Please take this as your reminder to be vigilant and to take extra precautions to be prepared in the case of an emergency!!

With Easter nearing here's a reminder that chocolate and cute rawhide products are a huge NO NO ...

IF your pooch gets into any chocolate it is definitely an emergency vet trip without hesitation, the carob chocolate you'll find in the pet shop is safe for dogs , but like us moderation is key!!

You may be tempted by all the cutely decorated rawhide treats but these are so toxic so please avoid them ..

We use RoverPetProducts, they have a cute Easter range coming out and all their products are natural and locally sourced, and ofcourse we love to support small local companies.

HAPPY DOGZ NOTICE !!

🐩 we want to thank everyone once again for our continuous support, our Happy Dogz family mean so much to us and we wouldn't be where we are without you all!

🐩 to everyone who has set themselves up with appointments for the year , you are amazing , we are still not taking New clients and are about to close bookings for the entire 2023 , we are so completely busy that we really have had to limit our daily appointments to ensure we can continue doing our best grooming and spend quality time with each every pup ! We encourage you to let us know if you want to set a schedule and send some dates , we will do our best to fit where we can , but again we have limited space and we apologise that we can not guarantee any spaces .
We understand that this post is going to cause a bit of panic and our phone is going to go crazy , so please give us time to get back to all the messages , this could take us a week or so.

🐩 finally... and heartbreakingly we need to announce that Ellie will no longer be with us , 😭😭 Ellie has been with us nearly 4 years and has helped us grow into the busy salon we are now, we and the pups are going to miss her presence everyday but you will still be able to catch her at the pub in her new management roll 🥰

After a harrowing week with our boy Trunks , I thought id take the opportunity to do a little informative post on dogs and snakes . Trunksies update at the end 🥰

Some dogs naturally have a higher prey drive than others , some are more territorial than others, and a snake entering coming into their yard can pose a threat. It's only natural, so how can we avoid a snake?

•keep your yard free of rubble , over growth and hidey holes
•keep bird aiveries and chicken coops clean
•do a quick check of the yard before letting your pups out.

Its not always avoidable, snakes come in a vary of sizes & colours and can sneak into the smallest of spaces.

What to do if you your dog is bitten or has a suspected snake bite?

•if you see your dog with the snake , do not try to grab your dog or snake , this will risk your own safety, instead call your dog away, get your dogs attention however you can .
(In my situation, I saw trunks with the snake , I had to throw sticks at him to snap him out of attacking the snake )
•if you have another person with you , get them to call a local snake catcher, and keep eyes on the snake from a safe distance
•immediately call your vet (your vet should be able to advise you from here )
•You DO NOT need to identify the species of snake for treatment

What signs to look for if you suspect your dog has been bitten

•pupils fully dilated
•full body shakes
•wobbly legs
•collapse
•laboured breath

These signs typically appear almost immediately to an hour but can take up to 24 hours to start taking affect. The venom rapidly takes over the dogs body , it is vital to get to a vet ASAP! Call your vet on the way so they are prepared for you and to ensure the have the necessary "Blood Clotting Kits " . In the case of not being able to contact your vet , immediately go to your closes emergency / after hours vet.

Trunks was 100%his normal self until 22 hours after getting the snake .
His eyes suddenly became fully dilated and within half an hour he was completely paralysed and only just breathing .

A massive shout out to our amazing trusted Dr Chris & team at Oxenford Veterinary Surgery, they have the "blood clotting kits" needed to test and confirm it was indedd a snake bite. Karli , Ellie and I have used these guys for many many years and can not fault them . Their sense of urgency , immediate care , organising Trunks' transfer and their worldly experience and knowledge saved Trunks life. That we are eternally grateful!!

Another huge shout out to the Veterinary Specialist Service and Emergency centre for being prepared the second we walked in to begin Trunks' treatment . Trunks spent 3 days in the Intensive Care Unit under a 24 hour watch , whilst he was administered the anti-venene and hoped he would recover .

Unfortunately, the anti-venene , which is the same we use for humans , and the same that is used regardless of the snake species (which is why, there is no need to risk time and your own safety identifying the snake ) does not reverse or repair the damage already done , but only stops the progression of the venom .

We got it to Trunks with minutes to spare. He is now recovering well at home , he has been told it is strict bed rest for up to 3 weeks while his body repairs itself. He is very wobbly still, can only walk a few metres at a time before needing to sleep a while longer, but we expect a full recovery !!

Thankyou everyone fir the support , love and prayers , once again we are a so thankful for happy dogz family always being so patient and understanding when we need it the most !

