🦷 Bad breath isn’t just unpleasant, it can be unhealthy! If you’ve noticed a change in your pet’s breath, discoloured or stained teeth, or discomfort when they eat, your pet could be experiencing periodontal disease.
Just like us, dogs and cats need regular dental check-ups and cleanings to keep their teeth and gums healthy. Professional dental cleaning removes plaque and tartar build up that cannot be removed with brushing and dental treats.
Book a FREE dental check today and take advantage of our $50 discount on a scale and polish during July. Let’s get those chompers sparkling! ✨

❄️ Winter can be tough on our pets' joints. If your dog or cat is showing signs of discomfort or stiffness, it could be joint mobility issues. Cold weather can make these problems worse, but we’re here to help! 🐢🐱

It's easy to dismiss your pet’s discomfort as simply a sign of aging, but senior pets deserve to live comfortably and pain-free! 🐾❀️

Just like us, our furry friends crave a mix of physical and mental workouts. While outdoor adventures are unbeatable, we know it can be hard to keep up with daily walks as the days get shorter. Luckily there are plenty of indoor tricks to keep your pup engaged!

🏠✨ Perhaps explore food puzzles, training exercises, scent work, or good ol' playtime to make indoor time as enriching as their outdoor escapades.

πŸ’ Could your pet have Osteoarthritis?
OA can be very painful. And, just like in humans, pain can negatively impact their quality of life, not just physically, but also emotionally. The good news is that by identifying OA early, you and your veterinarian can develop a treatment plan for your cat or dog.

With winter approaching, it's essential to ensure your furry companions stay warm and comfortable. ❄️ Keep your pets warm with our top 5 winter tips:

🏑 Bring them inside if possible, on chilly days/nights to protect them from the elements.
πŸƒ For outdoor pets, provide insulated shelter with soft bedding.
🧣 Invest in winter clothing like coats or jumpers, especially for older or short-haired pets.
🐾 Adjust walk times to warmer parts of the day or shorten walks to limit cold exposure.
βœ‚οΈ Skip the shave! Regular brushing prevents matting without compromising warmth.

As your cat ages, their needs evolve. Here are our top tips for taking care of your cat during their senior years:

πŸ₯£ Food & Water: Ensure seniors eat and drink enough. Offer small, frequent meals and accessible water.
😸 Playtime: Keep them active with gentle play, improving muscle tone and circulation.
😴 Sleeping: Aging cats tend to sleep more. Provide cosy bedding in warm, draft-free spot and monitor any changes in sleeping patterns.
🩺 Regular Check-ups: Health exams, including dental checks, every six months catch issues early.

By recognising and addressing the specific needs of senior cats, you can ensure they enjoy a comfortable and fulfilling life in their later years.

Please remember that chocolate is toxic to pets, especially dogs, so be mindful of where the Easter bunny hides their treats!

If you don’t want your pet to miss out on the Easter fun, try a pet-friendly treasure hunt around your home or backyard with some of their favourite treats and toys. Be sure to supervise your pet during the search, and give lots of encouragement, praise and assistance when needed.

Our team hopes you are having a happy and safe Easter πŸ‡βœ¨βœ¨

Listen up! Your pet's ears deserve some TLC too. πŸΆπŸ˜ΊπŸ‘‚

Many pets are prone to ear infections, but they are seen more commonly in dogs. Signs of ear disease include scratching/ rubbings at their ears, a foul odour or discharge as well as swelling and redness.

Luckily, most ear infections are easily treatable but if left they can result in serious damage. It’s always best to have ear problems seen by us so we can properly diagnose the problem and effectively treat it. 🩺

Dear beloved and dedicated clients of Kingston Animal Hospital,
As most of you know, Dr Chris Lee passed away in September of last year.

Dr Lee was diagnosed just before Christmas 2022 with pancreatic cancer. He fought so hard and strong for himself, his beautiful family and all of his friends/clients.

This disease has very minimal research and funding at this stage. 68 Australians die from pancreatic cancer each week, and 12 people will be diagnosed every single day.

Our team at Kingston Animal Hospital are joining Pankind Australia for the Put Your Foot Down Walk 2024! It will be held on Sunday the 17th of March. All details can be found from the link below, or on the Pankind Australia website.

We know how much Dr Lee meant to each and every one of our clients, so we would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join our team!
Team Name : Chris' Critters

Please help us fight as hard as Dr Lee did and reach our donation goal of $5000 for our beloved Dr Chris Lee πŸ’œ

Be prepared, not scared! πŸ”₯🐾 As we are in bushfire season, it's crucial to have a plan for our pets.

🚨 Create a pet emergency kit with enough supplies to last at least 3 days – food, water, medications, and comfort items. Have a leash and carrier ready for a quick evacuation. Stay informed about local evacuation routes and shelters.

Let's ensure our pets stay safe and secure over the summer. 🏑🐱
