We believe that everyone that has got a little space in their backyard can keep a couple of Chooks. That's what we mean by "Revolutionisation of the Backyard". Most of us enjoy eggs for breakfast and other forms of food. A very small number of chooks with very little effort can easily provide enough eggs for the family and can also make perfect pets. There are so many traditional chicken breeds in
so many different colours, we are pretty sure that anyone can find one that suites their garden. By raise your own chicken you are not only helping to preserve good old traditional breeds, making a contribution to stop animal cruelty by not buying factory farmed eggs. We are Harry and Martha Gill, living on a property located in Adelaide Hills, South Australia of About 44 acres. The property has three mixed orchards, a dam, lots of wood-land, a burgeoning veggie plot, a maremma sheep-dog and of course CHICKENS. We are very firm believers in organic and sustainable living away from chemicals and close to nature. We love our gardens and poultry and we are excited about starting up a small scale pastured poultry farm. Our love for poultry has grown recently to the point where we decided it would be a good thing for us to share our passion with others and aim to provide a range of poultry and fresh eggs. We are firm believers that hens that are able to range freely provide healthier, fresher, tastier eggs that have a true flavour to them that can’t be gained from caged birds. It’s great to go out in the morning and see the girls happily wandering around, free to develop as nature intended and producing their amazing little bundles of nutrition. When available we can supply straight run day old chicks, older chicks from 4 weeks to point of lay and for those wanting to try their hand at incubating eggs, we can provide fertile eggs. Over the next few months we intend on building up our Pure Breed stock of Chickens. We prefer to keep our flock small, that way we can provide all the care and attention they require, as well as keeping them happy. A happy chooky makes a good pet and produces better quality eggs.
