I think this is a lovely story 🙂 a resident at a local Bupa aged care facility wanted to adopt a rescue dog and the challenge was to find a dog which could be predictably calm when meeting people and not too energetic. Help came in the form of a Rescue Greyhound from the lovely people at Greyhound Adoption Program. Now John and his new best friend can retire together and enjoy the next chapter of their life in luxury and rest.

Labrador Puppies!
We’re now taking expressions of interest in our litter of Black and Yellow Labrador pups.
Both parents are beautiful dogs and perfect examples of the breed, with muscular builds, well-muscled legs, no problems with hips or elbows and they both have happy personalities which the pups are already starting to show. Mum is jet black and Dad is a bright golden yellow.
Pups be available mid-June and will come fully vaccinated and microchipped. We’re Cairns locals and registered as a Family Breeder BIN0014889352001
I’m a Dog Trainer and Canine Behaviourist and all pups will come with a take-home pack which includes a free puppy preparation session with me, Doctor Dog.
We’re not doing this to make money, for us it’s a labour of love, and the pups will ONLY go to very good homes. If you’re interested, please contact me to discuss price, and initial viewings can be arranged from Saturday May 25th.

This gorgeous girl is Bella, and she's half German Shepherd and half Maremma! What a combo, the world's greatest guard dog and the world's greatest livestock guardian dog. Needless to say, Bella is a big, serious girl who needs special treatment and lots of exercise, and it took me quite a while to earn her trust. Now I take her to the beach twice each week and am teaching her long-range recall. She's doing so well, improving in leaps and bounds, and let's be honest, I couldn't wish for a better workplace 😀

Another big, beautiful girl 😍 this is Leila, she's totally adorable and has become the Number One best friend of her new baby sister (who's human 😊) Recently though, she managed to pick up a nasty ear infection which cost her mum Emma quite a bit of money at the vets 😢 In humid weather, dogs which have floppy and/or very hairy ears can easily pick up a bacterial or fungal infection, so a product I support is called Ilium and it's a type of ear drop which kills all sorts of nasties and keeps the dog's ears clean. You can buy it at any pet store and at a cost of about $10, it's well worth using if your dog is prone to ear problems. Of course, if in doubt, see the vet!

Look at this beautiful girl! When I first met Daisy the Rottie she was all confused about life and it was making her grumpy and willful, but after a few training sessions to fine tune her understanding of who was the leader of her 'pack', Daisy settled down really quickly and she's now happy as can be 😊

These two rascals are Axel and Zena the Staffies 😀 They're totally gorgeous dogs but, like all Staffies, they're super strong and pull like trains. But I'm using my Comfort Control leads, which absorb shock and give me grip, so they're easy to manage while I teach them to walk nicely.

Lots of dogs, that are a little anxious, don't like the mobile dog washers because they find the tubs and sprays all a bit too overwhelming, so I offer a hand wash and condition option which is much more soothing. This is Her Ladyship Nuova waiting for her 'soft touch' diamond trimmer pedicure. I think she's fairly relaxed 🥰

Hi Beaches Neighbours! Just a quick reminder that I still have a few vacancies available for pet care over the Christmas holiday period. With prices from just $20 per visit, each visit will include
* Feeding dog/s with food supplied (fresh meat can be kept at my home, in a dedicated pet food fridge freezer, if you don't have outdoor fridges)
* Changing drinking water
* Checking each dog to ensure that they are safe, healthy and well
* Administering any medication correctly
* Yard play or walking
* Daily pooh patrol and disposal
* Yard tidy if there's any damage or excessive mess
* Security check of the property
* Collecting mail
* Watering plants if required
Each day I'll send you text updates and photos so you know your pups are safe and well. In the event of an illness or injury, I'm Australian Red Cross Pet First Aid trained, so can provide immediate attention, but if it's something serious, I'll notify you immediately and can take the dog to the vet of your choice. I have a fully insured, side entry vehicle and provide a registered vet taxi and pet collection service

I need help! Is anyone in Yorkeys K**b keen for small doggy playdates? I've a client in Yorkeys with an adorable miniature Dachshund called Bear and I'm helping his owner, Jason, raise Bear to be his emotional support dog. Jason is ex-Army and only a young bloke, but he's got some serious back injuries which restrict his mobility, plus he suffers from PTSD which can make him a bit withdrawn and shy sometimes. I'd really like to help him and Bear get a bit more social, nothing serious, just the occasional catch-up at a local park now and then so little Bear can have a play with another little dog 🙏

Double Trouble! This huge handsome couple are Khaleesi, the beautiful German Shepherd and Neddy, the not quite beautiful but still handsome Mastiff/American Staffy cross. Their mum needed them walking and, OMG, they pulled like trains! I almost got dragged across the field 🤣 BUT I was using my brand new Doctor Dog Approved big dog shock absorbing leads so everything went well. My new leads only just arrived and I'm very excited! I'll be selling them online soon, but if you're one of my clients, let me know and I'll upgrade you for free :-)

This is an interesting case, and proof that a small amount of observation and dog psychology can go a long way. This little Jack Russell was not happy at all with the idea of going for a walk. He was extremely hyper, attacking his lead and pulling furiously in a very angry fashion. But when I offered him a treat, he stopped to eat it - then immediately went back to attacking the lead. This proved to me that he could control himself if he wanted to but he was fixated on the lead. So I swapped his red lead for one of my own black leads and he calmed down instantly. The little guy had developed a negative conditioned response, so his behaviour changed for the better once I'd identified the issue and removed the trigger.

When I'm not helping people train their dogs, I spend a lot of time taking dogs for walks, especially when owners need a hand because their dogs are a bit on the big side. So on Thursday morning I walked Nuova the huge Cane Corsa Italian Mastiff, Leo the sturdy Ridgeback Staffy cross, Bruno the fridge sized Staffy and..... Scruffy the tiny little muppet who I could carry in one hand! If variety is the spice of life, then I must be living in a vindaloo :-D

During school holidays I noticed a few people offering to look after other people's dogs and it got me thinking, because there's proper looking after and then there's 'yeah, she'll be right' looking after.
Yesterday I went to walk a dog who's owner has used me in the past to walk and feed him. I assumed that he had a friend or neighbour doing the feeding (which is ok) but after the walk, I went to make sure the dog had fresh water. Imagine how I felt when I saw his food bowl had fresh food dumped on top of kibble which was damp, swollen and covered with mould 😡
So I made this list just to make a point.
