โWeโre making bread, weโre making biccies and now.. we bakeโ Dr Annabelle and Nurse Jayd were absolutely obsessed with little Billie the Burmese kitty. Billie visited the clinic for a dental procedure, however, I think most of her time was spent cuddling our staff and working in her personal bakery๐ฅฐ๐
If you have ever been unsure if your pet is loved and cared by our team when they come to Tasmanian Veterinary hospitals, witness this sweet moment between Dr Annabelle and 10 month old chocolate Labrador Chanel, who came to us for a CT scan. ๐
"They say the best veterinarians have a true passion for animals and their well-being. When your pet is sick, a veterinarian is the guardian angel you need." ๐๐

Did you hear that an Australian Shepherd was crowned Best in Show at the 2024 Crufts dog competition in Birmingham, England?
Gerry is also a 3 year old Australian Shepherd and he is so very talented!! We are pretty sure if he was in the show he would win with flying colours, we mean look at these skills!
Every time he comes to our hospital he never wants to leave and we don't want him to either... he always makes sure he gets one more treat before he leaves. ๐

๐ฉ๐ฆฎ This Saturday is international dogsโ day. ๐ถ๐โ๐ฆบ๐๐ฉ๐ฆฎ
National Dog Day was established in 2004 by animal advocate & pet and family lifestyle expert Coleen Paige. The aim of the awareness day is to raise awareness about the number of dogs that are currently in rescue centres and encourage the adoption of these animals.
Sadly, each year, millions of dogs become homeless because they are unwanted or their owners are unable to care for them. National Dog Day aims to encourage people to adopt dogs from shelters and rescue organisations.
In honour of our best friends, we will be hosting a stall at Glebe Hill Shopping centre, this Saturday 26th August from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Come along for free pet advice and explore activities for the family.
For more information follow the link below, if not come and see our Tasmanian Veterinary Hospital team. โบ๏ธ๐
Make sure tomorrow you give your dogs lots of cuddles, they deserve it. ๐ถ๐ฅฐ

Does your pet love belly rubs as much as Nia here? ๐
She loved it when Dr Hannah scratched her belly in consult last week. Look at her smile. ๐ฅฐ
Nia is a beautiful 9 month old Rottweiler, who came to visit us for a ear check up. ๐

Have you noticed some construction at our Bellerive Hospital lately?
Incase you have missed it, here is a little clip of what has happened so far! ๐จ
We can't wait to see how everything progresses. ๐
Little puppy Labradors ๐
Meet Paddy and Molly, who are 6 months old and loves treats! They are being very obedient for their owners and looking so cute at the same time ๐
A reminder we are closed today for the public holiday. If you require any urgent care, please call AES (AHVEC) 1300 302 912.
See you all next week! Have a lovely Easter break ๐ฐ
Last week we had beautiful 4-month-old Dachshund pup, Klaus visit for base narrow canine removal. Klaus was more than happy to cuddle up to Nurse Hannah and out the back before heading into his surgery. ๐พ
Base narrow canine teeth is a condition that can affect young puppies when their baby teeth erupt โtoo narrowโ and make contact with the palate. ๐ฆท
More commonly this condition affects puppies at 6 months of age, when the lower permanent canine teeth erupt in an upright orientation. The adult canine teeth will eventually strike the palate causing pain.
Dogs are not good at telling us when they have a sore mouth, although each time your puppy comes to visit, our vets will check that their teeth are coming through normally. If our vet has any concerns, they will discuss with you and together you can make a treatment plan to ensure your puppy has a functional and pain-free mouth.
The best thing to note is, base narrow canines are treatable, especially if we act early.
If you are ever unsure and would like your puppy to have a full examination by our vet, please do not hesitate to call our veterinary hospitals to book an appointment with our friendly team. Our aim is to ensure your puppy has a comfortable, healthy mouth for life. ๐
As you can see for Klaus, he had a pretty happy ending eating all his chicken after he had woken from his surgery. ๐ฅฐ
๐ A round of applause for Miss Polly! ๐
Meet Polly, she is a 6-year-old Dachshund who recently came to our Bellerive Hospital for spinal surgery.
Polly presented with paralysis in her hind legs and was diagnosed with a compression in her spinal column.
Dr Gareth and their team operated on Polly last week to relieve the compression.
Polly is shown here with Nurse Millie, combining her post operative rehabilitation with her rounds of the clinic. Polly is improving well and is getting stronger every day. ๐๐

Some Lop Eared Mini bunny love to take us into the weekend.
Cuddles and Milky came in for a procedure this week
and we can now welcome them into the seedless grapes club!
Watermelon anyone?
Meet Max the watermelon loving Dachshund. Max came into the clinic to have his nails clipped on Tuesday and his mum was telling nurse Ashley how much he loves this watery treat.
Here are a short list of other summertime treats you can feed your puppy when the weather warms up.
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Bananas
- Mangos
- Apples (not the core)
- Carrots
Please give only as treats and in moderation.
๐Look at this fun play ball pit for Finn! ๐
Our very creative nurse Ash created this for her dog Finn who can't get enough of all the balls and TREATS!! ๐ช
The aim of this ball pit is to throw multiple snacks, kibble or any treat your dog loves, and for your pet to source them out with their ultra sense of smell. ๐
Did you know dogs possess up to 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses, compared to about six million in us. And the part of a dog's brain that is devoted to analyzing smells is about 40 times greater than ours! ๐คฉ
These type of sensory games are fantastic for growth and skills. We have plenty of other products in our clinic that can help your dog be entertained. ๐ถ๐
We love happy Fridays!! ๐
Meet 5 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Duke... he was with us for the day and truly we didn't want to let him go... he was just so good and cuddles and kisses. ๐
It is very important to us to have puppies feel comfortable and safe whilst with us at our clinic... Duke looks pretty comfortable don't you think ๐
#feelthelove #TVH #puppylove
Happy Friday everyone! What a week it has been... 26 degrees, rain wind and lots of animal visits! ๐ฅณ
We had our Tasmanian Veterinary Hospitals staff photo with everyone attending from our Belleirve, Kingston and Sorell clinic, so keep an eye out for that wonderful photo! ๐
To end the week with a laugh, look at this funny video from our Sorell clinic's nurse, Claire, who lost her dog Albert in a sea of teddies! HOW CUTE ๐ป
Want to see inside our Dog ward?๐ถ We thought it would be cool to show you part of how we help to keep our patients calm at our Bellerive hospital. ๐โโ๏ธ๐ง
We want all animals to feel comfortable in our clinic and we want our owners to know we do everything we can to make their fur babies feel safe . ๐ Here are some of the ways we do this;
- Adaptil and Feliway throughout the hospital (calming pheromone).
- Calming music (species specific).
- Enrichment such as kongs, puzzles and snuffle mats for mental stimulation.
- Separate dog and cat wards.
- Hiding places for felines.
- Low stress handling techniques.
- 2 hourly outside walks for dogs.
- For some patients, anti-anxiety medication before their visit and/or hospitalisation.
- Extra support bedding for senior and arthritic patients.
We are an open Veterinary Clinic so if you ever want to come in and see our clinic, you are always welcome. We pride ourselves in the work we do. ๐
