Today we said goodbye to our beloved Rhys Candida my beautiful CandyCane. My very first pony who made me fall in love with horses. I was 6 and she was 3 and boy did she have a lot to teach me. We learnt together, we enjoyed our competitive journey even though mostly we were the laughing stock of the show because Candy insisted on stopping at the jumps to eat the bale of teff which was put under the jump for her to have a snack not to jump over. Together Candy and I went on to teach hundred of little children how to ride and love horses and ponies.

Candy is 32 years old this year and this month she showed me that it’s time for her to retire to carrot heaven. I said my goodbyes with Rudi Schostar and Win by my side last week and today Johann Jurie Grobler escorted her to the pearly gates. Thank you to Dee-Anne Muller for spoiling Candy with carrots and giving her lots of love.

Thank you Candy for everything you have given me over the years and for allowing me to be your mommy and love you for such a long time.

Melissa Arkner thank you for giving me this gift. Candy you will be forever in my heart.
