A lot of people ask what to do with microgreens. So this is what happened tonight !

Dish 1 was capsicum, tomato and cheese.1 with a daikon radish and the other with broccoli on it.

The 2nd was just cheese with broccoli.

Just a little explanation for our new followers and also anyone that didn't know...

There is a difference.

Not just the stage of growth, the method to grow them.
Sprouts are grown in a jar, rinsed several times a day. It is a high moisture environment. If bacteria starts to grow, you risk contaminating the entire crop. When you rinse, bacteria can transfer onto many other sprouts and continue to grow in the ideal environment.
Microgreens grow above the soil or growing medium. Most likely, any bacteria will be in the root system. Most microgreens are bottom watered after the sprouts form. During harvest, you trim the top and compost the bottom.

Seeds have specialised cells that can sense gravity, which helps them orient their growth. This gravitational sensitivity ensures that the roots grow downward and the shoots grow upward, regardless of how the seed lands in the soil. The first part out of the seed is called the radical and this heads straight down to put down the roots, which you can clearly see here in the picture. Look out this week in your delivery for Lemon balm!! It's a very slow grower but we are having some great success growing these babies!! It pairs well with just about any dessert. Try it on simple vanilla ice cream. Very limited stock available.

DISCLAIMER: Plant nerd stuff again....

Hi there, all our lovely customers, followers, friends, and family. We just thought we'd share a little bit of plant nerd stuff..

Here we have what's called an albino plant. This is a daikon radish. The plant that is yellow in these pictures, It actually lacks chlorophyll, which helps the plant photosynthesise and turn the leaves green under light. These are extremely rare, as you can probably tell as it is just one plant in a whole tray of our microgreens.

This week, for our customers, you might have noticed some sunflowers in your delivery. We highly recommend you chocolate dip these awesome, nutty, buttery flavoured gems! It can be an early Easter treat for yourself or your customers!! We have been recommended to add some butter in the melted chocolate so it changes the viscosity to help dip them. What an awesome idea for a side treat or even on top of a dessert or something like that.

Anyway, enjoy!! Let us know if you did chocolate dip them and send us some pics of your creation (if they last as the boy smashed my last batch...)

A lot of people always ask what sort of system we use to water our micros. Well here is just one if our varieties of systems. It's a hydroponic, ebb and flow system, which means it fills up and then drains slowly out. The only difference in our system is that we DON'T use any chemicals at all !!

Hello all our lovely customers, followers and friends ! Sorry we haven't posted in a while as been going through some personal stuff. .. ANYWAY, enough of that garbage....

Did you know, that to our knowledge, the ONLY Cafe on the Central Coast and Newcastle who are actually using our amazing micro broccoli in their smoothies and juices, is The Island Cafe in Norah Head?? Sulforaphane plus and highly nutritional smoothies!! Get on down there this weekend from 7am until 2pm (I think) and see Narelle and the team and ask for micro broccoli in a delicious smoothie!! Did we mention, THE ONLY place to our knowledge, using this awesome and natural product....

Disclaimer, PLANT NERD STUFF!

Here is one of our trays that was used to germinate our very popular purple sango radish. You can see what's called the radical, that comes out of the seed to start their roots, and you can also see the very fine root hairs developing, looking for moisture and some soil to grow in.

We obviously create a very good environment for germination, as sorry little seeds, but there's no soil there! But you continue to germinate!

Awesome stuff for us plant nerds!!!
