MONTY & COLA are available for foster with view to adopt.
Siblings Monty and Cola are two beautiful cats with very different but complimentary personalities.
Monty (Tabby) provides countless laughs and is easily persuaded with food. Heโs very vocal especially around meal time and quite cheeky. He sometimes acts like he doesnโt want pats and cuddles but will often loom around waiting for your attention.
Cola (Black) is decidedly more reserved and demure, she is shy but once she trusts you is an absolute lap cat who will pounce the moment you are sitting or lying down. Together they provide hours of entertainment and bring many smiles.

Bruno & Wobbles know how to find the most comfiest place in the house ๐ They have come so far since being rescued from horrendous hoarding and squalor. Bruno & Wobbles were rescued in the Doonside hoarder rescue in 2023
You can see a pre-rescue Doonside hoarder photo on our Chuffed campaign.
๐ฅน Poor Bruno was so terrorised that it took him 5 months to come out of his shell but now you will find him within arms reach, wherever you go in the house ๐๐ Thank you to everyone who has helped us save these 2 angels ๐

Lest we Forget.
One of our followers grandfather is in this photo.
Camels were very useful in Sinai and Palestine. Tens of thousands were needed to get water to the soldiers, and they were also good for patrolling in the desert.
Later on they were also used to transport cameliers into battle, whereupon the riders would dismount to fight. They could also carry wounded men on stretchers placed on each side of the animal. Despite their usefulness, the camels were a rough ride, making transportation of the wounded uncomfortable and painful.
The Imperial Camel Corps Brigade was formed in 1916 from British and Commonwealth troops and was attached to the Anzac Mounted Division. There were four regiments: the 1st and 3rd were Australian, the 2nd was British, and the 4th was a mix of New Zealanders and Australians. Each regiment had around 770 men, and at full strength the brigade contained almost 4,000 camels.
Camels were well suited for life in the desert; they could carry around 145 kilograms and go without water for up to five days. Horses were also used by the troops, but required water daily. Initially transported from India and then Egypt, the camels could travel from 4.8 to 9.5 kilometres per hour.
In 1917 the brigade took part in the fighting at Gaza and Beersheba in Palestine. By the following year the countryโs harsh terrain had made the camels less effective than horses. No longer needed, the Australian cameliers were transferred to the light horse.

โ๏ธImportant opportunity to provide your feedback NSW Parliament Inquiry into Management of Cat Populations in NSWโ๏ธ This is a really important inquiry as it relates to the wellbeing and right for cats to be on the streets. There are some concerns that the introduction of mandatory containment would imply all roaming cats are illegal and can therefore be eradicated. This is very concerning and might be our last chance to comment. ๐ฟ
We are preparing a response and welcome your comments on your work helping cats on the street and issues you think are important for the Parliament to consider within their policies. ๐
Our response will promote a No Kill focus and highlight some key issues impacting cats roaming on the street including things like: need for financial support and subsidies for vet care and desexing, improved funding to rescue organizations and other groups supporting cats in crisis and partnerships between animal/ rescue organizations and councils/ government to develop programs to promote responsible pet ownership and free desexing for targeted population groups.
The Love Rescues Collaborative have created a nice guide for preparing a response if you would like to submit an individual response! The more responses the better and we would encourage you to jump online and have your say. However, we are also happy to collect your comments and include within our response. Please send any comments to [email protected] by 19 November 2024 or leave comments below!
Sending thanks for all cats in NSW ๐ฝ
๐๐๐3 WEEKS until COMMUNITY CAT RESCUERS need to speak up to ensure the NSW govt recognises you & your cats/kittens!!! and what great value you are!!! ๐๐๐ https://loverescuecollaborate.org/2024/11/01/2024-nsw-inquiry-management-of-cat-populations-in-new-south-wales/
โผ๏ธ STEP 1 - GET READY โผ๏ธ the (boring) preparation to ensure by Fri 22nd Nov you have a response re what you do, the cats under your care:
A. read the topics provided by the NSW govt
B. gather your top issues & recommendations
C. include your (or "your friend's) examples of rescued cats, desexing, rehoming !!!
๐We have grouped a few essentials together in our first "drop" on this inquiry... this is likely to be the LAST CHANCE TO HELP COMMUNITY & ABANDONED CATS.
๐คฌBetween the lines we suspect is the negative view of eradicating ALL stray cats, potentially through "concerned citizens" trapping and destroying cats potentially without adequate controls & monitoring.
๐งMake sure you set some time aside (strong coffees recommended) to get your heads around this one
๐ง No rush to finish until Fri 22nd Nov, BUT START NOW!
๐ง We provide a few hot topics for a quick submission - more will follow, by all means follow the referenced links to trusted sources and read and develop your own submissions, or leave as simple as you can make it
๐งThere are many other important issues & recommendations - these will be provided soon ๐
๐งLinks to the inquiry, terms of reference topics, and trusted organisations with evidence-based research is included in the LRC blog post.

