Did you know that horses are seasonal breeders? With increasing daylight and good nutrition during Spring, your mare will begin to show signs of estrus and eventually ovulate her first follicle of the year. Most mares only cycle for a few months, giving us a short time-frame to get them in foal.
Talk to one of our reproduction veterinarians at CEC to get your mare bred this season! Call our clinic on (02) 4655 0777.
Finding the right support for equine reproduction can be challenging. How can you access specialised assistance for breeding and genetics preservation?
Our equine reproduction service at CEC offers a full range of breeding services to achieve the best results for our clients - ultrasound scans, breeding soundness evaluation, breeding management (fresh, cooled and frozen semen artificial insemination), embryo transfer (on request), and semen freezing.
Call our clinic on (02) 4655 0777 to discuss your horse's breeding requirements and schedule your appointment with the reproduction team!

🐴How is Camden Equine Centre part of The University of Sydney👩🎓❓
CEC is the teaching hospital for The University of Sydney and provides final-year veterinary students with the opportunity to engage in all facets of being an equine vet. Whether we see you at home or in the hospital, chances are, our eager students will be involved with assisting our vets and nurses. They are gaining essential skills and practical knowledge to allow them to progress to be our future veterinarians. Students are continuously working under the direct supervision of a vet and with your consent, if at any stage you do not wish for student to be involved please let us know.
🐴Why may it take a bit longer⏱❓
During a consult our vets will identify teaching opportunities for our students. This may take a bit longer, but you can be confident that our experienced vets are extremely thorough and use the best practice. Under supervision, students may be allowed to participate in certain procedures performed on the patient under the treating veterinarian's care. Our students' level of involvement depends on the procedure and the animal's temperament. These tasks may include administering medication/treatment, conducting physical examinations of hospital patients, recording the finding on patient charts, and general horse care and handling.
🐴Animal Welfare👩⚕️
CEC will never jeopardise the health and care of any animal for teaching purposes. If a horse needs immediate treatment, is in pain or distress, our experienced veterinarians will prioritise treating the horse with assistance from students only when appropriate and safe.
🐴What's are the benefits❓
Education of future equine veterinarians is critical in maintaining the health of our horses now and into the future, your involvement in our hospital will be essential to produce your next equine veterinarian.
Our dedication to veterinary education, animal science and research benefits the broader equine c
