To replace a good horse!
The best horses are built over years of hauling, hard work, tough times, good times, bad times, big spooks, little spooks, their mistakes, our mistakes and continual love and care.

No, your breaker can not turn your young prospect into your old faithful in 30, 60, 90, or even 365 days. It takes years.

I’m plagued with the problem of trying to impress on people how long it truly takes to build that dream partner. There’s not a smooth paved path. Your green horse will embarrass you, frustrate you, and maybe even hurt you. For some of you, buying a $20,000-$30,000 horse is going to be worth it and SAVE you money. Even that more finished horse will take a year or more to sync up with.

Cheap rate for horse training is $1,000 a month.
1 year of training: $12,000
2 years of training: $24,000

Many of you won’t believe this but your dream horse is on the other side of two years of training. In reality, it’s likely around two years of training and two years of seasoning (hauling them to town). Will that horse still make mistakes? Yes, they all make mistakes until the day they die. But that horses mistakes probably won’t put you in serious danger and that horse will probably pack your grandkids around.

If you’re trying to decide between a $3,500 prospect or a $15,000 proven horse. My advice is to do an internal inventory and figure out what you want. Buying that prospect is like the first roll on the Jumanji board. You’re entered up, get ready for a journey of ups and downs (possibly quite literally!) If you’re buying that finished horse decide what you really want, get ready for a lot of shopping and painfully overpriced sh****rs.

If you want a project and a challenge I’m not hating, that’s what I want in a horse too, so I buy young ones. If you need a safe one, bring lots of money and quit thinking you need a 6 year old. You probably don’t have what it takes to mentally support that 6 year old through new situations.

The biggest reason I bring this up is because as folks retire their old faithful they are so far removed from when that horse was green and did dumb stuff. They forgot how tough those two years were back when he was 4-6. They only remember the amazing horse he was when he matured. The 3 year old they just bought is YEARS from filling that horses shoes when it comes to training level and safety level. I see people hate on trainers because the trainer couldn’t make their young horse, “finished” in 90 days. It’s honestly the biggest reason I like taking c**ts for 30 or 60 days. The expectation is shockingly lower than when I take one for 90 days. It’s weird what people expect from a 90 day start. Most people should commit to sending their young horse out for a full year. Two years would be even better.

💯Green horses do green horse things, don’t blame others for the challenge you bought yourself. !!!!!

Accept the challenge or pay the price for one further along. No matter which path you choose with horses, it’s going to cost you. …

The $9.2 million sire A Streak Of Fling has moved to the Lazy E Ranch in Guthrie, Oklahoma, bringing the top-producing living stallion in barrel racing to the premier breeding facility in the United States.

A Streak Of Fling, the 1999 son of Streakin Six out of Moon Fling by Fast Fling, is owned by South Dakota's Fulton Performance Horses, producing offspring like Jake Clay's two-time BFI Champion and Head Horse of the BFI, Streakin Sun Dew, Garrett Tonozzi's two-time WCRA Champion Head Horse Streakin Disco and fellow Lazy E stallion Oz Ona Hot Streak, who won the first Calgary Stampede team roping with Ross Ashford.

"This is a positive move for Streaker for a few reasons: Number one, he’s moving closer to us," owner Lisa Fulton said. "We’re at the Lazy E a lot, and we can see our guy more. Two, we do all our repro work at the Gragg Ranch/Oklahoma City Equine Center 5 miles away, as we have for 13 years. And three, there's so much visibility at the Lazy E—every time you walk down the hall to the concession stand, you see all those photos on the wall. With the stallion tours, all of the people who come to the E for so many of the largest events in all of the industry will get to meet Streaker and enjoy him."

Lazy E Ranch will handle all booking and contracts for A Streak Of Fling, whose stud fee is $6,500 in 2024 and is available for cooled semen and ICSI only.

“Adding A Streak Of Fling to our lineup of stallions is absolutely in line with keeping the best performance and race horses in the nation at the Lazy E,” Monty McNair, Lazy E Ranch manager, said. “Our staff is primed to keep Streaker at the top of his breeding game, with the best veterinarians and staff possible to serve every mare owner at any location.”

Dr. Carly Turner-Garcia is the Lazy E's managing veterinarian, overseeing the stallion's breeding on-site. Dr. Turner-Garcia worked with long-time Fulton vet Dr. Brian Carroll and Dr. Dee Gragg at Oklahoma City Equine Center, adding to the Fulton's confidence in the Lazy E's services. Dr. Carroll was the long-time vet at the James Ranch, where A Streak Of Fling stood for the first time after moving to a full-time stallion station in 2010.

"To us, Streaker is Brian," Lisa said of the horse's relation to her late husband who qualified for the NFR in both the tie-down and steer wrestling. "Brian’s the one Streaker had to fit when we got him home. He wanted a stud he could ride and rope and do everything on. Streaker brings back all of those wonderful memories—those bring smiles and happy thoughts. He was what we were looking for to go forward with. A lot of the youngsters didn’t know him, and didn’t know what Brian did, but Streaker was bought for the roping and bull do***ng end of the arena. Where the market is today, this is our chance to bring him full circle. Brian had him knot-roping down the wall in eight weeks. It’s all come about full circle to see so much happening in the roping, and bringing Streaker to the E will continue that circle.”

It’s not the winning barrel racing videos I miss….
I miss these videos just him being him … the smell of his sweaty stallion coat .. 😢 the way he would stop what ever he was doing and coming cantering up to me … the cold crisp mornings we spent together mustering cattle the smell of this beautiful country side early hours of the morning up in the hills made you feel alive he carried me safety for 21 years …. just all the little things …. 😞😢 I miss my horse so much my heart is broken and it’s not getting better … I lost apart of my soul the day the universe took him away from me .. appreciate the time YOU HAVE with your equine soul mates , while you have them by your side and NEVER ever take them for granted not one day !!! I would do any thing to have him back just even for one day or a hour !! He just knew how to make everything better 😢
