🎉 Kitten Cuddle Challenge Winner Announcement: The Furball Force! 🎉

Earlier today, we were thrilled to announce Watsonia North Primary School as one of the winners in our Kitten Cuddle Fundraising Challenge. We are equally excited to celebrate our second winner—a workplace team fittingly called ‘The Furball Force!’

The fundraising efforts of this extraordinary team were nothing short of spectacular! Spearheaded by an incredibly passionate team captain (who happens to have two rescue cats of her own), The Furball Force, made up of 8 team members, planned and executed an amazing range of fundraising activities over 6 weeks, raising over $1,600! Along the way, they educated their colleagues, friends, family, and local community on why cats make wonderful companion animals.

Their creativity truly shined with events like: 🐾 A "Cakes for Cats" afternoon tea, where attendees enjoyed cat-themed cakes while watching hilarious cat videos. 🐾 A pawsome raffle with prizes generously donated by local supporters. 🐾 “Cat Army” posters displayed throughout the workplace, spreading cat love far and wide. 🐾 And even teaming up with local businesses for a “Guess the Jellybeans” jar challenge.

We are beyond grateful and absolutely blown away by the incredible energy and heart The Furball Force put into this challenge. Their passion for helping cats in need is truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to celebrate with them during their very well-deserved Kitten Cuddle Experience!

A huge round of applause to the Grade 5/6 students from @, our first winners of the Kitten Cuddle Challenge!

Over the past two months, we’ve been rallying schools, workplaces, and organisations to help raise much-needed funds for the 500+ kittens we expect to care for this kitten season. And these inspiring students absolutely rose to the challenge! 🐱

Not only did they select CPSV as their charity of choice, but they also worked in small groups to create and sell handmade items at their school Market Day, raising an incredible $863.50! 💰🎉 Along the way, they learned valuable lessons in business and teamwork and discovered more about our mission to care for and rehome kittens in need. 🐾

Their hard work and dedication have made a real impact on the lives of vulnerable kittens, and for that, we are beyond grateful. As a special thank you, these students will enjoy their very own Kitten Cuddle Session, filled with all the warm and fuzzy feels they’ve truly earned. 🐾💖

At The Cat Protection Society of Victoria, we’re committed to giving every cat and kitten who seeks refuge at our shelter a chance to find their happily furever after. Last year, we rehomed 98% of the cats and kittens who came into our care, and this wouldn’t be possible without your ongoing support. For many, like our Santa Paws Christmas Appeal star Jeremy, this journey takes incredible dedication and resources.

Jeremy’s story is one of resilience. Born in a backyard shed and abandoned by his mother at just six weeks old, Jeremy arrived at our shelter on the 25th of May, barely clinging to life. Tests revealed he had heart disease, requiring urgent and ongoing treatment. Understandably, his early months left him anxious and fearful, but thanks to the love and care of our team, Jeremy has blossomed into a beautiful, friendly, and inquisitive teenager with a playful spirit.

The cost of Jeremy’s care has exceeded $1,500, and though he has been available for adoption for almost six weeks, his health needs mean he’s still patiently waiting for a family to open their hearts to him. Despite his condition, Jeremy leads a joyful, active life, and we believe he could enjoy a long, happy future with the right care. His heart disease doesn’t define him—it’s his charm, resilience, and loving nature that truly stand out.

🎄 Santa Paws Christmas Appeal: A Not-So-Festive Season for Cats in Need 🎄

While we’re all preparing for a season of joy and togetherness, hundreds of surrendered and stray cats are facing a very different Christmas—one filled with loneliness, fear, and uncertainty. 💔

Last Christmas, 310 cats found refuge at our shelter, each spending an average of 59 days in our care. With costs of $25 per day for food, medicine, bedding, toys, and loving staff support, that added up to over $450,000. And this year, we are expecting even more cats and kittens are expected to arrive.

This is where you come in. Your donation can make all the difference this Christmas.

🐾 Your gift could provide a frightened, lonely cat with toys to keep them entertained and happy on Christmas morning.

🐾 You can also help cover the cost of a cosy bed or igloo, so an abandoned cat has a safe, warm place to rest during the festive season.