Tarrins beautiful boxer Trunks is currently in the animal emergency hospital VSS, after being bitten by an eastern brown snake in their backyard.
Trunks is responding well to antivenin and we are all hoping he pulls through.

Please everyone be very vigilant in your backyards and horse paddocks there are so many snakes around right now.

Happy Dogz is now FULLY BOOKED until Feb 2023 !

Thankyou to everyone who has sent through their dates and we are glad that we were able to get them set up!

We have done our best to get everyone in before Christmas but we absolutely can not fit any more dogs 😭!!

If you have missed out on an appointment please still message us and we can pop you on our cancellation list .

Unfortunately this also means if you miss an appointment we will not be able to rebook you.

If you wish to book in for 2023 we have availability from Feb 2023 onwards .

🎄 we will be taking our yearly Christmas break from Dec 24th - Jan 16th, to refresh and relax before getting back to tour beautiful pups for the new year!

🎄 we would like to please remind clients to not return for pick up of your pooch until we send you a message or until the organised time , as this excites your pup and its hard for us to resettle them and finish their their 'do ! They are just too excited to see their parents !

To all our Happy Dogz family , please take a moment to read to the end !!

It's that time of year again , where the sun is getting a little warmer , and the days a little longer . This means we are getting inundated with messages and calls to make an appointment for the woolly pups ! Please note that we are currently booking well in advance. We don't have many appointments left between now and Christmas. So this is your friendly reminder, that if you have not already got your bookings set up to please do so ASAP or risk not getting in .

We have again decided to temporarily stop taking New clients until further notice, however , if you are a new client please still send us a text to be placed on our cancellation list in the chance a client cancels.

We have also decided that we will no longer be taking clients that are not on a regular schedule, meaning if we have not seen your pup within the last 6 months , we will not be able to schedule them in . WHY? The reason for this is because a dog who comes on a regular 4, 6 , 8 , 12 week schedule , is familiar and comfortable with us , their coat is in good to excellent condition and we know their behaviour & health well. A dog who does not visit regularly, takes a lot longer time to settle , they see the grooming as a bit scary and unfamiliar aswell as the coat is often in poor condition, matted , dirty and a lot of extra time and work is needed .

Please remember, that last minute appointments are just not possible coming into the warmer months , we feel terrible to turn clients away but we can not physically do any more dogs between the 3 of us in a day . We truly appreciate advance booking and setting schedules to avoid us being overbooked!

LASTLY ... please DO NOT open our gate when you come into the salon . We understand your pup is excited to see you , as you are too them but please please understand that opening the gate is a huge safety issue, we are on a very busy road and I would be devastated to think what could happen if a dog was accidentally let out! We sometimes need a minute or two to ensure all dogs are secure in a safe position so we can leave them and speak to you and let your pup out . We ask that you absolutely do not open the gate in that time .

Doesn't this just make you want to snuggle!

Having giant hairy breeds can be high maintenance, so these beautiful kids have visited the salon since they were wee babies and have a 4 weekly schedule to keep those stunning coats , clean , healthy and knot free !! They absolutely love the attention!

We would like to remind you also that if you can't attend your appointment please send us a text the day before, No Show appointments are really tough on us and will mean we can not fill that spot , so a client misses out. Giving us notice allows us to fill that spot from the cancellation list . We try to be very accommodating to cancellations and understand things come up , this is why we do not charge a fee. We just ask for notice.

There is just 16 weeks until Christmas and for most clients that will be 2-3 grooming appointments left for the year.
As with every year we will be closing from Christmas day - January 18th .

UPDATE ! Chanel has been found !! What a scary weekend in the wilderness for such a tiny girl. But she is home now , with a full belly , rugged up in the bed for some much needed rest.

She is only tiny , a puppy and went missing on the 22nd from Plunkett Reserve On Flesser Rd, Cedar Creek.
She is currently on medication for a health issue so we are all very concerned.

Happy Dogz is remaining open at this point!

We ask that you take a moment to read our sign on our door before entering our salon , which lists some basic guidelines to keep us , and you safe . We are taking extra measures to ensure our salon is clean and disinfected between each client , we will be wearing masks and highly recommend that you do the same upon entry .

We are only accepting dogs who have appointment. No walk ins will be accepted so please ensure you text us before coming down 0402163822.

If you or someone you have been in contact with has been overseas within the last 14days, please stay home . You can send us a text to rebook or cancel your appointment til further notice. Same goes if you or anyone in your household is showing any illness or flu like symptoms.

