My baby who I love soooo much!!!!! He is on the right track to becoming a sensible & mature adult dog but while he's in this adolescent stage I'm keeping a close eye on his social interactions to ensure he stays the way he is: dog friendly, people friendly, kid friendly and non reactive.
All dog daycare footage is from @ooohhyeahdogcare where I work. You should check it out 💚
I'll be accepting grooming bookings soon at Ooohh Yeah 📍Alexandria, when I complete my dog grooming training

Last walk with Zimi today 🐾❤️ such a great dog with incredible zest for life no matter how old he gets. It's been a pleasure to walk Zimi/work for his wonderful family 🙂 #staffy #englishstaffy #bluestaffy #seniorstaffy #dogwalking
Story time! Benny broke his toe shortly after we got him. It was a strange thing to happen as he only had a small tumble (kind of like rolling your ankle while running) 3 different vets assessed him and none thought he had a fracture (only soft tissue injury) but my instincts told me that it was broken. I organised for him to have a (very expensive) xray, & discovered he had a sesamoid fracture and required approx 8 weeks of rest, limited exercise and ZERO RUNNING/PLAYING AT THE DOG PARK 😭 Benny was such a good boy throughout this period and to be honest I think it upset me more than it upset him! I was worried that he would develop frustration based reactivity while walking on leash (seeing other dogs and not being able to play...) and that his exercise needs were not being met. Exercising less also meant more frequent nail trimming was required - something he tolerates but doesn't enjoy!
To this day, i still don't know how on earth he broke a toe from such a small stumble, but my guess is that he wasn't getting all the nutrients he needed and maybe lacked calcium or other important nutrients - he had gastro for about 2 weeks straight when we first adopted him, and we were told that his tummy was iffy on & off during his time in foster care too. After gradually changing over his food, adding probiotics (prescription prokolin to begin with, then symbiotic and also natural probiotics such as steamed pumpkin) his gut issues went away. This also fixed his anal gland issues naturally (soft stools are not firm enough to express the glands) Having a sick or injured pet is so difficult, emotionally and financially, I don't resent a single dollar spent on getting Benny the adequate medical care he needed though, and I've also put him on quality joint supplements and arranged to have a canine physiotherapist appointment so that I can learn how to best help him get to tip top health. During his 7 weeks of rest/limited exercise, we did a lot of training, enrichment activit
So grateful to have had the chance to join the team @ooohhyeahdogcare this year 💚

Daily shredding with Benny. Puppies are gonna shred stuff whether you let them or not - better to show them what they can shred instead of letting them choose from your belongings... From day 1 we have let Benny rip cardboard and even turned it into a game (with the "rip it" command, which he knows and loves) we leave a stack of cardboard available to him at all times and when he feels like it, he runs off to get a piece and starts ripping it either by himself or he brings it to me to rip together. I do my best to meet his needs and allow appropriate outlets for shredding, chewing, licking, sniffing, foraging(snuffling), barking, digging, playing and exercising. It's hard right now as he recovers from a toe injury (on limited exercise) He can't run/jump/dig/bark (he can bark at the dog park but not at home...!!) but we learn a new command pretty much every other day so he does get tired. He loves training and knows "sit", "lie down", "wait" (at doors & before meals but also will wait while I drop treats all around him and then get them on the "get it" command), "rip it", "on your bed", "this way" (follow me), "come", "up" (onto bed/sofa), "look" (observe calmly), "boop" (press his nose into my hand while I do 👌), "go potty" & "settle down". We are getting the hang of "in your kennel" (to his crate - I plan to have him crate trained but only to use occasionally eg. When a tradie comes over) and "quiet" but we don't have many opportunities to practice quiet because he doesn't bark much at home. At one point I was going to teach him to "woof"/"quiet" because an easy way to teach a dog to not to something is to teach the undesired behaviour and then teach the off switch (eg. bark then stop barking, jump up then hop down) but I've shelved that for now hahah... 🤔 #dogtraining #enrichment #dogenrichment #amstaffx #greatdanex #mastiffx #rescuedog #puppygram

Benny and his loose leash.... It's not the actual loose leash walking that I care about (although that is very important for safety - mine and his) it's the ✨engagement✨ that I'm looking for. #greatdanex #danemix #amstaffx #greatdanexstaffy #rescuedog #puppygram #looseleashwalking #dogwalking #training
