Psittacosis tests: a few months ago, some of my birds had a psittacosis test. Not because I suspected they had it; just because its important to check it every year. To my surprise, this is no longer a blood test!! Last year, Spartacus had the blood test which he was most unhappy about.
Now it's a swab test. 3 areas are swabbed for the shedding part of the disease. Makes it less stressful on the bird and owner.

Our guest Lily is back!! My flock is down to 3 with Quintus, the sun conure going to live with my daughter.

As some of you know, I took in Honey the blue Quaker a few years ago. She can't fly and almost died at the vets.
Now, she is going on to be an assistant bird with Parrots for Purpose and eventually a new home spreading love and joy.
I dropped her off this morning and saw how fantastic her life will be; out of her cage for most of the day and heaps of people to meet.
I will miss her terribly but it's not about me. Have a good life, honey pot! You are a good bird.

With no guests, we have had a deep clean lately. The bird room is stick and span. But only for a short time because having parrots is a constant cleaning regiment

Photos from yesterday. A few guests left before a bit of a break. Guests are Jungle the Amazon, forest the Alex and Dipsy the lorikeet. Showered Jungle after letting him see Spartacus enjoy it. He went pretty good for a bird that hadn't seen my shower before.

What a joy!! Lots of birds hanging out with us for hours. Not a lot of flying because it's so hot.

Bye Jack!! Added a toy to the new stand which Boudicca liked a lot. Ozmo likes to fly back and forth across the room.

Ozmo the galah arrived this morning so, as a regular guest, I was keen to see how he liked our new stand. Jack prefered to go in the big cages when he has the chance. On another note, Plato the albino Quaker has come out of her cage after being hormonal for a month. Nice to see her out.

At Yoshi’s, we are dedicated to enhancing the enjoyment of the birds. So, I have whipped up this beauty of a stand while allowing sitting area while it's not in use. Spartacus and Boudicca have approved it.

Christmas is coming and bookings are limited especially for medium birds like Amazon and eclectus sized birds. 2 more places available for large birds like B&G's and cockatoos. Small birds such as cockatiels and smaller have the most availability right now.
