BREAKING: These pronged dog collars will be banned.

We’re passing legislation to crack down on the inhumane treatment of animals in Queensland.

That includes banning the use and possession of pronged dog collars like this one.

We know the majority of Queenslanders support tougher penalties and regulations against cruelty to animals.

That’s why this week we’ll be debating animal welfare laws in the Queensland Parliament – an issue close to the hearts of so many Queenslanders.

Did you know that the state government is giving the greyhound racing industry $40 Million to build a new racing track at Ipswich?

Buddy is heckin' worried - and I'm guessing alot of you might be too.

Greyhound racing is cruel, fuels problem gambling, and this new track will impact core habitat for threatened species. Racing Queensland are also using a 'Ministerial Infrastructure Designation' to sidestep usual planning processes.

There are much better industries we could be investing $40 Million in, which would create good, secure sustainable jobs - we could start with healthcare, schools, childcare or public transport.

With Christmas at the corner, these kind of ads are unfortunately flourishing on well known platforms. Please don't fall for them.
While rats can make great pets for kids, they require a big commitment from the parents themselves, as kids get usually quickly bored of taking care for them. Half of our rescues, over the past year, were coming from "my daughter/son lost interest" situation.
So please, if you are not the person who will care for them daily for rest of their life DO NOT OFFER RATS TO KIDS.
🐭 Rats need at least 1 companion to thrive and be happy. And this, no matter how much time you spend with a solo rat. They need social interaction with their own kind.
🐭 Rats are nocturnal animals, so keeping them in kids bedroom is probably not the best as they can be very noisy.
🐭 Rats NEED to have time out of their cage every day (1+ hour). They are extremely intelligent creatures who need enrichment. Their cage shouldn't become their jail.
🐭 Rats need specific high quality rat food. The random seed mix for other rodents or birds isn't suitable.
🐭 Rats get sick regularly and vet bills can become a major expense. Keeping their cage clean to avoid amonia build up is an important task that can't be disregarded.
🐭 Rats are wonderful, and deserve much better than being offered in a rush to a kid for christmas or birthday because it just sounds like a "great easy fun gift for kids". Please do some researches, some maths as well, to make sure you can afford having them.
🐭 Keep in mind that you will more likely end up doing ALL the cleaning, feeding, freeroaming yourself!

GUINEA PIG FOSTER CARERS NEEDED!

Afternoon everyone! We’re needing foster carers!

We need some piggy loving people with space in their hearts to foster a piggy or two until they are adopted.

At the moment we are mostly needing people just willing to bridge the gap till adoption, and some that are comfy administering meds and other care needed. Either or we would be incredibly thankful for.

Please be open to having a chat about your piggy experience (experience isn’t necessary, but we just need to know where you’re at to pair you best with a foster pig) and filling out a foster application form.
