🚨 PARALYSIS TICKS🚨
Tick season is back!
These tiny parasites can cause life-threatening paralysis. Preventative measures + knowing the signs of tick paralysis + seeking urgent care is crucial.
How to Identify Paralysis Ticks:
• Small, oval-shaped, and can be grey, blue, or tan.
• Often found around the head, neck, and under collars.
• Often hide in bushy areas and latch onto your pet after outdoor activities.
Signs and Symptoms:
• Wobbly walking or unsteady back legs
• Weakness, especially in the hind limbs
• Difficulty breathing or a change in bark/meow
• Vomiting or gagging
• Lethargy or unusual tiredness
If you spot any of these symptoms, seek veterinary care immediately! Paralysis ticks can be fatal if left untreated.
Prevention is Key!:
• Use preventative treatments such as topical treatments or oral medications.
• Regularly check your pet for ticks, especially after outdoor walks.
• Keep your pet’s preventative care up-to-date year-round.

What a lovely surprise for Milly (left) and Stella (right) when they came in for their 2nd vaccinations yesterday. Milly and Stella are sisters and have not been together for three weeks. It was a cute family reunion when their mums had unknowingly scheduled their appointments at the same time 🩷 we look forward to watching Milly and Stella grow 🩷

Look at these amazing before and after pictures of Loki’s nares procedure preformed by Dr Stuart!

This surgery is the correction of stenotic nares (nostrils) by widening the opening and is 1 of 4 commonly performed procedures to assist with improving breathing and airflow.
All breeds, cats and dogs, can have this conformational problem However, brachycephalic breeds (pugs, frenchies, persians, etc.) are more likely to be affected.
If you notice your pet has difficulty breathing or makes snoring noises even when awake, book in for a consult to discuss if this procedure or an alternate might be necessary! 🐶🐱