๐ท UPDATE ON HUMPHREY'S RESCUE ๐ท Thank you to everyone who has supported the rescue of Humphrey from Kogarah. It has been 2 weeks since he was rescued, YAY! ๐ป He is doing well. Those nasty wounds to his face are clearing up nicely, check out his soft, fluffy (and clean) fur coat. ๐He still prefers to hide away but is slowly starting to come out of his shell, especially at night, and has taken a keen interest in his soon to meet foster rescue buddies Bruno & Wobbles (who were previously rescued from terrible hoarding and squalor). ๐ฑ๐ฑ
Humphrey was taken to a vet assessment by a very kind community member who had been helping feed him on the streets. He was assessed and treated under anaesthetics, for scratch marks to his face and a large wound of his leg. He also had two painful teeth removed, was desexed, had worming and flea treatment and was microchipped. Huge shout out to the very kind community member and vet clinic who helped to arrange and fund all of this. ๐
So far, we have raised $1,179 for Humphrey. ๐ฅณThanks so much to every single person that made a donation, helped share our posts and provided supportive comments. ๐ซถWith your donations, Humphrey was loaded up with essential supplies and a large cat scratching tree. Expenses so far are $349. His foster carers have kindly been providing most of kitty litter, food and other little treats. ๐
Unfortunately, Humphrey's initial foster home was not an ideal match, although his foster carers adored him and took very good care of him, it just wasn't a good match for the long term and Humphrey is now in foster care with Bruno & Wobbles Foster Family.

โThey told me my house smelled like dogs, and I asked them:
Do you know what a dog smells like?
A dog smells like gratitude, loyalty, nobility, affection, pure and unconditional love. And despite everything theyโve been through, they don't smell of resentment.
So, I feel blessed that my house smells like dogs."

Sydney Pet Rescue & Adoption is a registered charity
and not-for-profit organisation
Registered since 2006
We are 100% volunteer run by a group of dedicated people who are passionate about animal welfare and give their time and energy generously to help save lives and make a difference. So you can be sure that all money raised for the charity goes directly to the cause โ to caring for our animals in care and making it possible to be a voice for animals in the community.
We have Deductible Gift Recipient status so all donations of $2 and over are tax deductible. We rely totally on our own fundraising efforts and the generosity of the public.
We are committed to a No Kill policy. We donโt operate a shelter, rather our rescued pets are lovingly cared for by dedicated volunteer foster carers in their own homes, and we look after our animals as long as necessary to find them a loving forever home.
Our mission is to:
Rescue and re-home companion animals from Death Row in pounds, and other homeless animals;
Short circuit the surrender process, and thus reduce the number of animals reaching Death Row, by educating owners about viable alternatives to surrender, including short term emergency foster care, assistance with locating pet friendly accommodation and assistance with re-homing;
Educate the public about responsible pet ownership, and their rights and responsibilities under the Companion Animal Act, the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and other relevant legislation;
Promote an understanding of the valuable role companion animals play in peopleโs lives and the broader community; and
Promote the prevention of cruelty to animals.
Our re-homed animals are vet checked, vaccinated, micro-chipped, wormed, flea treated, de-sexed, cats are FIV tested and our dogs are heart worm tested.
We offer a minimum 4 week trial period with all of our re-homed animals and will take them back if they are not compatible. We pet match potential new owners to ensure an appropriate match with lifestyle factors, to ensure a safe and suitable home, and to facilitate a forever home.
Our wish is for a loving home for every pet and no more cruelty to animals.
