Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend for some horsey fun! 😁🙌🦄

As always Melbourne can give us all types of weather and being on the coast we get 4 seasons in one day so please come prepared!

If you haven’t contacted me and would like to come and spend sometime with your horse and friends then just drop me a DM and I’ll share the details.

It’s not the mountain we conquer but ourselves. ~ Sir Edmund Hillary

Last weekend I went on my second big over night hike, well big for a beginner! The distance would be shorter, I would be carrying more and the terrain unknown to me.

It was my first Summit experience, Mt Buller to Stirling, 10km up and 9km back ✅

Hiking up and down mountains carrying a pack is certainly an experience. It gives you time to think, contemplate and learn about yourself.

And you sweat like crazy 🤪

There were 3 key messages that stood out to me on this hike.

Just how much we ask our horses to do. How much they carry and keep putting in. The toll that can take on the horses body if you don’t read the situation and are aware of the physical, mental and emotional limits of the horse. But how you can play and build on these so they expand in a beneficial way for the horse.

At first I thought that walking up hill was hard. And it was. But the longer you walk, the harder going down steep hills is. Your body has to brace and balance not only you but the weight carried on the back. Going down requires far more concentrating on where the feet are placed and balance! Where going up hill just required grit, determination and mind over matter.

I will remeber this when riding and always look to build on the mental, emotional and physical aspects of my horses.

I can also now look at the mountain and l know I can make it up there…well this time 🤣

My first hike I just looked down as the climb in front of me was challenging to my body and mental toughness.

I leant that there is no quitting.

You just can’t quit when you’re hiking because you can either turn back and face the path you’ve hiked or go forward.

There’s no jumping off the gym machine and quitting. You have to walk. This is what I found builds the mental toughness and grit as every way you turn requires more walking 🤪

When your body is hurting, every inch of you is sweating and you have miles still to walk, you just find that place of mind over matter and place one foot in front of the other.

The achievement you feel at the summit is amazing!

And at the end of the hike you feel spent, but have a massive sense of achievement.

I’m getting addicted to the challenge.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISABELLE🥕🎉❤️

I can’t believe a year has past.

Seeing her born was amazing and the bond she has with me feels so different.

She was full of surprises with her colour changing so quickly from chestnut to roan in such a short space of time. And she did eventually trot rather than canter everywhere.

Looking forward to the journey together as she grows. 💕

Happy 1st Birthday 🥕

Ready to ride!

Well after a rather long break from teaching horsemanship....I’m back🎉

As many of you know I have a Parelli background and was a licensed 2* instructor for over 12yrs. Over my break I have continued to study and attend clinics with Rachel Clarkson from Horsemanship Australia with my personal horse. I have been busy being a new foal mum too 😂... gosh they’re adorable!

I have also thoroughly enjoyed completing Karen Rohlf’s Finding the Sweet Spot of Healthy Biomechanics & the Upward Spiral of Successful Gymnastics courses. Both blending the natural horsemanship world & dressage to build a happy, athletic & trusting partnership with your horse.

If you’re looking for support on your natural horsemanship journey or just starting out then drop me a message and we can chat further to book a lesson with you and your horse.

There are a number of days that I will be travelling to clients but will also be holding lessons at my property in Jam Jerrup.

The GAP between the vision you have for you and your horsemanship comes down to Aligned Action & Habits.

I see this GAP in my life, in my horsemanship and what I want to achieve.

There is no failure
Just lessons for growth.

Close the GAP!
Build positive habits & take aligned action.

What a magic 10days away with Cricket 💕

Time away with Cricket was amazing this year. We played, rode and learnt together. Stretching the boundaries along side others.

We had some great liberty moments, better finesse, laterals and flying changes this year and even survived the x-country 😂 ~ thanks Rachel Clarkson

It was like being in another world.
Wifi and phone reception was virtually non existent, so sorry for not replying to those that messaged me!

But spending time with 8 amazing people passionate about learning was good for the soul.

Living on the learning edge.

The past 5 days have allowed me to experience living on the learning edge. To put into practice what I know and achieve changes in a short period of time.

To find that edge of learning where one doesn’t drop off the cliff, but seeks a solution, for both humans and horses.

To feel that moment when an understanding between horse and human is achieved in a dignified way.

When training horses we really see this. We see when they know and when they are learning.

What’s easy and what’s harder for us and them.

The past 4 days was great and very rewarding, but today was super special as I got to see little Winter (who’s not so little anymore) learn something new.

He experienced wearing a halter for the first time.

I can’t thank you Rachel Clarkson enough for spending those moments with us and seeing you with Winter as he discovered something new in life❤️

It’s these points in life where all my skills, feel and timing come together and we learn. It’s far from just slapping on a halter and seeing them deal with it.
It’s really not about the halter.

These are the moments when you’re setting them up and preserving their confidence and curiosity as a learner.

It’s the delicate moments that feel the most rewarding. The ability to make the right decision when it could all go south so quickly.

Now I don’t always make the right decision, but that’s the point of learning, the moment of choice.

Winter has such an amazing brain that will challenge me at times for sure but it’s so exciting to think of the now and the future with him. ❤️

A horse can hear a human heart beat from at least 4 feet away.

They feel intention.

They are the tellers of self and the mirror of souls.

Today was a day to stay in bed!
An inside day.

The wind was howling, the rain pelting from the sky and it was icy cold 🥶

I ventured out to feed the horses and that was about it.

The rest of the day was spent listening to podcasts, and lives on horsemanship, horse anatomy, meditation with horses, movement and disfunction.

As you can see Luna was in on it too!

I love connecting the dots of horsemanship, anatomy, healthy movement and our inner being. It’s always a work in progress as I add depth and scope to my knowledge.

There is so much in an approach and “Being “ around a horse, your energy can bring tension to them or help it melt away.

You can activate prey animal muscles and bring on tension or know how to help the horse turn them off, relax and let go.

A session can be guided by us but is lead by the horse and what shows up.

I had the honour of giving this beautiful young stallion a Bowen treatment today!

He was such a sweetie and was ready for a good nap in his stall after. Can wait to see what he looks like in a few years when all grown up.

Wow what a weekend of fun...in the wild Melbourne weather 🤣 💨

I’m so proud of these ladies showing up and putting their horsemanship 1st!

We had a rather strong easterly breeze, well let’s be honest gusting to 50km winds and the horses didn’t miss a beat!

We spent time understanding the amazing systems Parelli has for us to follow and progress our horsemanship online, at liberty and under saddle.

Don't Do Natural Horsemanship

A great read!

A way of being rather than a way of doing!

Karen Rohlf explains what it means to do natural horsemanship and how it connects to sport-specific disciplines like dressage or jumping.

Building Partnerships, Phases and Patterns!

Loved sharing my place with these ladies as they progressed their horsemanship.

Great laugh!

We see if two men and horse suit can dance better than a horse with years of training.

25/10/2019

Wednesday workshops will be on again👏💥

The weather is warming and it’s time to brush all the winter coat out and saddle up!

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again and progressing our horsemanship this Summer!!

Bookings essential.

Thank you to all that made the dental day. Always learn and see new interesting things inside the horses mouth.
All horses were excellent and we look forward to a revisit in May 2020!