Only 1person to enter the salon at any time . If someone is already in our reception please wait outside until they have left . Please avoid bringing the whole family and children where possible.

Do NOT touch our staff. We love your hugs and well wishes but please keep as much distance between us as possible.

Make your drop off and pick ups as quick as possible, goodbyes and kisses to your pup should be done outside the salon to shorten your visit as much as possible.

Please remove any collars and leashes before entering the salon and take them with you and hand your pup over as quickly as possible. Collect your pup as soon as you receive your message or time of pick up to avoid multiple people returning at once.

If you need to discuss your pooches groom send us a text before entering or let staff know to call you in regards to your pet . Any other concerns send us a text to call you also and we will do our best to accommodate everyone where we can. 0402163822

If you are concerned for your health in any way or deem ypur pets groom not necessary for now please reschedule or cancel .

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE:

WE WILL REMAIN OPEN!

Happy Dogz will remain open , however we ask that you stick to the official quarantine advice. If you are returning from a holiday please follow the 14 day quarantine guidelines . Unfortunately this means avoiding dropping off your pooches to us within those 14 Days.

We will not be charging cancellation fees or being upset at a last minute cancellation but we do ask you let us know when you know that you will not be able to make it.

We will keep you all updated if any changes occur , and hope every body stays healthy and looks out for each other !

A quick reminder of what is not safe for your pets this Christmas! Save yourselves an emergency veterinary bill by avoiding these foods!

If your taking your pooch along for the festivities, take there own snack pack of favourite treats and there own meals so they can feel part of the party.

Remember never feed somebody else's dog with out permission from their mum and dad, let's keep all our fur kids safe this Christmas!

DID YOU KNOW // The Naughty List 🐾🎄

It's coming up to that time of year! The Silly Season! But we must ensure we aren't silly when it comes to our dogs and what they ingest!

Here are some big ones to avoid!

Chocolate: The cacao seeds that give chocolate its delicious qualities also contain a compound called theobromine, which is toxic to cats and dogs and, if consumed, cause serious illness or death. We all love to get chocolate for Christmas but ensure it is out of reach from your dog!

Raisins and Grapes: This also includes your Christmas pudding! The raisins and grapes found in pudding can be fatally toxic to dogs, even in small quantities!

Pork and Fatty Meats: Some pork products contain a high amount of fat, which can lead to illnesses like pancreatitis.

Cooked Bones: These are danger as they tend to splinter when chewed by dogs, causing damage to their teeth, mouth, throat and intestines.

If you're unsure of what your dog can and cannot eat, ask your local Vet! Keep them safe this year folks!

CHRISTMAS IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!

Happy dogz will be closed from 23rd December and re -open January 15th . Our January is already booked out when we return and we are now taking bookings for February.

Just a quick reminder that we are fully booked up this coming Christmas week... with our busiest week all year expected .. if you have your pooch booked in this week we ask that you please be patient with us .. your pup may spend a little longer in the salon and we ask that you try your best to be on time for your appointment so we can try our best to keep on track of time. We also will not be able to move any appointments around this week at all and late or no shows may result in you losing your appointment spot. Thankyou in advance for your understanding and patience!

Grooming can be so relaxing ! Miss Belle has been a 3 weekly regular since she was just a baby and just loves her visits 😍 so much so she often falls asleep mid brush !

The Happy Dogz team are proud believers of dynavyte. We only stock products that we use and truly believe in ! Both Karli and I feed Dynavyte MBS religiously to our pups ! We have noticed such a huge improvement on not only their coat but their digestion as well... Trunks, being only an 8 month old puppy loves getting into things his belly doesn't agree with , adding dynavyte to his dinner each night has ensured no more diarrhea or sloppy poos making him feel much better and leaving more time for playing!

Dynavyte for dogs and horses is now available in our store !

**EDIT **10 days after she went missing , the little sweetheart has been found , hiding in a ladies yard but too frightenedto come out to them, the son then saw her posts and let Lisa know and she came and took her home! She is SAFE now!

If anyone has seen this little girl can they please contact her owners they are desperate to get her home 🐶

I love playing with colour!!!! I'm a bit late in posting this but how adorable is Rachel !!

Rachel's mum is also a groomer so she came already in a perfect groom I just "brightened" her up a little !! Rachel's brother's favourite colour is rainbow so Rachel is now a walking Rainbow 🎨🌈🥰

We use pet safe doggy dye . This is a permanent dye so Rachel will sporting these colours until it grows out or eventually fades! Pre booking for colour is important to ensure we have plenty of the right colours you want!
