This lovely girl came to us after a run in with a prickle bush! More then 10 nasty prickles were removed from her paws. Now she is back on her feet and ready to continue her holiday in Broome 💕🐾

❗️❗️❗️Parvovirus Outbreak ❗️❗️❗️
Unfortunately over the last couple of weeks we have been seeing a large number of Parvo cases presenting to our Broome clinic. Parvo virus is a highly fatal but easily preventable disease. Any unvaccinated dog is at risk of contracting the virus. If you have a new puppy it's important to be aware of the risks associated with Parvo and the appropriate isolation. If you have an older dog and have lost track of your vaccinations please don't hesitate to call and check your fury friend isn't overdue.

Meet Buzz!

The lovely Buzz has had a big few weeks. Buzz was surrendered to RSPCA last month after being hit by a car. He came into the vets with a fractured femur. The excellent Dr Scott used a combination of metal plating and screws to stabilize this fracture. Buzz spent the next couple of weeks recovering in foster care here in Broome.

Buzz has since flown to Perth RSPCA where he is recovering in excellent spirits from his surgery. Buzz is expected to have a full recovery and regain normal function of his broken limb.

Once Buzz has healed he will be ready for his new forever home. This sweet little gentleman is very deserving of his second chance and we wish him all the best in Perth.

****HEAT STROKE WARNING****
Hi all, we have had an unusual number of dogs presenting to the clinic with heat stroke in the past week. Even a short walk on the beach or throwing the ball for 15 minutes in this weather can lead to overheating.

Signs include extremely heavy panting, dark red mucous membranes, wobbling/ataxia, collapse, diarrhoea and vomiting. If you suspect your pet has gotten over-heated, instigate active cooling measures immediately - drench the dog with water and get into the air conditioning under a fan on high. Avoid ice or freezing cold water. Some pets require IV fluids and intensive care.

We are on call 24/7 should you require assistance in the event of an veterinary emergency.
