lady knew his mommy and waited for her to arrive but she never did. We aren't sure what happened to his mommy, but it couldn't have been good for him to end up all alone. He is just over a week old and although he cries for his mommy he already shows signs of settling in, so it won't be much longer until he is happy again.

Thanks to Marcel for rescuing and driving down this two year old girl from Shelley Beach. She is in a very bad state. Found just laying in the graveyard soaking wet from the rain. Very dehydrated and having seizures. She is being treated and hopefully makes it through the night although it doesn't look very good.
Just rescued this adult male who was bitten by dogs. Both him and the dogs were covered in blood. He will be getting vet care and hopefully he makes it through the night.
We released Almond today. Almond came in with a very peculiar injury that led to f***s leaking out of an old bite wound on her back. The wound was very difficult to close up but finally it has closed up and healed well enough for her to go home. The lady who called will be keeping an eye on her and update her on her progress.

Had a bad day the other day, Rescued this juvenile girl who sadly had to be put to sleep as she had a badly broken/ infected jaw and pallet that couldn't be fixed. Probably hit by a car. We also rescued an old girl who had lost all her teeth and was extremely emaciated and on her last legs. Both had to be put to sleep. Sorry girls 😞

Eddie our first orphaned baby of the season doing so well, he's teething at the moment so constantly chewing his fingers.
Eddie all tuckered out after a busy day of rescues and releases.
Fluffy was picked after being knocked on the road. She was slightly dazed but made a quick recovery and we released her after a few days. We luckily managed to find her troop and were very confused at their reaction as they were very relaxed. A bit worried in the beginning but after a while her mommy came after we got into the car and gave her a big hug with her newest born in the middle.
Patsy who had a very bad shoulder wound and has been with us quite a while was finally ready to go home. She slotted back into the troop like nothing happened.

Meet Kellerman, Our first baby this season. Twins were found on the ground, one dead and the smaller one alive, but in very bad shape. He is very tiny but so far he looks much better than this morning. We will keep you updated. He is a reminder we desperately need donations of Lactogen 1, soft blankets, and more Royal Canin teats.
Whoops sorry for the lack of content lately, we've been having some technical difficulties.
Update: Thor has made great progress after coming in with a head injury, and a broken leg.
She was found crawling on the side of the road after being hit by a car. Amanda picked her up and met us half way. On the first day she couldn't eat or stand, but by the next day she was doing better and continued to make progress until she was moved in with other monkeys her age. Now she is quite an independent little miss.

Whoops sorry for the lack of content lately, we've been having some technical difficulties.
Orion was released this week. He arrived after we got a call from Shaun Callaghan about a male monkey who was weak. We went to go collect him. After an x-ray, it revealed he had been shot in the face, but no serious damage. Just a slight concussion and was covered in dirt as he was from the prospection factory area. We decided to release him in a better spot. We hope he makes the best of his second chance as he is a very gentle male.
Update on the monkey with 20 pellets. Jack had the most pellets we have ever seen in one monkey. His broken arm has healed although it will probably stay crippled, as he had an old break in his wrist as well. He has moved in with the babies and has settled in well. Here he is being groomed by Fran his favourite girl who is also a sanctuary monkey after being shot in the spine. Fran also made a miraculous recovery and has settled in very well with the babies her baby is also with her and will be housed with her until he is old enough to be released. She loves her food and stuffs her face every meal and the babies just adore her. All the males have been snipped to prevent breeding in this enclosure.
