Calming your pet during the Festive season:
The Festive season is a time of joy and celebration, but for our pets-it can be terrifying
Fireworks, Loud music and Partying/Noisy neighbour's, all contribute to our pets Festive Season Fears
Tips to help keep your pets calm:
- Ensure your pet can be identified (should it get lost or confused if it escapes the property due to being scared)
Proper fitting collar and name tag or a Microchip is ideal
- Remain Calm
Your pet feeds off your fears and can pick up when you are anxious
- Excersize your pet late afternoon, or encourage extra playtime with toys
- Create a Safe space for your pet
In the house, closed windows and curtains.
Favourite bed or blanket and a toy or treat to play with
Play calming music/white noise
- Get your pet a Thundershirt or do a Calming wrap with a scarf
- Do not leave your pet alone
Your presence is calming and reassuring
- Talk to your Veterinarian
There are many options to calm your pet
Calmeze tablets or liquid
Herbal calming capsules
Scheduled drugs can be dispensed after consultation with your Veterinarian
It is best to prepare for the Festive season stressors in advance, so you know you are prepared and your pet will be safe and comfortable
