MICROCHIP PROMOTION
During the months of July & August we will be holding a Microchip Campaign to encourage the microchipping of our community’s pets.
Microchips will be R250 by appointment only.
5 Facts About Microchips
🐾Microchips are tiny, about the size of a large grain of rice. The
microchip will last your pet’s lifetime.
🐾They are passive. This means that they passively store a
unique identification number and do not actively transmit any
information.
🐾Sterile microchips are injected under your pet’s skin. It is fast,
safe, and appears to be relatively pain-free.
🐾Microchipping only works if you register the microchip. You can
do this on the Identipet National Animal Database, the largest
animal database in Africa. https://identipet.com/our-services/app/
🐾The microchip is ‘read’ with a microchip scanner, which
displays the identification number. This number is used to find
the owners contact details. Microchips are not a GPS.

🦷Pet Dental Care🦷
Keeping your dog (and cats!) happy and healthy isn’t just about keeping their coat clean and feeding them the best food. A healthy dog needs a sparkling smile and very often this is the area of care that is most often over looked.
Periodontal disease is the most common disease in all dogs but some breeds are at higher risk, such as your small dog breeds. Overtime plaque and tartar build up on the teeth cause halitosis (bad breath), difficulty chewing and tooth decay which can be prevented or maintained by veterinary dental scaling procedure. In some severe cases, upon removal of excessive plaque buildup, multiple teeth may need to be extracted due to decay. Pet parents should bring their dog to the vet for regular dental checkups and practice at-home oral hygiene by brushing the dog’s teeth with a pet friendly toothpaste, such as Petdent Toothpaste, or adding a dental additive to the water bowl.
The video below shows what a large amount of plaque build looks like on the teeth. The procedure is done under a full anesthetic and dogs often wake up with some relief and start eating well when they go home.
To all our lovely clients...we have 8 of these food buckets left.
