Nearly exactly 1 year ago I got some Loricaria Simillima. Unfortunately only 3 survived due to them being small and fragile. Luckily enough there is at least a pair in the 3 survivors :)
Last night I found some eggs on the sandy floor!
Being a mouth brooder, and the males first time he didnt do his job and collect them up. But so far they look like healthy fertilized eggs!

The hard part is all done for you. 4-5yrs of growing out and all you need to do is breed them. Regretful sale for the client but onto bigger and better things for them. The price isnt for the faint hearted but if you can get 1 successful spawn it would be well worth it. 🐠🐠

Here's a quick video of my 236sw group eating Dr Bassleer Green for dinner.
Since the Super Whites are an omnivorous pleco, i find using Green helps get some veg and variety in their meals.
Rather than sticking a zucchini in my tank and making it dirty, this is a quick and easy way thats even better for them!

Lately you would have been inundated with posts about Dr Bassleer! The latest fish food to hit our shores here in Australia.

A bit of a long post but stick with it! I'll give you all the information you need to know about this fish food.

What is this fish food? Why is it good? Why should I stop using my favourite hikari fish food and swap over?

For those who know me, you know I feed my fish the best of the best. I have been trialling Dr Bassleer for the past 2 years and have had great results and maintained healthy fish. I am also using another product (which I have applied an import permit for) in conjunction with Dr Bass and my fish have loved both foods equally and have been producing great results in growth and in breeding success.

All my fry that I raise have been brought up on the Baby+Nano Fish Food. Then slowly transitioned to the other varieties such as Green, Chlorella, Acai, Garlic and Regular.

There are so many varieties with Dr Bassleer Bio Fish food. How do I know which one to use? Here is a quick rundown..

Regular - Everyday fish food that provides fish with all vitamins and trace elements and minerals they require.
Baby+Nano - Promotes quick and vigorous growth for juvenile and nano fish.
Garlic - Great for those picky eaters. Especially for those that suffer from loss of appetite or contracted a disease.
Green - Fish will grow very fast and show their natural colours. Contains Moringa Oleifera and Chlorella Algae. Great for Herbivores.
Chlorella - Contains Chlorella algae rich in carotnoids, antioxidants and chlorophyll.
Pumpkin - Recommended during a treatment against intestinal worms. Promotes intestinal health.
Herbal - Skinny fish gain weight quickly. Has an antiseptic effect.
Acai - Fish develop a naturally strong colouration. Helps lead to success in breeding.
Fuco - Recommended during a treatment against Antibacterial infections.
Aloe - Enhances the immune system. Detoxifies the digestive process and the fish organism.
GSE/Moringa - The leaves of the moringa tree contain 18 different amino acids as well as numerous antioxidants.
Forte - Particularly helpful in stress situations or when moving fish.
Lapacho - Recommended to feed during a treatment against intestinal flagellates.

We never thought we'd be successful or ever get the chance to breed the L56 xanto chubbies...until now! 😃
Of course they bred after we sold them but we managed to get a surprise batch of 10 healthy wrigglers out of them before they left our tanks 😂 🐟

These little guys are amazing to watch even for a pleco. Always active and look stunning once they're older!
They are currently quarantining and will be released in a few weeks! :)

But last night I had a proper look, and seeing how far this guy has come since I got him is amazing.

We weren't lying when we said we had a few things going on... if you know me, you'll know I've been hunting for these for what feels like a very long time!

Going to be a while till these new babies will be ready! But the patterns on these L236sy are amazing so far.. another one we'll be leaving to grow out along with the L260s, and check on them in a years time 🐟

I felt like something a bit different the other week and got some Longfin Lemon BNs 🐟 Nice small batch just bred and pulled this morning and the other male is on eggs 👌

My baby. 4 months since I got him and he has put on some size as he was a bit too skinny and fins were a bit tattered. One of my favourite Pseudacanthicus. The L25 scarlet 7 pointer colours are stunning. Definitely want more if I can find them! 🐟

Now these guys are probably my last purchase for the year. I've been waiting for chameleon whiptails, and until I find them these guys are the next best thing! Loricaria Simillima are different to your standard Farlowella Royal Whiptail or Long Nose Whiptail. The males hold the eggs under their mouths for 10-14days until the eggs are ready to hatch. Latest addition to the fish room! And definitely not the last one for the year! Some L24s doing their time in quarantine and feeding well. I have never been too interested in the L24s in the past but they don't come around often! These do not have any deformities and are a decent size just under 10cm. Hoping they colour up more as they get acquainted with the new home!
