I'm working on teaching Indy colour differentiation. It's not an easy trick. Will take a while. But I know he can do it!
At the end of the session, I mixed it up a bit for Indy. I took away the object and asked him to touch my hand. I made the last one difficult by putting my hand to the side, so he could not reach it from where he was sitting. And lo and behold - he moved himself in order to be able to do it. I did not help him as I have done before by going back to having the object in my hand and then moving it. And that's cool, because now he is starting to understand the concept.
Indy starts to learn touch against a wall. More chronicles of Indy! In this session he had to figure out to touch the object in different places, not just in my hand
Indy's second go at leg weaves
Indy's second go at leg weaves. We had to work indoors in this session because Indy does not care for wet grass. This is his next try from one leg only. He did pretty well for his first time trying more than one.
This is Indy's first step in learning leg weaves
Indy starts to learn how to park
Indy is a pitbull who gets very bored during the day. So he is having some home visits to teach him some tricks and keep his mind active and stimulated. This is his first session, and he is learning a trick I like to call "park"
Dive and swim
One of my more interesting dog training endeavors - training dogs to swim in a gala. So we have to get them to dive on whistle blow, not before and obviously swim to the other end. And to do it with swimmers diving in next to them. Going well so far. A way to go still but it’s pretty cool to work with dogs in this way. And the dogs are doing really well at this point
