Excited about next weekend? We are!
You may have gathered by now that at WAG we are all about modern and safe dog agility. With this in mind, please have a little read of some of the things that will be practised next weekend our trial. ⬇️
Leashes:
Because our venue is unique in its construction, with solid walls for entry and exit, A bucket will be provided for you to place your leash and toy in, on entering, it will be delivered to the exit for you to be able to immediately reward your dog on exiting. If you wish to keep your leash on you, that’s no problem either.
NFC:
We think this is a no brainer! If IN ANY CLASS you want to take a toy in to reward your dog, all the judges would be more than happy to see that! Please make sure when you are doing NFC, that you follow the sequential order of the course. You don’t have to start at #1 but you DO have to follow the numerical order, this is for safety, so that approaches to potentially dangerous obstacles can be managed as a straight approach. You will have the set course time to have fun with your dog in the ring. Please show your toy to the judge or give the timeout signal with your hands on entering the ring to signal NFC.
Fallen bars:
You may have noticed that overseas there are people who pick up bars mid run, this is the highest level of safety consideration. Fallen bars, and/ or wings, can cause a trip hazard for both handlers and dogs. At our trials, we will have someone to replace a bar if your dog knocks it. Course design will allow an adequate amount of obstacles in between for the bar to be replaced before you need to repeat the jump. If your dog is likely to be distracted by an extra person in the ring, particularly in the novice class, please let steward know on entering. We would encourage you though, to start to train this particular situation, considering as agility moves forward in Australia, this is going to become more and more commonplace.
