First dip in the water at the beach for Storm whisper
Can’t believe he’s not been snapped up already
Storm whisper has moved in with Harry! 🤠
Here’s our first trail ride, and his first time on the road with cars (a nice easy 80kph at peak hour to ease him in 🤪)
*I would never put a horse on this road I didn’t feel was adequately prepared to handle it
🔥🔥🔥🔥First bushfire of the season already happened!!
Very close to home for me.
Are your horses bushfire ready? How easy or difficult will it be for you to load up your horses in the event of an emergency?
I just love these before and after videos!
SO proud of Storm Whisper for his first day at Peel Metro Adult Riders
His first time in a bustling environment since his racing days. At only 5 years old, I am continually impressed by his ability to self regulate and settle into new environments!
We had to put the jumps up for him to see if we could find a jump somewhere in him and boy did we find it!! Gonna need to switch to the jump saddle now I think 🫣🤩
Once he’s confident where to put his feet, Storm Whisper is going to be a pretty fun ride over some jumps!
2nd eventing win for the H in R&H ❤️
So grateful to have him in my life and so so proud
How to train your horse to lower their head for hosing
Hoff the Friesian warmblood gelding learns to lower his head to be hosed off
So I’ve not given a Diego the Snippetson gelding update in a while as due to some poorly cared for feet, Diego had developed some significant compensatory muscle soreness.
His owner and I have been working diligently with his vet and physio to get to the bottom of it and we’re definitely on the up!
Today Diego went off property to visit darling downs in hand and although a little overstimulated he kept his cool and happily popped over all the fences without hesitation. Can’t wait to jump back on!
Had a lovely break away from the city, in between some float training I managed to squeeze in some rides with a good friend 🥰
Night time ride Oakford - Darling downs last night during the Super Moon 🌝
Brave ponies 🥰
Progress video for 🔥 Diego 🔥 the Snippetson gelding
A great informative video on French link snaffle with a peanut lozenge.
*if your horse is opening their mouth do not add a flash!! Consider WHY and fx it ❤️*
Float training for a little mare after an accident ❤️🩹
*NOT A PAID AD*
I always like to give the horses a little spring clean inside as part of my sand colic prevention routine!
All the research points towards prevention being better than cure and routine drenching doesn’t work!
I personally LOVE these Alternate Touch Equine Supplement Specialists sand bars - they’re quick, easy and tasty and don’t affect my feed routine!
Such a great product, and I’m always happy to support local.
Second horse of the afternoon loaded happily 🦄
Finally done another video, you all need to remind me to record some content! 😂
2nd ride today for 💎 Jewel 💎
We went off property cause she’s such a good girl. Tried a trot, she is definitely more woah than go!
Traffic no worries either! Such a clever, kind girl.
Jewel is a 16yr old TB ex Broodmare who hasn’t been ridden in well over 10years, exactly how long is hard to say but could be between 10-14 years.
Her temperament is to die for, such a kind soul I wish I could keep her!
Jewel is up for adoption Hay Animal Farm & Rescue
Feeling a bit on top of the world after winning our class at the Murray ODE 🥹🐎 I had to take everything right back to basics to fix what went wrong when I broke my ankle.
I am proud of how I rode, I prioritised Harry’s mental health above everything, and to pull out an eventing win is just an added bonus!
Happy calm horses can event, and do it in style!
Harry and I won by a whopping 12 penalties 😳
I don’t see me doing any more eventing, I am happy to end on a good note 😂
Next weekend we are participating in a traditional Irish fox hunt!
How to train a hydrophobic horse to walk through water 🥰
who wants a Part 2: under saddle?
Do you start and finish every ride on the buckle?
Now is the perfect time of year to work on your horses hesitation with water. This big puddle is at our local darling downs park 🙂
How to paste a larger, less compliant horse.
Main take always:
- Don’t go into it aiming to get it done quickly
- Go in aiming to train/reinforce a head down cue
- only ever release pressure when the head comes down (even slightly)
- don’t approach with the paste until the feet are still and the head is down.
(Post edited as I have more than enough volunteers)
If you’re wanting guidance with pasting or any other issue please get in touch 🦄
Another horse confidently self loading and unloading without exploding backwards. Thanks to his owners for understanding it takes the time it takes, and trusting the process ❤️
Next trail ride come along! Give something new a try - imagine cantering out in an open field like this for the first time and feeling safe and being able to enjoy the moment! 🥰🤩🤩
