💉Our new pet health hub where you can access all your pet’s information. This includes vaccinations due, heartworm, worming, flea and tick treatment due dates as well as your pet’s weight and health status straight from our files!
📸 PLUS, you can add your favourite snap of your pet as their profile picture, which will then upload into our data base.

Over the next few weeks, we will post exciting updates as well as educational posts to show you how to navigate our new website and pet health hub which incorporates online booking.

🚐 Van update 🚐

We are so close! Adding some finishing touches over the weekend and waiting on some extra gear to turn up in the post 🙌

Kristy and I will begin contacting people off the waitlist in the next week or so. At this point, it makes sense to start at the beginning of the new financial year (biz things 🫠).

Our list is currently ginormous which is super exciting, so to keep things simple and running smooth on our end, we are going to be pretty strict on who is on our van schedule so here is my list of things to consider before joining the waitlist.

🐈‍⬛ We are only taking people who can commit to a 4 or 8 week schedule. 4wks for long, full coated cats, 8 for short coats or haircut cats. We don’t have the freedom of additional time on the road, like we do in the salon so your schedule is imperative.

🐈‍⬛ We aren’t doing full body mat/encased removal or one off visit’s. Please visit the vet for mat removal and pop into the salon on a Thursday if you’re not down to commit to a regular schedule.

🐈‍⬛Our minimum charge is $150, unless you’re a haircut cat ($180). Any additional cats will be at the normal price list price. All prices are inclusive of our travel time to come straight to your door.

🐈‍⬛We’ve decided to stay in the salon on a Thursday so we will be in the van on Wednesday’s & Friday’s.
Wednesday’s - Cessnock/Kurri/Surrounds
Thursday - In salon for our Singleton and regular salon babes
Friday’s - Maitland/Newcastle areas

They are a free social dog-walking group with walks in the Maitland, Hunter Valley and Newcastle areas. Walk details can be found by joining the 'Newcastle Doggie Dates' group on their page

We’ve just sent off a bunch of flyers to Greenhills Veterinary Hospitals for their puppy class bags.

We often get requests for the flyers for information bags in areas where we run walks - please reach out if you would like to provide your clients with information on our free social dog walking group which provides safe socialisation for all dogs.

A happy pet starts with a healthy smile! 😸🐶

When it comes to looking after dental health and preventing tooth extractions, many of the same principles apply in the animal world:

✅ Regular brushing, with good technique is first and foremost, and is great to start from the puppy/kitten stage so your pets become comfortable with it.

✅ Routine dental check ups and cleans (known as a dental scale & polish).

✅ Clinically proven products to prevent plaque & tartar and freshen breath - such as Oxyfresh water additive or dental-specific diets.

If you notice your pet has:
🦷 bad smelling breath
🦷 yellow/brown discolouration on their teeth
🦷 any changes in eating behaviour

Then it’s time for a check-up! Call us or head to our online pet portal to schedule a dental check-up for your furry friend.

This past week we have found paralysis ticks on several "indoors only" cats ‼️

Now is just as important as the summer months to ensure your cat or dog are up to date on tick & flea prevention.
Ticks have legs, and they use them to travel… They cling onto loose hair or fur of pets and people, onto shoes, bags and clothes, and are carried indoors.
If your pet is mostly indoors, or strictly indoors but lives with people or animals that go outdoors, they are at risk.
Year-round tick prevention and regular tick searches are key to keeping your pet safe.

Tick paralysis treatment is not only costly and a stressful experience for you and your pet, it can also be fatal.

Please give our friendly team a call if you would like to discuss what preventative treatments are available for your pet. We understand that it can be confusing to know what product is best when faced with multiple brands, but our friendly team are here to help 🐾 We can also set up reminders in our system to notify you when your pet's preventatives are next due.

A special part about nursing is recovering patients and being there for them physically and emotionally when they’re waking up. As a calm clinic, we prioritise our patients' comfort during recovery, and if that means extra blankets or cuddles after a procedure, then we have plenty of those to go around! Beautiful Nala the Boerboel received alllll the love from our team and recovered so well ❤

None of my own at the moment, but I live with four dogs: 3 Frenchie's (Snickers, Biscuit & Harley) and 1 chihuahua (Stella). I love cats as well, having lived with two previously, and am a self-proclaimed godparent to my grandparents Cavalier King Charles, Herbie 🐾

How majestic is Harley the Harlequinn Macaw! 🦜

The word "harlequin" has two meanings that are very appropriate for macaws. In one sense, it refers to a joker or clown, which perfectly reflects their cheeky and cheerful personality. It can also mean "variations of colour and pattern," an apt description for this beautiful, rainbow-coloured parrot. We were so lucky to have Harley put on a show for us during his visit!

Meet Norman, the bearded dragon🦎

Norman came to us this week for his annual health check with Dr Lacy and as you can see, he made himself right at home! 😁 Our reptile friends often don’t show us that they are unwell until they’re critically ill, so these checkups are extremely important to ensure they are feeling their best, especially as we head into winter.

Annual health checks are also a great opportunity to ask any questions you might have about how to care for your reptile. We know it can be really hard to sort through the large amounts of information out there.

Here at GVH we don't just see dogs and cats, we welcome your scaly and feathered friends too!
