When Mr. Ed was tired of working, he would simply walk off the set. The horse would only respond to his trainer, Lester Hilton, and ignored his co-stars. As a result, Hilton had to be present on set at all times, issuing commands either verbally or through hand signals. Mr. Ed’s voice was kept a well-guarded secret, but it was actually provided by Allan Lane, a former cowboy star.
This show was one of the rare television series to begin in syndication before being picked up by a major network. In an interview, Alan Young mentioned that his natural hair color was dark blond. However, in black-and-white film, his hair blended too much with Mr. Ed’s color. To make him stand out, the makeup artist had Connie Hines' hairdresser dye his hair dark. Once the show ended, Young allowed his hair to return to its natural shade. The theme song was originally sung by Jay Livingston as a demo, with the intention of having a professional singer re-record it. However, the producers liked Livingston’s vocals so much that they decided to keep his version for the show.

Vintage Australian made saddle by George Davidson & Son.

Was gifted to its owners father in 1920 by an English Colonel who was in charge of the horses at The Royal Military College, Duntroon.

The stirrups and spurs are solid nickel.

Has been restuffed and lined with very little use over the last 40 years.

Gundaroo takes out best Tiny Town in the Top Tourism Town Awards presented today at the Destination Canberra Conference in front of 300 industry colleagues.

Recognising our outstanding regional destinations, the Top Tourism Town Awards showcase the value of tourism to the towns and communities across Australia and celebrate the diversity and outstanding regional destinations of our country. There are three categories that are open to enter which include, Top Tourism Town (population over 5,000 people), Small Tourism Town (population below 5,000 people but above 1,500 people) and Tiny Tourism Town (population below 1,500 people).

Congratulations go to Gundaroo this year in the category of Top Tiny Town! 🎉

Gundaroo will now represent the Canberra Region at the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards to be held at Parliament House in September.

We are pleased to let you know that repair work to the driveway is now complete. There is still a little bit of tinkering around the edges and we’ll complete this over time.

Due to the rain and cold weather, the work did take longer than we hoped.

It required many, many truck & dog loads of material being transported in.

Initial loads were road base to build areas up, then many more of bitumen millings to top it all off.

In total, we had over 700 tonne of material trucked in to do the job.

There was lots of machinery used including Truck & Dog/s, Positrack, Grader, Excavator/s and a Roller.

All of this machinery was delivered by Low Loader Semi Trailer.
