Dear Marondillions

As Christmas fast approaches we extend our season’s greetings to you all and take the opportunity to thank the community for supporting ZNSPCA Marondera.
We will be publishing our statistics in 2025 so that all our supporters can get a sense of what we do with all our hard-won funds raised. This having been said, it is this period in the year when our funds are most strangled and in fact our coffers are currently nil/empty.
We depend very heavily on the Mar Bazaar market which has never raised our entire needs but has kept the wheels turning. The Mar Bazaar brings us an average of $1200 per market BUT WE HAVE NO MAR BAZAAR FOR DEC AND JAN which puts us into a sweaty situation. Naturally the medical bills are our highest cost, - approximately $2000 to $2500 per month. If we are called to a case, we invariably pick the animal up and perform vaccinations immediately followed by spay/neuter. Our second highest expense is pound time, - but we do everything in our power to get our pound animals adopted as soon as possible to limit the pound time. If we are forced to euthanize, we are then faced with body disposal costs. All in all, it costs us $3000 per month to do what we do and the statistics are climbing.

We appeal to all our readers to dig deep this Christmas and help us to bat our expenses through this period and going forward. If 100 people committed to $30 per month or 200 people committed to $15 per month…we would be able to breath. No donation is too small, folks. We do what needs to be done and we do it to the best of abilities and with limited resources.

Our final appeal to the general public, - we are in the position we are because people allow their cats and dogs to breed whilst they are unable to even feed them in the first place let alone vaccinate, spay and neuter. If you cannot afford to have animals, then please opt not to. Please do not buy from unregistered breeders (which is 99% of them) as this keeps fueling the crisis we face. Heartfelt gratitude to all those people who have donated and continue to believe in what we do. We cannot thank you enough.

SPAY ❀️ NEUTER 🐾 ADOPT

14/12/2024

So many humans wish/wait for "someone" to do something. They call rescues & beg for help with kittens their cat had because they couldn't for various
(often lame) reasons they could not bother to get spayed. Sh we liters are full. Rescues are overwhelmed. Step up & be the someone to make a difference. (Please know if you're receiving government subsistence, unemployed or over 70 years old, I'll give you a pass & send best wishes for your good health & well being.)😽

The holiday season is a time of joy, celebration, and creating cherished memories with loved ones - including your furry companions. However, the festive period can also present unique challenges and potential pet hazards. Whether you're traveling, hosting gatherings, or enjoying outdoor activities, ensuring your pet’s safety is essential. This time of year may be very stressfull for many animals.

Please remember that this is the worst time of year for any rescue organization. While most people look forward to the fun and festivities, animal rescuers brace themselves for the unfortunate surge of surrendered, lost, and abandoned animals. Be kind to the rescuers and help them in any way you can.

If you find any animals lost, in distress, injured, or abandoned, please contact your nearest SPCA or rescue organization. Please report any cruelty to animals to the SPCA.
