Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - Mutare Branch SPCA MUTARE BRANCH
We are calling on all our Mutarians that
have ventured out in the world.
(1)
As you all know we have an SPCA in Mutare and of late have been struggling terribly with funds to support all of the animals they have under their care. It does not have to be much. The World Remit forum is convenient in Mutare, and hopefully it would be for you too. Jill.Rickard is our accountant and she would confirm receipt. Email committee member [email protected] for more details. The SP
CA have helped us all in some way and now we need to help them get back on their feet, with your support. I
Patrick Swayze once remarked, "Someone told me my house smelled like dogs, so I asked them, 'Do you even know what a dog smells like?' It smells of gratitude, loyalty, nobility, affection, and pure, unconditional love. Despite everything they’ve been through, they don’t carry the scent of resentment. I feel truly blessed that my home smells like dogs." 💕🐾✨

Wall.......gone. I hope tomorrow is better

A tough week...some feedback.
What a hectic week. I don't envy ANYONE who tries to run an animal welfare in Zimbabwe. Worse than anything else is the number of "surrendered" beautiful dogs and cats.
NEWS FLASH: FOLKS....WHEN YOU CHOOSE AN ANIMAL, ITS A LIFETIME COMMITMENT. FOREVER. NOT TILL YOU SEE ANOTHER DOG SO LETS DITCH THE OLD ONE.
THEN.... our office roof caved in after the heavy rain. $$$
THEN....our durawall around the field fell down like dominoes.$$$
THEN a puppy got parvo. There's nothing worse.
THEN a friends dog went missing. A team of 4 of us went out to the rural areas to search for hours, no luck... there's the offer of a respectable reward...no news yet. Come home Daiz.
Make my day.
We need a break!!!!!
Just getting ONE home would be encouraging.

You too could be made this happy.
Don't bother to apply if you think a dog can stay all day in a cage, and come out at night.
If your dog will not part of your family, don't come!!

We need this law in Zim
TAIL DOCKING AND EAR CROPPING 🚫
Tail docking is harmful for several reasons and has officially been made ILLEGAL!
It involves cutting through skin, muscles, nerves and bones causing significant pain. In some cases, tail docking can lead to long-term nerve damage, causing chronic pain or sensitivity.
Dogs use their tails to communicate with humans and other animals. Tail movement signals emotions such as happiness, fear or aggression. Docking limits this ability, potentially causing misunderstandings or conflicts. Tails also help with balance during movement, particularly in activities like running, jumping or even swimming.
Ear cropping is a purely aesthetic procedure and there is absolutely no medical benefit to cropping the ears of a dog. Historically, many guard dogs’ ears have been cropped to increase the intimidation of their appearance, making them more reminiscent of wolves. By cropping a dog’s ears, you remove part or all of the external flaps of an animal’s ear. The procedure sometimes involves bracing and taping the remainder of the ears to train them to point upright.
Performing a painful and unnecessary procedure purely for aesthetic or traditional purposes raises ethical questions about the treatment of animals. If you know of anyone still performing tale docking or ear cropping, please contact your nearest SPCA and report this cruelty and save a life! 🐾
DONT BE CAUGHT USING FIREWORKS!
IF YOU HEAR THEM.....REPORT TO THE POLICE!
FIREWORKS ARE NOT FOR ZIMBABWEANS!
29/12/2024
Imagine the terror a sudden explosion would cause if you were small and vulnerable. That's what fireworks are like for birds. Let's give them the peace they deserve.

A second try for this special dog. Staffie Cross, stocky, strong, playfull, keen to learn. We so hope he is given a try soon. Kennels don't suit him..... and I can see he's not as wriggly cuddly as before.
He needs a home.
Not available for people looking for a guard dog. He has to be with a family.
People are his thing...
A huge character, this little chap. His mum was used innumerable times to bear litters.
This might be the longest she has spent with a pup, to play in the sunshine, to have regular food and attention.
It would be a dream come true if they both got homes.
If these are Inspector William's boots, and this is a ginger kitten, does this make A Puss In Boots?
It's heartbreaking for us when a dog gets abandoned, and because it's difficult to find homes...its becoming just as heartbreaking when they are surrendered.
This week a brickhouse of a pit bull has been given over.
He's the funiest chap, full of the most hilarius grins.
He will not be re homed with other dogs as he has been through the mill, and he is such a tank he is too strong in an argument.
He needs a loyal home, to himself.
Check out the smile......at the end.
Were you originally from Mutare? Do you remember amazing characters like Jill Wylie who wrote those equally amazing books “Call Of The Marsh,” Or “Search, Dogs to the rescue”? Or our loved and respected founder member Mr Beau Howell? Or dear Audrey Hagan, as she drove to the city centre every morning to feed the strays who depended on her?
As you all know we still have an SPCA in Mutare and of late have been struggling terribly with funds to support all the animals in our care. While we do everything we can to keep going, we have a monthly stress to work out how to pay the salaries for the 4 amazing men who keep the day to day logistics in hand. We have wonderful dogs and cats to find homes for, and we are doing what we can for the community to be a caring service to their pets. We dip dogs, we visit schools, we have vaccination and animal health programmes to rural areas, we uplift any animals that are maltreated, abandoned or injured, we fundraise, and we move heaven and Earth to re-home. If you are in any way able to give us a helping hand, however small, you would be the one helping us to survive.
The SPCA have helped us all in some way and now we need help to survive and continue providing a caring option!
If you could spare us a thought, please can you let us know and we can arrange to have bank details sent to you.
We also can receive through WorldRemit, Ecocash or through our Global Giving Forum. If you choose WorldRemit, please tick CASH PICK UP, so we can access Cash not Bond notes.
If you would like to remember your old hometown, you could adopt a kennel in your family or business name, and we will acknowledge it with a sign. ($95.00) It gives us a huge amount of pleasure when visitors walk around and delight at seeing the old Mutare favourites like McKenzie Family for their parents famous Mitchells Bakery, Manica Fresh Produce, Baxters, or Meikles.