On this Remembrance Day, as we honour the brave men and women who served in Australia’s wartime efforts, let’s take a moment to remember the unsung heroes—cats. 🐾❤️

During both World Wars, cats played a vital role in keeping morale high and ships, trenches, and camps free from pests. These feline companions provided comfort, friendship, and a sense of home to soldiers far from their loved ones. Whether aboard naval ships or in military camps, cats were cherished for their loyalty and their ability to lift spirits in difficult times.

Today, we honor not only the soldiers but also their four-legged companions who shared in their journey. 🌹🐾

🐾 A Heartfelt Milestone: Squidge Graduates from Foster Care! 🐾

It’s hard to believe, but our little Squidge, who arrived in our care at just 1 day old, has officially graduated from foster care! Over the past two months, we’ve watched this precious neonate grow, thrive, and charm everyone with his sweet, affectionate nature. Yesterday, Squidge bid an emotional farewell to the incredible foster family who opened their hearts and home to him, ensuring he had the love and care needed to blossom.

As is the case with all our cats, Squidge has been desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and given a full health assessment by our Vet team. He’s now ready to embark on the next chapter of his life, and we are beyond excited to share that Squidge will be available for adoption this weekend!

With his undeniable cuteness and gentle spirit, we know Squidge won’t be in our shelter for long before he finds his purrfect forever family.

To Squidge’s amazing foster family, we can’t thank you enough for your selflessness and dedication. You’ve played a crucial role in giving him the best start in life. And to our wonderful community of donors and supporters—your generosity allows us to provide this level of care to kittens like Squidge, whether they arrive at 1 day or 18 years of age. We couldn’t do it without you.

Wendy came into our care in November 2023 after being rescued from a hoarding situation. Having spent most of her life without much human interaction, Wendy is a shy and gentle soul, still wary of people. But beneath her cautious nature lies a heart full of potential. While Wendy hasn't yet experienced the comfort of a loving home, she thrives in the company of other cats. Her ideal home would have a friendly feline who can help her learn that humans can be trusted. Wendy needs a patient family experienced with shy cats who can give her the time and space to blossom. In a quiet home, without children or dogs, Wendy will learn that love is kind, gentle, and worth trusting.

Bonnie, who arrived in August 2023, is a unique and captivating spirit. She’s a curious young lady who, while still preferring to observe life from a safe distance, is beginning to discover the joys of companionship. Like Wendy, Bonnie finds comfort in the presence of other cats and, through them, is learning to trust humans. In a peaceful home without young children or dogs, Bonnie will have the chance to become a truly loving companion.

Bonnie enjoys quiet moments in cozy corners, where she feels safe and can observe her surroundings. With time and patience, Bonnie will start seeking out gentle touches and soft words, rewarding her family with small but heartwarming steps toward trust. Each day brings Bonnie closer to becoming the sweet, affectionate cat she’s meant to be.

Both Wendy and Bonnie need a family who understands their journey and is ready to offer them the patience and care they deserve.

🐾 A HUGE heartfelt thank you to the amazing Penny and Charlene from Elanco!
Not only do they work tirelessly with our adoption shelter team to ensure our cats are protected with the best flea and worming control through Advantage and Advocate products, but today, they took on an extra special role—corporate volunteers! 🙌

These gems spent their day helping with everything from cleaning and prepping, to gardening, and even assisting our marketing team with a big mail-out. And guess what? They did it all with the biggest smiles! 😊

🎉 A huge shoutout to the superstars from Greensborough Primary School, Watsonia Heights Primary, and Hester Hornbrook Academy for joining our Cat Crusader pilot Education Program this term! 🐾 These students learned all about cats as companions and what it takes to be a responsible cat owner. And guess what? They got creative and made some seriously amazing promo materials to spread the word—everything from posters and bumper stickers to podcasts, poems, persuasive essays, and even t-shirt designs!

🎉 Squidge Update! 🎉

Our little fighter Squidge, who first came into our care at just 1 day old, is now 5 weeks of age and absolutely bursting with personality, s***k, and all the cuteness you can handle! 😻 This tiny ball of fluff loves nothing more than a good game of chasey, and he’s at his happiest when being cuddled and surrounded by his favorite humans. 💕

Squidge is growing stronger every day and will soon be ready to start his happily furever after in mid to late November. Stay tuned for more updates on this s***ky little man’s journey from foster to adoption ready! 🐾
