Our Intermediate group's dogs and handlers are learning about non-verbal cues and communication.
Here they had to recall the dog to the front then finish to heel without using their voice.
Little Coco absolutely rocked it!

Today's lesson consolidated all the skills learnt over the 6 week course into a short obstacle course.
The last obstacle was biscuit bobbing, just for fun.
It was interesting to watch Willow carefully shake off the water before she ate her biscuit!

Our pups had some fun today, after all the seriousness of learning.
We held a taste test. Each puppy owner made a puppy-safe doggy dish of their choice. We lined the treats up and each puppy had the opportunity to sniff, choose and eat the treat it deemed most worthy!
Little Ivy here said it was her very favourite lesson!

Puppy school is not just about teaching obedience. It's about learning to understand how your dog thinks and how it feels.

Take your dog for a swim to cool off.
Ensure continuous supervision if your dog hasn't been in a pool before.
Dogs swim instinctively, but they don't know where or how to get out. Make sure your pupper is pool safe!

Freeze a plastic bottle filled with water to place in your dog's water bowl on a hot day. Your pupper will thank you for the lovely chilled water.
(Make sure your dog doesn't chew the bottle though!)

Heatwave hot tip🔥
Get your doggo a cooling mat to help him beat the heat.
This is especially useful for dogs that don't like water, old dogs whose mobility might limit them, young puppies and flat-faced breeds who need extra help.

Beat the heat by providing your dog with a kiddies plastic pool filled with water and placed in a shady spot to give him the chance to cool down outside.
Add some floaty toys for extra fun!

Keep the doggo cool, calm and collected during the heatwave by providing frozen treats.
A Kong filled with tinned food and frozen overnight, or a cup filled with double-diluted stock or broth, frozen and turned out, can be a great way to provide enrichment as well as help to keep your dog cool.
