➡️Symptoms are seen 10-14 days after your dog has been bitten by a tick carrying the parasite

Symptoms :
-dark urine
-poor apetite
-fever
-weakness
-depression/low energy levels
-pale gums

If you suspect your pet is ill, contact your Vet ASAP
📍Early treatment saves lives

📍Remember to use tick and flea preventative products to keep your pets free from ticks and fleas
📍We have many options available at the Clinic from spot-on ampules for cats to chewable tablets for dogs

Calming your pet during the Festive season:

The Festive season is a time of joy and celebration, but for our pets-it can be terrifying

Fireworks, Loud music and Partying/Noisy neighbour's, all contribute to our pets Festive Season Fears

Tips to help keep your pets calm:

- Ensure your pet can be identified (should it get lost or confused if it escapes the property due to being scared)
Proper fitting collar and name tag or a Microchip is ideal

- Remain Calm
Your pet feeds off your fears and can pick up when you are anxious

- Excersize your pet late afternoon, or encourage extra playtime with toys

- Create a Safe space for your pet
In the house, closed windows and curtains.
Favourite bed or blanket and a toy or treat to play with
Play calming music/white noise

- Get your pet a Thundershirt or do a Calming wrap with a scarf

- Do not leave your pet alone
Your presence is calming and reassuring

- Talk to your Veterinarian
There are many options to calm your pet
Calmeze tablets or liquid
Herbal calming capsules
Scheduled drugs can be dispensed after consultation with your Veterinarian

It is best to prepare for the Festive season stressors in advance, so you know you are prepared and your pet will be safe and comfortable

With Christmas festivities around the corner🌲

Here are some foods to avoid feeding your pets:
📍Chocolate
📍Bones
Chicken bones can cause constipation and other bones can be chewed off in sharp fragments and pierce through the intestine
📍Mielie cobs
These are a favourite for dogs to chew on but can be swallowed in big chuncks and cause obstruction in your pets intestines, requiring surgery to remove
📍Onions and Garlic
These damage your pets red blood cells
📍Grapes
Can be dangerous to your pets kidneys
📍Fatty meals or table scraps
These can cause inflammation of your pets pancreas and will require hospitatisation with intensive treatment
📍Any food containing artificial sweetner Xylitol
This is very dangerous and can cause death of your pet if ingested, so please read the labels carefully

During the festive season we all have a good time and eat delicious foods😊
Often your pets are close by and its easy to just give them a little tase...but this could have a negative impact on your pet

📌Please ensure your pets have access to clean water all the time
📌Having shelter/shade from the warm sun will also help keep them cool

Breaking boundaries – vaccinated pets save lives♥️

📍📍Did you know that rabies occurs in all South African provinces?

📍Every pet owner must have their dogs and cats vaccinated to protect both humans and animals against rabies
🐶🐱🏥👩🏼‍⚕️

The first rabies vaccine is given at 12 weeks (three months) of age, followed by a booster vaccination between one and 12 months later.

In Zeerus, annual vaccination is strongly advised. As we have Rabies in our area🙏🏻
